As a full-time product photographer, I had worked with macro lenses since the beginning. I wanted to upgrade my lens to something that could still do a superb job at product photography but also allow me to branch out and start exploring landscape and street photography. This lens is the lens for that! I've attached a few photos showing different products. I'm so surprised at how well this compares to the Sigma 70mm Macro that I was using. In fact, it's far better than my macro lens for product photography. The glass is so clean and sharp and the ability to have between 24-70mm really helps with composing different shots for various sizes of products. The focus range is also excellent - I can get right up to a product and take macro-like shots with no problem. I haven't tested video performance yet but I am really excited to throw on my 82mm VND or 82mm Cinebloom Mist Filter and try it out. ... show more

Ok, it’s still early but my first impression of this lens is fantastic! Everything I read and watched online seems to be correct. It’s a well built, tight responsive lens that snaps to focus quickly. I also have the Sony 24-105 f/4 and it is very comparable in every form. Where the Sigma takes the lead is of course in low light situations. I do mainly still photos and very little video with my a9 so I really can’t speak to that, but the crispness and detail with the Sigma so far is great! Now . . .let’s not forget that it is literally HALF the price of the Sony 24-70!!! Take that extra cash and by a second lens! ... show more

    • Sigma = EXCELLENT quality and even better VALUE
My preference has been to use OEM lenses on my cameras, but I would never be reluctant to use Sigma as well. I purchased 2 of these incredible lenses for pretty much the price of the equivalent Sony one and the performance has been virtually identical. I look forward to more Sigma lenses in my kit! Many place Tamron on the same level as Sigma but in my experience they're not close at all. Tamron feels a little cheaper overall. Really, more like what you'd expect for a value lens. Sigma on the other hand, particularly their Art series, is TOP grade! ... show more

Delivered perfectly, not even a dent on the box. As far as the lens goes I had seen some mixed reviews online. Im sure you’re doing your research as well. But it shoots really crisp. Autofocus works great. The bokeh at 70mm is pretty nice. But overall I was expecting to be somewhat let down with a zoom lens, even at this price. So a pleasant surprise. Significantly smaller and lighter than the sony 24-70 G-Master, and focuses RIDICULOUSLY close. Gives an absolutely beautiful bokeh and is incredibly sharp. Autofocus works flawlessly - I can't observe any difference between G-Master and Sigma.

Great value compared to Sony 2.8. This lens has become my primary for A7r iv. Fantastic picture and video quality with just as fast auto focus as much more expensive Sony. Great deal with included hard drive.

I got the Sony FX3 with this and it is rocking! It is a little too sharp lol. But seriously it seems to check my boxes for run and gun shooting on projects. It is big and heavy and the lens does come in and out at different focal lengths so its not a great lens for the gimbal. I also like the 1TB storage. Its not fast but it will do for backing up projects. ... show more

    • Bang up deal, but the external hard drive sucks
I love this lens! It is amazing! The external hard drive however... It is kinda crappy. I have only used it a few times, and decided not to use it any more. It has a difficult time connecting to my computer unless you put the cord in a just right place. Otherwise it is constantly connecting and disconnecting. I was so excited about this hard drive too! Too bad! I mainly purchased for the lens, but the perk of the external hard drive and SD card... Who wouldn't object to such a bang up deal! This is a great value for the cost. I just wish the hard drive was better. ... show more
