Description

Want to learn how to work with electronics and programming but need a little help? You've come to the right place! ELEGOO UNO R3 Starter Kit provides an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software, which evolves the user from beginner to professional level. Our starter kit is designed to get you started quickly and easily on your path of learning electronics. Originally this pack was designed to follow the introductory tutorials with 33 creative and fun projects. But it's a great starter kit in general as it's designed for everyone even novices who have very little or no electronics and programming experience. The starter bundle contains everything you need (except tools) to take your first step on electronics journey! Electronics is not as complicated as you imagine especially with ELEGOO UNO R3 Starter Kit. For advanced users like professional lab engineers, electronics engineering students and experienced electronic hobbyists, they can use this kit to do various kinds of tests and experiments with so many sensors available at hand. Beginners can follow the included tutorial step by step to learn basic circuit building and programming, while students, makers, and experienced hobbyists can use the included sensors and modules for prototyping and experimentation. Explore projects involving LEDs, displays, buttons, motion and distance sensing, motors, RFID, timing, and other common electronics applications. The wide component selection makes it possible to progress from simple exercises to more complex multi-module projects at your own pace. Quantity and quality are both important here in ELEGOO UNO R3 starter kit. We offer other over 60 kinds of components and sensors from small parts like LED diodes, resistors and potentiometers to big parts like LCD1602, RFID module and 830 tie-points breadboard, which meet your demands for your different projects either it is simple or complex. Sturdy quality is definitely the most important thing to ELEGOO even with so many components provided we never compromised on the quality. Instead we keep improving our product quality in our own factory and we produce the products by ourselves under high standards and strict quality control. Pins and wires on some of the parts like LCD1602 and motors have been pre-soldered which is very convenient and saves your time. 74HC595 is a Serial to Parallel Converter which has eight outputs and three inputs that you use to feed data into it a bit at a time. This chip makes it a little slower to drive the LEDs (you can only change the LEDs about 500,000 times a second instead of 8,000,000 a second) but it's still really fast, way faster than humans can detect, so it's worth it! 74HC595 shift register is a type of chip that holds what can be thought of as eight memory locations, each of which can either be a 1 or a 0. To set each of these values on or off, we feed in the data using the 'Data' and 'Clock' pins of the chip. LCD1602 module is a display that has an LED backlight and can display two rows with up to 16 characters on each row. You can see the rectangles for each character on the display and the pixels that make up each character. The display is just white on blue and is intended for showing text. Lining up the display with the top of the breadboard helps to identify its pins without too much counting, especially if the breadboard has its rows numbered with row 1 as the top row of the board. Do not forget, the long yellow lead that links the slider of the pot to pin 3 of the display. The 'pot' is used to control the contrast of the display. In this project you will learn how to control a small DC motor using an UNO R3 and a L293D transistor, which is a very useful chip. It can actually control two motors independently. We are just using half the chip in this lesson, most of the pins on the right hand side of the chip are for controlling a second motor. The L293D is a quadruple high-current half-H driver designed for bidirectional control of DC motors and other inductive loads. It supports continuous output current of up to 600 mA per channel with a supply-voltage range of 4.5 to 36 V. ELEGOO STEM kits provide all the necessary components, sensors, wires, and boards for you to get started with programming, learning electronics, and creating IoT projects. We strive our best to make STEM education easy to learn and accessible to the young generation. Chris, the founder of ELEGOO, found out that most enterprises in the STEM industry focused on the hardware of open-source electronics and did not have tools to create a complete product by combining electronic hardware and structural shells. We have excellent R&D team, constantly upgrading and improving products, and after-sales service team for quick support. 100% compatible with Arduino, ELEGOO's kits are best-practice for beginners who have no appropriate technical tools to learn about electronics.

  • Amazing Kit for Learning Arduino
Color: V1.0
I'm writing this as someone who has never used an Arduino before and this kit contains everything a person new to Arduino could ever ask for! The plethora of sensors and modules kept me entertained ever since I've received my kit and I highly recommend this to anyone ambitious enough to learn something new. Note I say "ambitious" since the provided lessons are more or less just demos to what's in the kit and proper research is required for a deeper understanding of what exactly your doing. If you really want to learn how to use the Arduino and its IDE there are lots of videos and websites that likely already have a solution to whatever issues or questions you may have. There were however minor issues with the kit that I can easily overlook, but I thought I should still point them out: - The kit comes with a relay that isn't attached to a PCB and because of that it doesn't exactly fit on the bread board. This wouldn't have been a huge issue since I thought I could use the wires with female headers, but the pins on the relay are too short and thin for a secure connection. However, what I found entertaining was that the lessons provided recommended that I bend one of the pins of the relay in order to use it with the breadboard. I did exactly that and the relay did fit on the breadboard, but it now also has a crooked pin. - This is most likely a issue with my package, but the case came with a small crack on on of the corners of the lid. This might be due to shipping, but none of the components seemed to be damaged so I guess the case did its job protecting the items. - The included jumper wires aren't the best quality and as when I'm writing this review I've broken the tips of 3 wires already. However they do their job of being wires just fine and I can always get replacements or just use actual wires with the ends striped off. - The included 9V battery actually contains lead which is actually considered hazardous waste so it'll be inconvenient when I need to properly dispose of it. Overall this is a great kit to start learning and experimenting with an Arduino and the amount of things you get is definitely worth the price. If Elegoo does decide to refresh this kit I would recommend replacing the included disk with something such as a USB flash drive since most modern computers no longer come with a DVD drive (Note: the lessons, documentation, and libraries for this kit is available for download on Elegoo's website which is what I used). ... show more

