  • 5 stars for physical product, 3.5 stars for game content.

The product itself can only really be 5 stars. I got it on time, on cost and in new condition. The review for the game content itself is a bit different. Tldr; It's entertaining enough as a game in general. I feel I got my money's worth. Compared to other borderlands games, it's not as good, but introduces some cool new stuff. I've sunk a lot of hours into borderlands 1, 2 and 3. I've got about 100 in this title so far. It's running the same engine as BL3, so similar game play feel. What is most different, in my opinion, is the enemies, spells and map design. It has very good combat "flow". Once you dial in your character build and get some good weapons you'll be taking out enemies left and right, throwing spells, lead and abilities. It can be really fun and fast paced. Maps are massive and maze like. Like, so big and maze like that you'll need a few visits to find all the areas. I imagine this was done to facilitate the item collecting they want you to do. There is a LOT of stuff to find, and collect, hidden in the maps. Some of it feels kind of pointless. Other things, like lucky dice, will directly increase your loot luck and legendary drop rates. People seem to either love or hate this system. I'm on the fence. It does give a good balance to loot progression throughout the game. On the other hand, I can see why some people hate it. I've played a lot and still only have about 252/260 dice or somewhere about that. Luckily an update now ties lucky dice to your account, so you only need to find them all once. Looking at the games performance, it suffers a bit on Xbox one S. I knew going in that it was optimized for current gen series X/S, so I can't be too frustrated with it. That being said, the game will crash about every 4ish hours roughly. Almost always while scrolling through menu screens or transitioning into new zones. Luckily, auto saves are frequent and load times are reasonable (not like BL3 which takes forever to boot). I've never lost more than a few minutes of game play, and never lost an important drop. The game auto saves when you pick up items like legendary or unique skins. I suppose it's possible to lose something of value from a crash, it just hasn't happened to me, yet. Some areas will "chug" a bit. If you're playing on Xbox one, I wouldn't expect even rock solid 30fps. Textures are also slow to load at times, giving a muddy appearance. Basically, if you value these things highly, either try it on current Gen or give the game a pass. For me, the solid combat loop and beautiful world design is what sells it. I could ramble on about new item mechanics and drop rates but overall my opinion is "not bad". Worth playing if you understand the limitations of the game and enjoy other games in the series. It's BL but trying some new things. Some work, some don't. Overall I've had enough fun with it to justify the cost. 3.5/5 stars. ... show more

  • Absolutely fun, artfully designed game!
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
This is a very cool quite game that will keep you engrossed for hours. I started this game by just popping it in and walking in into Wonderland. I am about halfway through and after reading a bit about the game I realized I had missed certain things and people in the first couple of chapters. I was very tempted to quit and start again but I was enjoying it too much. Once again, this is a quite game, very enjoyable and well done. You really should purchase this! • Run and Gun at it's finest.
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
For those that don't know this is a continuation of the Borderlands franchise, so if you liked that, you'll like this one as well. It's a little different, mostly in the way you choose what area you'll be fighting in. It purposely has a kiddish initial interface as a touch of irony. Once past that, it's all Borderlands, with all the gun options and imaginative, over the top enemies. Very fun. Recommended for those that enjoy Borderlands franchise. ... show more
