Removal kit does work but took at least 90 mins due to lack of space and awkward positioning. It would but great if kit came with a short hex bit for drill. The process would probably take 2 mins with such a tool. Use a hex wrench with a longer handle instead of the small one that's included. The cylinder was simple to install. It is much higher than my old one which is nice. It seems to hold my weight (240) with no problem so far. We will see how it fares in time. Also, although it's advertised as @1000 lb capacity the box clearly says 650 lbs. How are they so blatantly misleading costumers? Other than that, all is good so far. ... show more

    • Quick fix.

Other reviewers commented on how long it took to remove the old cylinder, but if you have a 1/4 in socket and an Allen bit it is very easy and quick to replace the unit. Chair feels great, should have replaced this a long time ago.

Easy to install. Package contains everything needed to remove old cylinder and install this one. This is much sturdier than the original. This order arrived two days after I ordered it.

    • Not a good replacement shock
Size: 4-3/4" (120mm)
The first and biggest problem with this cylinder kit is that it is way too big for most chairs. The original cylinder measured 7 inches, from the bottom to the top of the OUTER cylinder. This is the industry accepted measurement. The inner shock (the ram) is never measured. This claims to be 4 3/4 inches; the outer cylinder is closer to 10 inches. The second problem is the "tool" to remove the old shock. It doesn't work and I'm not willing to spend three hours trying. Don't bother with this replacement; already got a return code and it's going back to Amazon. ... show more

My previous chair cylinder had been failing so this has fixed the issue. The Removal Tool wasn't very useful so i ended up searching YouTube for a solution to remove the old cylinder. Turns out a good hammer did the job most efficiently.

I looked at the available products and decided on this one based on price and the fact that they included the “tool” for removing the seat. took my son about 45 minutes to replace the cylinder. The new one is super. The chair sits just a little higher which is good. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves their office chair but the cylinder is weak.

I purchased this Dec 23, it arrived Dec 28, 2023. My return window closed January 24, 2024. Which is right around the first time I noticed the cylinder wasn't staying at the setting. I prefer my chair tall so I keep the cylinder fully extended and after about a month the cylinder randomly collapsed about 1/2 an inch. Periodically it will do this which is pretty annoying. I'll be sitting in my office chair doing my office things, sippin' my morning coffee, and all of a sudden it drops a little bit for no apparent reason. I have found that its totally random and unpredictable. I can reset the cylinder and it might last 5 days or it might drop again within 3 minutes. Installation was easy and the tools worked perfectly, would have given it 5 stars but it's just disappointing. I weigh around 195lbs so I believe there maybe a design or quality issue causing this because I am no where near the specified supported weight. ... show more