  • Amazing Value and a Ton of Fun!
Color: V1.0
I was looking for an Arduino clone starter kit and considered many options. I’m an Electrical Engineer with 15+ years experience designing, manufacturing and testing space flight electrical hardware for satellites. I have a very high standard for quality and was hesitant to purchase this kit due to its low price and my fears that it would be total junk. However, I figured the price was so darn low that even if it turned out to be junk, it wouldn’t be a huge waste. Wow, am I glad I bought this! First, the set arrives in a very useful organizer. I found this to be a really nice feature and helps save time when searching for parts to build each different project. Upon initial inspection, the quality of each component appeared very acceptable. Definitely low-quality parts — as you’d rightfully expect at this price point — but certainly no where near “junk” quality. By low-quality, I’m referring to mostly the solder quality, but also the individual piece-parts used in the assemblies are your standard Chinese low-grade parts. Some soldered parts were installed misaligned and some PCB assemblies still had visible contamination on them from inadequate washing. Again, this is all to be expected at this price point and so far, I was very pleased. The real test is if everything worked... I completed all the tutorials and found the instructions very easy to follow. A CD is included in the kit, which supposedly contains all the required software, tutorials and datasheets. My laptop doesn’t have a CD ROM drive so I downloaded everything on the Elegoo website. That’s probably the best option anyway — that way, you know you are using the latest versions of everything. The datasheets were a nice-to-have, although some of them were not as detailed as they should be. Still useful nonetheless. The tutorial manual was clearly written — it’s definitely not poorly translated Chinese-to-English like I expected. It’s entirely written in clear English. In some places, I wish it did a better job explaining the code and syntax, but honestly, that’s something Google can handle. Every tutorial was completed easily and I discovered only one technical mistake: the tutorial on DC motor control omitted a ground jumper between the Arduino board and the breadboard/motor controller board. Consequently, the control signal logic levels were not correctly referenced to the same ground potential on both boards. The motor did not respond correctly at first but some quick troubleshooting lead me to add the ground connection and everything worked flawlessly after that. I’ve tested every component in the kit now and everything works as intended. I’m a little bit surprised at this but very, VERY happy. This kit has been a ton of fun to play with. It’s perfect for anyone wanting to get started with Arduinos. It has so many different cool components that this will keep you entertained and get your creative juices flowing. I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • Great starter kit, some of the parts are cheap, but most are good.
Color: V1.0
Overall this is a good started set, it comes with enough to do many beginner projects. The Elegoo UNO board has performed just as well as the real Ardruino board. I have been testing every project on this board and a legit Arduino board and have found no differences at all. This board works perfectly with the Arduino IDE. Most of the included parts are great and work perfectly for beginner projects, however I do have some complaints and problem with a few parts. The included resisters do work, and show the correct resistance when tested with a multi-meter, however they are some of the cheapest resistors I have ever seen, the wire is so ridiculously thin that it is annoying to insert into the breadboard without bending them, also when you do get it inserted they are so small that the bread board does not grip them well, I have had to wiggle them around and change slots on the breadboard to find the tightest slot in order to get a solid connections. The included Mosfet transistors are very small and weak, using them for the standard DC motor tutorial caused them to get extremely hot and burn out, I replaced them with stronger mosfets. I had trouble with the rotary encoder, I am not entirely sure if it is defective or if the problem is on my end, it works, but not well. I have tried almost everything from this kit, I will come back and update this review if I encounter any more problems. Another thing that bothers me is that they do not include any technical specifications on any of the parts, no diagrams showing what pins are for what, no information on what the part is rated for. You can find this information for most of the parts by googling the part number, but some parts dont have any identifying marks. The pictures I added show a real Arduino board, but I did test everything with both the Elegoo UNO and the real UNO and worked the same on both, I just forgot to take the picture when the Elegoo board was connected. Overall this has been a fun starting kit and I do enjoy it and feel it was a good purchase. ... show more

  • FUN FOR THE BRAIN
Color: V1.0
Lotta good stuff to mess with! I’m 80 so I’m not smart about it but I like to “mess” with it to see what I can do. (Ain’t gonna go in no “home” until my last brain cell is gone.) And, domestically, it pretty much keeps me out of trouble, too. Woulda liked a few more written instructions with the kit. But, probably, that’s just me. (The 80-year old thing, remember?) But Amazon to the rescue. There’s some good written instructional offerings available. Okay, if you see an 80 year old waving an Oregon State Beaver flag on the moon, you’ll know I wrote the program to put me in the correct orbit! ... show more

  • Nice pack of generic components
Color: V1.0
First off, the components included are not very high quality. That being said, I just recieved the second kit I ordered. The R3 itself, feels solid. Nice solder points, quality board, the quality statement was not written about the board. The breadboard on the other hand feels very cheap. The resistors are nicely seperated, but quality was not their strong point. None of these components are top of the line, but that's the reason all of this can be sold for this cheap. It's an amazing assortment for someone getting into arduino/getting back into electronics without having to hunt out a bunch of random parts. After I played with the first kit, I bought a second for an extra R3 and more parts. No regrets. Great for prototyping, great for tinkering. The instruction manual it comes with was kind of a let down at the beginning, the first few pages tell you what you're doing, then suddenly drops into "copy the given code into the IDE, set up your breadboard like this, and you're done". I guess I was expecting teaching the whole way through, but you can't walk around the Internet without tripping over PDFs teaching arduino programming and analog circuits if you're into this sort of thing. And the manual is nice for when you just need a quick setup because you don't know how a specific part works. I'd recommend this unless you already have a bunch of parts already laying around. If/when I need another arduino like item, I might even get one more of these. ... show more
