Confidently transport your favorite water sport gear with a kayak carrier from Thule. The Thule 835PRO Hull-a-Port Pro Rooftop Kayak Carrier is a premium vertical-oriented carrier designed for easy installation, economic use of space, easy loading and unloading on any vehicle and a folding fuel efficient design. Featuring a folding J-profile, the 835PRO Hull-a-Port PRO provides for easy-to-access angled loading from the side of the vehicle, a maximum total of up to four kayaks per vehicle, depending on available space (additional 835PRO carriers sold separately) and a folding design that improves gas mileage by minimizing wind resistance Additional features include: 100 percent tool-free installation, rust-resistant coating and hardware and four touchpoints of adjustable padding. View larger.Efficient and Effective J-Cradle Design The Thule 835PRO Hull-a-Port PRO Rooftop Kayak Carrier is the right kayak carrying solution for paddlers whose concerns in a carrier are split between efficiency and ease of use. Designed around two folding J-profile Hull-a-Port carrier assemblies, each attached to a roof rack load bar and containing four adjustable touchpoints of padding, the Hull-a-Port PRO allows kayaks of all shapes and sizes to safely lean on their sides, with the cockpit facing out. This vertical stowage position is safe, aerodynamic and secure in transport and poses no danger of warping to boats when they are stowed correctly. Vertical stowage and transport also efficiently uses the precious space atop your roof rack, allowing for up to four Hull-a-Port PRO carriers to be used at once on certain vehicles, or leaving room for other roof rack accessories to share space with the 835PRO. The Thule Hull-a-Port PRO Rooftop Kayak Carrier is also easy to load and unload by 1-2 people. Mounted close to the side of a vehicle, once drained, kayaks are easily lifted and held in place by the padded J-profile Hull-a-Port design. The Hull-a-Port Pro also contains simple, but substantial aerodynamic improvements over other similar carriers. The first of these is that when it is not loaded, a lift of a lever allows its two Hull-a-Port support assemblies to fold flat onto your roof rack. This instantly reduces wind resistance on moving vehicles, thus improving gas mileage. This functionality also allows for better clearance around low branches, garages and the like. In a similar fashion a pocket in the lower pad of the Hull-a-Port PRO can be used to securely hold excess lengths of straps used to tie off kayaks. Tucking straps away like this reduces the chances of them coming loose in transit and cuts down on noise they generate as wind blows by them. Optimally sized J-profile carrier leaves roof space for multiple boats or other Thule accessories. View larger. Foldable Hull-a-Port PRO assemblies minimizes wind resistance, improving gas mileage and reducing noise. View larger. The Thule Hull-a-Port PRO Rooftop Kayak Carrier features completely tool-free installation. Its two J-profile cradles can be mounted quickly and securely using only a combination of bolts and mounting knobs on virtually any roof rack, including all Thule base racks, round cross bars and factory installed roof racks with cross bars. It also includes two straps to secure each end of kayaks to J-profile Hull-a-Port PRO assemblies and your roof rack, as well as bow and stern ¼-inch rope tiedowns with hooks, and ratcheting attachments to further secure mounted kayaks at the front and rear via your bumper, tow hook or trailer hitch by way of your kayak's grab handles. About Thule Thule was founded in 1942 by the Thulin family, when Eric Thulin, a true lover of the outdoors, put the Thule name on a pike trap he designed and began to sell in Scandinavia. It wasn't long before he added other practical items to the company's portfolio. By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate on car-related products, including its first roof rack. The Thulin family sold Thule to the publicly listed company Eldon in 1979, and it has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions ever since. The Thule Group is a world leader in providing transport solutions for an active life.

  • Great product
Style: Thule Hull-a-port Pro Kayak Roof Rack
These are durable and very functional for many many years of use and abuse! Holds my kayaks securely on the Thule aero bars even at 80 mph (in 70 mph speed zones of course :) ) without the use of front and back securing lines. The Thule straps that come with the set which hold the kayaks to these foldable kayak holders are more than enough for securing the kayaks firmly. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Expensive but worth it
Style: Thule Hull-a-port Pro Kayak Roof Rack
All the Thule equipment is super expensive but I think it's worth it. You're getting solidly built gear, usually with smartly designed features. This kayak rack is easy to install on your existing crossbars. and you can fold them down flat just by pulling a handle, for when you are not using them but want to leave them on the car. Includes great straps as well as bow and stern ropes. A big heavy kayak on the highway with strong wind forces will do much better on the Glide and Set, which I also have. This is great for most kayaks and on my car roof I can take 2 boats, one on each. This HulaPort helps in that regard because its uses less width of the car. For a tall SUV, it will be easier for one person to load onto the Glide and Set by yourself, rather than the HullaPort. ... show more

