My softener was drop-shipped from Tier1. The first one was missing a tube from the resin tank, and the seller took care of it by shipping another; however I now have to dispose of the old tank, thankfully I have a free dump voucher. I have no real issues with the seller. Tier1 on the other hand.... For the softener itself, it works, but the instructions are horrible, and information about thread sizes is incorrect. Instructions say 1", but it's actually 3/4. Programming is a single page of how to access the screens, and for each setting "set to xxx". For example the bypass, they say to set to "intelligent bypass" however they don't say what it does... Guess what, it only softens a PART of the water, not all of it. This works great if you have SUPER hard water (like 500+ ppm (or mg/l) but if you have medium hardness (around 200) this does NOTHING. I've tested before and after, with no measurable difference. I ended up switching to "No Bypass" to force all the water through the softener. They also don't tell you to run it in no bypass and flush the resin out after the first regen it does, if you don't the water tastes weird for a couple hundred gallons. This is not my first softener or install/rebuild. I've rebuilt a older 1970's unit and replaced the media and control head without issue. What I didn't know at the time was the actual condition of the water, and that I needed a bigger unit (it was a 24k grain) Tier1 needs to step up their documentation game, and fix the quality issues. Update 10/01/2020: Discount Filter Store customer service contacted me and made things right by giving a full refund. I'm changing my review to two out of five stars. Do yourself a favor and avoid purchasing this awful product. Here is a list of issues I have experienced over the last year half. 1. It was delivered without instructions. 2. The shipping packaging looked like it was a used product. 3. The valve was not programed correctly from the factory. 4. It has leaked air into my home’s piping multiples times. 5. It does not fully soften water. 6. The check air valve assembly failed and had to be replaced. 7. Second replacement valve came broken and missing parts. 8. Customer service is awful, unhelpful and they don’t seem to know their own product. 9. Valve head programing is not accurate. 10. Customer Service does not offer onsite service calls when the unit is not functioning properly. 11. After telling customer service I’m not satisfied with the product and want action to be taken they say they will talk to a supervisor and call back. They never do call back. 12. Tier 1’s Quality Control is so bad is should be a crime. 13. Tier 1 is an untrustworthy company that will not stand by their product or warranty. This is the single most regrettable purchase I have ever made. Please learn from my mistake and buy a unit from a local dealer who will offer onsite service. This softner is awesome, other brands cost 800-2000 more. I've run this unit through 50,000 gallons of water and test every month, and its zero hardness from 21 grains of my very hard well water. 2nd unit I installed, but I'll add that the fitting are male NPT..why Tier 1 does not state this I have no idea. Also take note this unit keeps water flowing during regeneration which is great..There has been multiple times that i had to get up early for a trip and I have no water, or my tenants complain that they cant take use water early in the AM. This is with Tier 1 other unit, the all digital model. Great tech support and product. Water feels great. Ill see how this does to treat my 12 ppm hardness well at my other property, which has a strong egg smell due to Hydrogen Sulfide. Will update. ... show more

I had a 20 year old water softener I had to replace. I had a plumber come in and put in the unit along with a whole house water filter. I had to call tech support to ask about the instructions that were included. The tech was out to lunch but I was told she would call back when she returned. She called me about 30 minutes later and answered all of my questions. Great customer service. The unit itself was easy enough to install for the plumber. I ran a regeneration cycle manually to start with and have let it do everything else on its own since install. The unit is working great. We have had softeners for over 20 years. just moved to a new place that did not have one. Installed the unit in about 2 hours. Which included the trip to the hardware store for PVC pipe. It has been working great and the water softness is as expected. If you have Iron in your water, this softener will not remove the dissolved iron, so you may want to look into an Iron filter if needed. Also. I recommend that you get this model with the Auto bypass when regenerating. the slightly cheaper model does not have that feature, the cheaper model will shut off your water during regeneration. ... show more

Yes, well made and arrived in good shape. My problem is with the instructions and the company website. The instructions did not pertain to the unit I purchased and the website did not help too much either. When I called the company the rep. said they were working on videos but did not have them for my unit. He was helpful however. I had to guess quite a bit before I called tech support.
