Awesome Scanner — Really Impressed! I’ve been really impressed with the TOPDON TopScan Master. For such a small Bluetooth scanner, this thing can do a ton. It connects right to your phone, the app is pretty easy to navigate, and it gives you a lot more information than I expected. One of the best features is the vehicle health report. It scans the vehicle and puts everything into a clear, organized report so you can quickly see what’s good and what might need attention. It’s way nicer than trying to sort through a bunch of codes on a basic scanner. One important tip: follow the directions closely the first time you set it up. There are a few steps you need to do correctly during the initial setup, and taking a couple extra minutes to follow the instructions makes the whole process much smoother. Once it’s set up, it’s super easy to use. Overall, I’m extremely happy with it. It’s compact, convenient, packed with features, and the health reports alone make it worth having. Whether you work on vehicles regularly or just want a good scanner to keep around, the TopScan Master is an awesome little tool. Definitely recommend it!

I am not officially a mechanic but i have probably worked on cars as much as most. Doing this since i was a kid and cars have really become difficult to repair in some aspects. Computer related or emissions related issues have been trial and error using my standard Autel scanner. Saving for their Maxicom that i often borrow from a friend but found this Topdon bidirectional scan tool at half the price and so far it has performed as well if not better than the Maxicom. Basically a standard scanner can only get information from the car's ECU but with this and other bidirectional scanners costing up to 2k i can feed info to the ECU. This saves me a ton of time and reduces the chances of me breaking something expensive. I can activate various parts such as the radiator fan, fuel pump, trigger sensors and even unlock the doors or windows without getting out of the car. You would be surprised how difficult this can be on some makes and models. That in itself is worth the extra hundred bucks but this does even more. More makes and models, more live data streams, more resets and I have not dropped Bluetooth once using it every day since it arrived. It is rugged and with its small size i can keep it in a side pocket of my main bag. I would not mind if it was bigger and had a nice screen but not worth putting out another two hundred dollars, and that's for 3rd tier scanners. Yes there is a subscription available but unless you are really getting deep into these available functions there is really no need. Just like the other scanners i own, I have never paid any extra costs for that. Its mainly for updates for oddball things and not needed or worth the cost imo. I do think you get the first year free so you can decide for yourself if you wanna continue it. This scan tool from Topdon does every thing you would need or anything a typical shop mechanic will do. I have been happy with all of the Topdon tools I have purchased here. Zero issues. Fantastic tool and highly recommended for part time or full time vehicle repair.

I don’t really understand how these people find this scanner useful, it’s a completely pain in the a, it takes forever for loading it doesn’t work if your internet is weak, pathetic device do not buy it, 15 years working on cars and it just doesn’t work for me it makes you waste too much time

Great scanner packed in a tiny package! I bought one of the original top scans and loved every second of it soo when I saw they now have one that has even more features I had to give it a try and I couldn’t be happier that I did. Being able to datalog lots of pids and do a lot of functional tests is super helpful in diagnosing concerns I have come in my shop. Interface is still super user friendly and fast. I havnt found a vehicle that I’ve had come in this wasn’t compatible with. If you’re on the fence give it a try you won’t be sorry.

Haven't used this a lot but when i do its handy. Out of all the brands i have used. I dont like the app being on a constant communication to a server. Makes diagnosing in field away from a cell tower or wifi is a challenge.

I purchased the Master version of this scan tool dongle, and am very impressed with it's capabilities. I'm a retired auto mechanic, and didn't have a scanner capable of diagnosing modern cars. My grandson's car quit running, and, with the limited function of my old scan tool, I wasn't able to test the systems necessary to get the car running. This tool has so much more functionality (maybe a bit too much functionality for my experience level with current electronic controls). Some of the information provided was throwing me off the path of diagnosing the problem. I also don't find the procedure of connecting the dongle with my phone very intuitive, having had to keep the quick start guide handy to get me up and running over the few times that I connected into the system. I think this would become second nature, if you use this often. I'm hoping not to have to use it often enough for that to happen. Overall, I feel this is an excellent device, providing access to controlling functions and reading data that was previously unavailable to me. Prior to my retirement, I had occasionally used an extremely capable professional scan tool at work. That one also seemed to provide too much information, leading to errors in diagnosing problems. It probably comes down to being a result of the complexity of modern cars, that, with so many different modules controlling different systems, it's inevitable that there will be fault errors (which can be unrelated to the problem that you are diagnosing) that are stored in the different modules. The tricky part is determining which ones are relative to the problem that you're trying to solve. I'm not sure how functional this device will be once my first year's subscription runs out, guess I'll find out once that has passed. Although the renewal seems to be a bit pricey, it's pretty inexpensive compared to other options. I'm now capable of replacing rear brakes on cars with electronic parking brakes, bleeding abs systems, diagnosing airbag systems, and the list goes on. I will (somewhat) gladly pay for a new subscription when needed, compared to paying labor costs at a dealership to have repairs performed.
