  • High performing scan tool with a very friendly price. High performing scan tool with a very friendly price.
Style: Phoenix XLink
I’m pleased to say I’ve added the Phoenix X-Link to my diagnostic scan tool collection. This tool has alot of great functionality. It performs full system scans very quickly and displays as a topology map. I like that the code scan report function has a QR code for sending and viewing elsewhere. It has alot of special functions and its capable of programming and coding. Topdon pushes software and manufacturer updates very often which is great. The overall layout of the scan tool is highly user-friendly. The only downside is the absence of a wireless VCI. However, I was aware of this when making the purchase. On a positive note, having a wired connection simplifies troubleshooting during those challenging days. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase. It closely resembles some of the more expensive tools on the market at an exceptionally reasonable price. I highly recommend this tool to diagnosticians, technicians, mechanics, tool enthusiasts, and DIYers alike. ... show more

  • Great tool, quite powerful!
Style: Phoenix XLink
This tool is awesome! Great layout, solid feel, does lots of things. It has a really great topography screen, and everything is easy to understand. It says it does security functions as well, but I have not yet have the chance to play with that. I do have another tool by the same company that works quite well for security, so I trust that this one will as well. Topdon makes great tools and a fantastic price point. I strongly recommend this one as well as many others they produce. ... show more

  • It couldn't do the one thing I purchased it for which was reset my SAS.
It couldn't do the one thing that I purchased it for which is reset my SAS I am in the process of returning it :( . I thought I had found a device reason Update: They offered me a $30 gift for my inconvenience and also only a few days later they offered a $20 gift card because of the incompatible with my specific vehicle based on that I updated my review because they went out of their way and above the call of duty to ensure that I was satisfied as possible after finding out the scan tool, which does have a lot of cool features like the light at the end of the cable that plugs into the OBD port usually located under the dash of most vehicles. I wish I could of kept it but I have to pay the shop to put some parts on the ( lower control arm ( Including Ball joint), outer tie rod. before they will align my vehicle then zero my steering wheel it's just that my vehicle is ruining my brand new set of front tires because I couldn't zero it out after installing a new power steering motor and various front end parts while dealing with a garage called Big Dan's that poorly installed my transmission leaving various nuts and bolts loose had I not noticed my family and/or myself might of been injured or worse, I had to pay for the replacement of a axle, axle bracket, lower control all of which but the bracket were recently replaced and under warranty. The garage lied to me and said that they would pay for the bracket since I had paid $300 for the parts and labor that they broke while either being careless or just plain under qualified. I was told by the owner Big Dan to take them to court which is exactly what I will do for I have enough proof to show that the bracket broke due to the negligence of Big Dan's Garage not tightening the bolts on the axle bracket tight nor did they torque any of the nuts and bolts on the front end. I am a trained mechanic myself and was a Heavy Wheel mechanic in the U.S. Army so I know crappy mechanical work whenever I see it and I personally had to work on it myself and tightened bolts, replaced fuses that they had replaced while installing the transmission. I drove it up to Big Dan's Garage afterward and while the tire was off noticed that a bolt on the lower control was very loose it could actually be turned by my finger so I went and got Big Dan to show him the loose bolt which he had one of his workers tighten it using a wrench but i observed him not checking the torque specifications with a torque wrench. Poorest customer service I've ever received!! In life they never reprogrammed/reset my TCU so my vehicle would be able to reprogram the transmission to work correctly with my vehicle so I will pay another garage to seevice my vehicle and resest the TCM thanks again for being a reputable company and following up on your customer's experience with your tool. I kinda wished I would have just asked for the Big Don 600 back because although it couldn't do the SAS on my specific vehicle it does have a lot of cool features and can assist in the diagnostic process of your vehicle and may prevent you from getting crappy customer service from a garage. ... show more

  • Topdon Xlink review
Style: Phoenix XLink
I have used several Topdon units and this one is by far the fastest! VIN identification works well, it has a crazy number of services available, comes with all the vehicle specific adapters you could need and all this in a very robust case. Bootup is quick and I found that even when viewing multiple live data streams at the same time, the Xlink is able to keep up with no noticeable performance decline. The seller shipped quickly and was shipped with excellent packing. My only complaint is that it does not have a wireless OBD connection. You must use the cable to connect the scanner directly to the vehicle which makes things a little awkward when doing component actuation tests while under the vehicle and being tethered by a cable to the OBD port. Other than the lack of a wireless connection, this scan tool receives high marks for its power and functionality. ... show more

  • Great for business
Style: Phoenix XLink
This is a professional level diagnostic tool. It’s closer on some manufacturers to OEM software than others but still has a high level of capability. I’ve found close to OEM level functionality on domestic (to USA) manufactured vehicles. Foreign cars seem to differ more between manufacturer as far as what this tool will allow you to do. Topology function is a must for professional mechanics and has been incredible for me to use so far. I believe this tool to be the best value for your money as it has shown to be compatible with snap on and half the price of snap on’s entry level professional scanners. Interface design is easy to work with. Again, this is a tool for professionals. I run a mobile mechanic business and this tool has impressed myself and customers. ... show more

  • Excellent scanner that does 95% of what the most expensive do!
Style: Phoenix XLink
I own an automotive business that specializes in diagnostic & programming work. I added the Topdon Phoenix X Link to my arsenal & I can't say enough about its relatively compact size, sturdy construction, & fantastic usability. The special functions, coding, & bi directional testing is as good, or better than any tool I've used over my 25+ years working on vehicles. It will program most keys & immobilizer components, clone ECU's, & code 90% of vehicles. For $1,700, it's a no brainer! The only small gripe I have is the data stream is not as fluid as some more expensive units, but the 2 year free updates makes up for that. Great tool! ... show more

  • Very Poor Customer Support
Style: Phoenix XLink
Although the tool is great for a diagnostic tool but for a programming tool it leaves much to be desired when not all FILES are available or PARTIALLY available for some vehicles. Not to mention when it comes to dealing with Amazon Customer Support, that is worse than the tool itself; with the outsourced reps treating members, like myself, who have been loyal for many many years, like less than dirt. I even had a Supervisor tell me that she didn't care about me about a Amazon Customer. Just be very cautious when dealing with Amazon Customer Support. ... show more

  • Don’t count on the website info being accurate for your car.
On their website, they have a vehicle compatibility list but it isn’t accurate so don’t trust it. My car(2008 Sable) was clearly listed on there as being compatible with the AL600 being able to read the ABS system codes. Even after updating the device to the latest updates, it will not. According to support, after their initially telling me it will work, they came back and corrected their previous misinformation and said that it is only compatible with ABS on Sables 2005 and older. It also showed a code on another vehicle when there isn’t actually one. No ABS or check engine light that would have been on if the code was actually present. Tho that was when the engine was off and it no longer showed that code after the engine was running so I’ll give the device the benefit of the doubt on that one. Just for clarity since I’ve seen some reviews mention it and some not, the device I received did not have any LED lights on the end of the cable. That’s fine with me tho as then it would have to have some kind of battery that would need replacing or if it wasn’t user serviceable then it would eventually go bad anyway. Since it doesn’t actually work on the vehicle that I specifically bought it for then it’s going back. Any future purchasers, make sure you contact support instead of relying on information on their website to make sure it’s compatible with the vehicle you need it for before you waste your time or money. ... show more
