The high quality footage and easy integration have helped me to love this product. I used the hard-wire setup that I purchased to hard wite it into the car so that it always remains charged. As such, I can't speak to battery function of plugging it into the 12 v outlet in the car. Mounting the camera was simple and the guide easy to follow. The app used to connect to the camera works well. The camera has a network you can connect to that will transmit information to the phone without the use of cables. I found that I would lose service when connected since I had wifi calling selected on my phone (my house had poor phone service). Once wi-fi calling was turned off, I no longer experienced this issue and could be connected to the camera and use my data. I believe that was more of an issue with my phone settings than anything else. The camera continues to serve me well and exceed my expectations. I recently had a problem with my hardwiring set up - not due to quality of the product but due to other reasons. ThinkWare quickly replaced the product and their customer service was excellent.

The camera is great. I have it installed on my Mustang GT premium performance pack that i rarely drive. Video quality is good in 4k but the 4k only shoots 30FPS so i use the 1440p mode for 60fps which is good enough ( should be 4k 60fps for the price imo) the real issue is the thinkware dashcam app that you have to download. It's the epitome of hot dog water. Holy cow. The files get corrupted so easily on the app (when you pull the SD card the files are there fine the app just cant see them) the GPS NEVER worked so any of the cloud functions are just broken. I am a software engineer, lmk if you need someone to help you build a functional app because your app is horrendous and you should honestly be ashamed. Update 2024: camera has fully died doesn't take power. Would not buy again

I have had this camera system for a few years now. Two complaints: reading license plates is not as easy as some reviews I have read, I call B.S.. second: after a few years the speaker began to static when first turned on - I suspect this is because of the Texas heat coupled with the heat of the front facing unit. That being said, it's a pretty clear picture and video - both front and rear cameras. It does record sound in the cabin if you choose to turn on that feature. This system also shows speed. I am overall satisfied and despite the static when first turned on now, I would still give this set up a five star rating. I have had these two cameras in four different vehicles that I have purchased. Pretty resilient wiring if you're careful on install and removal.

I bought this new in early 2020, it was installed for less than two years before the speaker started to go. I got hit almost exactly 2 years after it was installed to find out the system and card has failed and Thinkware customer service cannot be bothered to answer my calls, chats or reply to emails. Very disappointed. It worked great, but for only 20-24 months for such a premium system and high price is deplorable.

Keeps on giving errors every few hours about the memory card that it needs to be formatted. The dash cam won't even be able to format the SD card and you have to format with your PC. By the way I have only been using Thinkware SD cards so that there are no compatibility issues. Other problem is that the dash cam loses all the custom settings and resets to factory settings every 5-6 days. Have contacted Thinkware several times and tried everything including using the latest firmware, dash cam and cards were exchanged but still no difference. So annoying after spending all this money and wasting all this time in the hope that this thing would work. Complete waste. Icing on the cake is that Thinkware won't even accept the return saying that the return window has closed (in the meantime that you were trying different things and hoping against hope that this thing might work). Please don't make the same mistake. Update 11/21/23 I am updating my review after about one and a half years. Thinkware sent me a couple of replacements and the last one they sent has been working well. I an pleasantly surprised that I have not had an error for more than a year now. I am not sure what worked this time but I also made some changes to the settings of Thinkware app as well. "Continuous priority" in the Memory partition "Format memory card" includes overwrite all kinds of videos "Resolution" 4K30fps "Parking mode" Energy saving" "Network function" disabled After making these changes the camera has been recording without any errors. FYI I mostly keep the camera while while driving only. I am not sure but I believe there are some problems with the software (although it has been up to date) that overheated the system and made the device to lose it's custom settings and restore factory settings repeatedly but somehow with changing the settings it works ok. By the way I have been able to use "Sandisk Extreme micro sd card 250 gb) without any problems which provides much more space and at a fraction of the cost as compared to thinkware memory cards (FYI I had Thinkware memory card initially and it did not do me any good). By the way this dash cam's video quality is outstanding and works well at night too. I am give to increase the "Star rating" now since this dash cam has been working now and I want to be fair. I am going to increase star rating from 1 to 4 now.
