Preamble: I'm a large guy. 6'3" and roughly 250lbs. Finding bikes large enough and durable enough for me that are in my price range can be very difficult. I settled on the 29" Tommaso Gran Sasso XL frame bike. After having it professionally assembled and tuned, I took it out for a long ride. The first thing I noticed? It's big. Very big. It actually fits me! I could even be a little taller with no problems as the bike is rated for folks up to 6'5"! It's also very easy to pedal, despite my size. The 24 speed transmission allows you to conquer most hills and terrains with relative ease. It's also feels fairly speedy and accelerates nicely. The disc brakes are excellent, as is the front fork. The seat is horrible! Had to replace it immediately. The pedals seem a bit cheaper than they should be. One of the reflectors fell out of one of the pedals on my 3rd or 4th ride. Not very impressed with that. The bike seems slightly heavier than some other brands, but the frame and fork come with a lifetime warranty, at least for now. Which for me is a win. If your state has lighting or reflector laws, you'll need to purchase lights and/or reflectors as it doesn't come with any. Be careful when searching for reflectors for the front/rear, as most standard sizes on Amazon will not fit. The seat stem is 31.6mm diameter, and I don't know the maximum diameter of the handlebars, but it's larger than that. I could not find any front reflectors for this bike on Amazon, but I did manage to find a rear reflector with some effort. If you're not worried about the front reflector being centered well, than an ordinary front reflector might work as the handlebar diameter decreases a few inches away from the stem. It seems most normal wheel reflectors are compatible, but you'll have to play around a little because the spokes are a little funny. Might just be me, though. If you're a larger person and need a less expensive, quality feeling bike, this might be your ride. Reflectors and lights aren't terribly expensive. Neither is a new seat or some pedals, though I still don't feel the reflectors should fall out after just a few rides. If it falls out again, I might just crazy glue it into place. Overall, I'd recommend this bike, especially if you're larger and on a budget.

This bike is amazing!! I’m 6’3 and weigh 220 pounds so I bought the xl frame and man this bike rides so smooth and comfortable. Easy to pedal and it shifts smoothly. If you are looking for a great bike these guys know what they are doing. Perfect right out of the box.

1. The bike arrives within 4 days of ordering - awesome! 2. The bike is easy to put together. Took me about 30 minutes, taking your time to enjoy the process and doing it right. 3. You need to have allen/hex keys, wrench, screwdriver. 4. You should have chain oil and grease to lube the joints and chain. 5. You need to bring the bike to a bike shop to tweak it in order to get a warranty. 6. Make sure you order the correct size. I am 6ft tall and the large size is the correct one for me. 7. The handlebars are wide "for better stability" but that may be tricky for squeezing between city traffic. 8. The bike is strong, well-built, and has enough gears to climb anything, but it is not a speedster. 9. The front fork has a suspension that feels a little bouncy at first - like riding a horse. 10. The saddle is a pain in the ass and needs to be upgraded. 11. The brakes are awesome, just awesome. 12. The pedals are basic. I am enjoying the bike and would recommend it. * UPDATE The crank became loose after two weeks. I should have done point number 5. The bike store fixed it and did a full checkup - well, well worth doing.

For the price, the Tommaso Gran Sasso is an solid value. The aluminum frame is lightweight and rigid, providing a solid foundation for more aggressive riding. While the base components are dependable, I found the stock rear derailleur to be the weak link in the groupset. I swapped it out for a higher-tier derailleur I had on hand, and it immediately tightened up the shifting performance. If you are looking for a capable bike with a great frame that you can customize to your liking, this is an excellent choice.

I bought this bike 5 years ago and she's still in great shape! I'm a large guy, 6'4, 230lbs, and I ride the rough trails of the Wasatch here in Utah. Steep, rocky terrain. I'm amazed at what this bike has put up with over the years. It is a bit heavy, but with that comes long-term durability and strength. Like any and all bikes, I've had to do my fair share of maintenance on it over the years, but none of the primary components that came with the bike have failed. Same derailers, same shifters, same discs. I had my reservations when I bought a bike from China, but US mountain bike prices are outrageous. Who wants to drop several thousand on a good bike? My original purchase price was $450, so the price has gone up, just like everything else in the world. Thousands of pounding miles later, she's still a champ. If you're looking for a large, quality hardtail mountain bike that's affordable and will last a long time, give this one a shot. The tires that come stock aren't the greatest for mountain biking, I'd recommend upgrading to a quality tire if you're into tough and rocky trails. I also replaced the pedals with Chester pedals, and the seat with a more comfortable and squishier seat (never understood thin narrow hard seats). Also fits paniers and saddle bags quite well due to its large size.

