The EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Lens from Canon is a telephoto zoom lens ideal for day-to-day use because it is particularly light and compact, especially given its long focal reach. Able to magnify distant subjects, it also compresses the space between subjects within the frame and with a shallow depth of field at its longer lengths, it offers attractive out of focus bokeh. Its minimum focus distance is 4.9', even at the telephoto end of its zoom. Versatile telephoto focal range ideal for portraiture and magnifying distant subjects. When used on an APS-C format camera the equivalent focal length range is 120-480mm.     • Great budget package if you want a nice lens to get closer to those distant subjects
I was pretty surprised to find a lens that was this cheap with the focal lengths I was looking for. The other canon lenses can be up to $2000 for a 75-200 f4. So I just had to try this out, and was pleasantly surprised. I've used this lens plenty of times for photos and video since I got it. At 75mm it's pretty sharp and at 300mm it's still sharp enough. There are some color artifacts and minor visual issues, but most people who view the images produced by this lens wouldn't see anything, and I've only really noticed them when I've been looking for them. Considering how cheap this lens is I think it's definitely a worth while purchase. The little extensions that come with this package were cheap and fairly awful in my opinion. They made the image through the lens softer and cloudy. I kept mine just in case I want to use it for some artistic effect, but for their advertised function I wouldn't suggest them. The little filter kit that comes with it is nice to have. I haven't really used them other than the UV filter (but I just like to have UV filters to protect my lenses from unexpected contact and wear from cleaning). It's also nice to get a lens hood, soft lens pouch, and some more cleaning supplies. Overall, I'm happy I got this lens, and if you can't afford a more expensive lens I think this will serve you well until you can afford the upgrade. Oh... um... build quality wise, it's a plastic barrel that is lightweight but not as sturdy as metal housings. I don't think there's any mention about it being weather sealed, and I wouldn't risk using this in very rainy or sandy situations just in case. ... show more

We use these for student filmmaking classes. They are good workhorses, and are fairly accessible to kids, while offering a full suite of photographic and cinematographic capacity.

For the most part it’s ok. But the 2X does not work as intended. When I put it on the image is foggy. Can not use it at all.

Great lens to start with! There is a lot of complaints about the sharpness but I love it! Great value lens. Easy to focus, and doesn’t add a lot of weight to the rig.

Received this as Christmas gift! When I finally got the opportunity to use product discovered it would not fit my EOS R50 camera. It was out of the return window so I'm stuck with items I cannot use.
