  • Fits - Almost Perfect with some DIY
The media could not be loaded. The original Leica is way to expensive and an alternative is always a risk. So after getting the thumb grip, I gently placed it on the camera. The force was too high, so I decided to compare it to the size to the flash contact cover that comes with the camera. The difference was less than 0.4mm, which is hardly noticeable. Neither the less, with some fine sanding paper, I could easily reach the perfect balance between force and stability. The extra 15min work saved me 200++ USD compared to the original Leica part. Highly recommend for those that don’t mind DIY tasks. The part itself looks very solid with gumi protection against scratching the camera pain. ... show more

  • Nice positioning for a thumb grip, seems like the other cheaper thumb grips out there
I've been using this on my Q2M as a thumb grip. I didn't like the Leica branded thumb grip, made the button harder to push. ANd I didn't want to spend over $125 for the next recommended thumb grip, so I ordered this much more affordable alternative instead. It was a pretty tight fit on my Q2M flash shoe, but since I almost never use the flash shoe on the Q2M, I decided it wasn't a big deal. This one curves around the back button pretty well. No sharp edges so the thumb slides down finding the back button much better. I had a different thumb grip that I sold with my Q2 that the edges were sharp and made the grip uncomfortable. This one is much better. As for the finish, it looks okay on the Q2M, mine came with a little scratch on the finish, so I imagine the "brassing" will be rapid, but I'm not usually concerned about that on the Leica. ... show more

  • Tight fit
I read other reviews and they were right: the metal portion of the thumb grip that fits into the hot shoe is a bit too thick and will scratch the black finish of the hot shoe--not a good quality for a camera that costs what the Q2 does. I followed other suggestion and filed down some of the thickness; while still a tight fit, I feel a little better about it but won't be removing/inserting it much. (I use a flash only infrequently.) On the plus side, the rest of the grip is properly sized and fits the camera perfectly. If does not get in the way of any buttons and fits the small indention of the camera body well. For the cost, this is probably worth getting. ... show more

  • This is a TIGHT Fit
I'm not sure why zon of the Ama got rid of my first review, but now I don't have an unboxing video of using this for the very first time. Smh. Lame. Believe me when I say that - right out of the box - the grip will fit but it it TIGHT. Like, once it's in there it's basically stuck. My original post showed this but again the zon of the Ama got rid of it bc of some community lines of the guide. Smh. But, I'm not going to mince words here. Nope. Not me. If you want this to fit, you will have to use a filer of some sort to remove bits of the paint. I did that and I'm able to remove it now. You can see what i mean by some of the pics I uploaded. Otherwise, I wouldn't use it if I couldn't make it fit. It does feel nice and solid though. ... show more