  • High Quality - UPDATE
Style: Thule Hull-a-port Pro Kayak Roof Rack
Perfect kayak racking system for my 4Runner. Easy to install, very sturdy and the folding racks have a spring loaded design that locks them in either the up or down position. In the down position I have plenty of room to get my truck into my garage without removing them. They do create some wind noise at highway speeds, but not too bad as long as I leave the sunroof closed. Also comes with easy to follow instructions and tips, as well as lines and straps you will need when you use them. Definitely recommend these. UPDATE: Still love these racks, but wanted to pass along one potential issue for Hobie owners with Mirage drives. Be aware that when you load the boats, take care to NOT align the Mirage drive slot in the hull with one of the J-racks. We learned the hard way that the bottom curved end of the J-rack is a perfect fit for the Mirage slot, and you can easily get you boat hung up while its over your head and not secure. All you have to do is be aware of this and ensure the Mirage slot is a foot or so away horizontally from the J-rack, and the boat will easily slide into place. Once its on the roof you can slide the boat forward or aft to get the placement you want to have. Or simply adjust the position on the roof mounts, but just FYI on the Hobie Mirage slot and avoiding potential issues. ... show more

  • As advertised
Style: Thule Hull-a-port Pro Kayak Roof Rack
I bought two sets of these to transport our two kayaks. I own a Jackson Cuda 14 and my girlfriend has a Tarpin 12. Both boats are very wide at just over 30 inches, and the racks hold them no problem. I really don`t understand some of the issues I`ve read about where the boats slide down and out of the cradles (?) I`ve had zero issues with boat movement thus far. I, like others, simply can`t give a product 5 stars if it can be stolen in less than 3 minutes. However, to deal with this threat I went down to my local West Marine store and grabbed four short lengths of SS wire and some crimps. Simply wrap wire around the cradle and the bar and crimp the ends together, I also put a short length of shrink tube around the connection to clean up the look a little. A lot tougher to steal and if I ever need to remove them, an easy snip and they`re off. Great as long as the local bottom feeders aren`t walking around with large wire cutters in there pockets.....so far they are not ; } Rod in Vancouver ... show more

  • Great quality
Style: Thule Hull-a-port Pro Kayak Roof Rack
This item is well made and will definitely hold a Kayak but I had to return the item because it did not fit that great on the crossbar for my expedition. I was disappointed because of the great quality.

  • Excellent kayak rack
Style: Thule Hull-a-port Pro Kayak Roof Rack
Initial mounting is easy, and they hold the kayaks really well. I can reach the rack's folding release bar mounted on my Subaru Tribeca without stepping up (I'm 5'8"). Typical excellent straps included, and you tuck in the strap ends by un-velcroing the rack pad. The kayaks ride well without shifting (& I only use the blue straps, not the tip and tail tie-downs). Really nice padding. Racks look nice when lowered. I bought 2 of these to replace the Thule Stacker, which I found too hard to balance the kayak & strap it down at the same time (while standing on a stepstool, no less). Plus they ride much better, without shifting front to back or to the side. Nicely made & sturdy, easy to install. I'm very happy with these. I only wish there was a locking mechanism. ... show more

  • Great, the Best rack made!
Style: Thule Hull-a-port Pro Kayak Roof Rack
By far, the best rack made. Why did Thule discontinue? Mystery to me. The last two I had both lasted over 15 years and what made me buy new ones was not the actual rack failing but the pads wore out, and to replace all the pads cost around $150 if you could find them.

  • Works amazing...
Style: Thule Hull-a-port Pro Kayak Roof Rack
I got my 835PRO about a month ago, and I love it. I've used it several times already and haven't had a single problem with it. I don't think it could be any easier to use than it already is, and the straps that come with it are sooo nice, especially the front and rear tie downs. I've gone down the highway at 65-70 mph and my kayak doesn't even budge. In case your wondering, I have: 11' Mazda 3 hatchback w/ Thule roof rack system w/ Aero Blade load bars. My kayak is 11' long. ... show more
