I've used reverse osmosis (RO) systems for more than 20 years. Until recently, they were challenging to maintain and wasted water at a ratio of about 4 gallons of waste for each gallon of purified water. It was a guess to know when to change the media and, depending on the system, there were 4 or 5 filters, each with their own housing, in addition to the RO membrane. This AkuaPure system is a new generation of RO system. It produces less wastewater than purified water at a ratio of 1 gallon of waste for each two gallons of purified water. It tells you when the filters and membrane need changing and changing them literally takes only a few seconds. What I like… - LEDs notify when media needs changing. - No storage tank required. - Dramatically reduced waste water. - Fast, 1.5 liters a minute, delivery. - Easy to change media. Twist to remove and replace. Shortcomings… - For some reason, in spite of all other connections being John Guest-type quick connections, the supply valve connection is a compression fitting, which is not as easy to set up. - There is no power switch. I prefer to have an on/off switch instead of needing to unplug power from the outlet. - The attractive front cover blocks the ability to glance at the LED indicators for media life. The cover must be removed to check the status. Considerations… - This is a great option for installing under a sink with limited space. Be aware that a GFCI power outlet is required to power this unit, which uses a pump to improve the waste to pure ratio and to deliver quickly without a tank. - The dual faucet is novel, though I do not expect to use the filtered-only (non-RO) option. I prefer to use RO filtered water for drinking and cooking. - The media and RO cartridges were not shown for purchase at the time of my review and will be required to maintain this system. The box included the main unit, plumbing connection hardware, connection tubing, filter wrench, dual connection faucet, power supply and an installation and care manual. (See pics) Installlation is similar to other RO systems. Connect to the water supply, connect to a drain line (a power drill is required) and connect the tubing to the base unit and countertop faucet. Here's a tip: mark the tubing ends to the full insertion point, to be sure the tubing is fully inserted in the connectors. It is easy to think the tubing is fully inserted when it's not, only to experience leaking connections. Also, if cutting the tubing, it is best to leave enough excess length to be able to remove the base unit from the cabinet with the tubing still attached. Better quality water is on tap... no plastic bottles required. I've been using the Tokit AkuaPure U2 RO system for a while now, and I am very satisfied with the purchase. The system is not only effective at removing impurities from water but also adds essential minerals back in, ensuring that I'm drinking healthy, delicious water. (Attaching the TDS value from my test before and after the U2 RO filter) The design of the U2 is very compact, making it easy to fit into my kitchen. The installation process was straightforward with their very easy to understand instruction, and I was able to get the system up and running in no time. The water flow is fast and consistent, and I've noticed that it's significantly more water-efficient than other RO systems I've used in the past . One of the biggest advantages of the Tokit AkuaPure U2 is the cost of replacement filters. Compared to other popular brands, the filters for this system are much more affordable and , saving me money in the long run. The filter also has dual modes for different needs, though I didn’t find that too useful and still prefer to use RO for all my water needs. Overall, I'm very happy with the Tokit AkuaPure U2 RO system. It's a reliable, efficient, and affordable choice for anyone looking to improve the quality of their drinking water.

This RO filter takes limited space. The installation video in the page clearly explains how to put together the system without any hassle. Just follow the video, makes it easy. I was very skeptical about it's performance for the price but it's good and effective. I tested the water quality from this system against a very popular brand from my next door, astonishingly the results were almost similar. The customer service is very responsive and answered my after purchase questions . The only downside it's bit noisy and it uses strontium rich rock for remineralisation which I am not sure how effective

We had awful city water that either smelled like chemical or bleach, and it was extremely hard. We tried using fridge filters and pitchers, but they didn’t make much of a difference and cost us a lot. Installing the TOKIT U2 RO system was quick and easy—less than 30 minutes. The filtered water is incredibly clean and refreshing, My tea kettle is free of calcium buildup, and everything tastes better. The unit is compact, quiet, and definitely worth the investment. It fits under the sink nicely and i just ran a cable from dishwasher outlet to power it. Everyone should switch to reverse osmosis for better health.