Nice bike but mine had few issues. Wheels shakes and wobble. My crank arm was damaged and kept falling off. Asking seller to give me to cover a new crank arm. Did not get that resolved. Planned on returning to find out seller wants 20% restock fee plus I have to pay to ship back. Was cheaper to fix the bike and keep it. I would recommend this bike but find a different seller

I'm not a real big review writer, but I felt the need to write this review for the bigger folks out there who are trying to decide if this bike is good for them. To start, I'm like alot of people, who hasn't ridden a bike in years, but wants to start getting out there to get some form of exercise. I have very bad knees and walking for miles, tears up my joints, so I wanted something with less impact on my body. I also knew that I didn't want some box store run of the mill bike that wouldn't last (again I'm a big guy) but also knew, I didn't need a $3000 carbon bike, with full suspension either. So that brought me to Amazon. I live in the middle of nowhere, and don't have any bike shop close to try bikes and have one tuned and all that, so I had to kinda wing it. Trying to find a bike in extra large, for a guy who is 6'4", and weighs right at 270 lbs, proved to be a bit of a headache. I got caught up in all the specs, and being right on the cusp of the weight limit of so many bikes, had me hesitant to say the least. Logic then kicked in, and I started looking at what I'm really after in a bike. The answer is, to be able to get out with minimal impact on my knees, so both me and my dogs can get exercise. I'm not jumping, downhilling, or even trail riding. I'm literally riding around town on gravel roads. So that made me realize, alot of the cautions, and prerequisite's didn't really pertain to me. I would maybe worry about the weight limit, if you are going to launch this thing down mountain sides or try to jump huge jumps, or anything like that. If you are not, this bike will be perfect! It very well may do all that stuff as well, I don't know. I just know what it will do as I've experienced. If these bikes are supposed to be tuned, by a professional, they must do a pretty dang good job at the factory, because I literally assembled it, rode it and have had zero issues. All you have to do, is install the front wheel, handlebars, seat tube, and in my case, a new seat. The original seat is not good for a big person. I got one of those plush gel seats off Amazon, and man it made a HUGE difference. This bike rolls great! I've never ridden a bike that is so smooth! I got on and peddled a couple rotations and could not believe the ease at which this thing got going. I was in second gear up front and 3rd out back. The range of gears this thing has is absolutely amazing! 24 in total! Thankfully the brakes are equally as impressive, because I was a bit jerky at slow speeds and turning at first, since I'm not used to the large 29 inch tires. The larger tires really do make this bike ride over rocks and dips and bumps with ease. I've also never ridden a bike with a front shock before, so that was pretty impressive as well! I know this review wasn't a whole lot about the bike, but instead about the type of person I am, and riding style I will be using it for, to maybe help alleviate any concerns another big person may have, if they are looking at this bike. I've ridden about 25 miles already, in 2 days, just trying to get a feel for this bike and could not be happier! I have ZERO regrets purchasing this bike and if I ever need or want another bike, I'll probably look at this company again.

The OBVIOUS: It MUST be built by a pro shop OR no warranty! That adds a minimum of $125 in cost! The GOOD: It is FAST! VERY FAST! I got it to 30.1mph so far! Gear shifting is smooth. The BAD: The seat will destroy your comfort especially if you are a man! I immediately swapped out the seat and it made for a much better ride! ADDITIONAL and major bad: The tire treads do NOT do well in mud, or anything that is wet. I am an avid mountain biker and it does well on solid land but gravel, wet tree branches or logs and you may be left on the ground feeling pretty sad. I have NOT yet swapped out the tires but will look into it. Bottom line: For 500+ 125 to build it and + new seat (20) + new tires (50) if you are on a budget this is NOT the bike for you. If you will use this on asphalt and dry trails you will have no regrets!
