  • It's a breeze!
Model: Android
I'm a novice but this is a really easy to use product. You plug it into your phone, download the program and within five minutes you're ready to go! I do wish that they provided some sort of training, there are youtube videos on how to angle it to avoid reflections etc. etc. but this does seem a bit like an artform in a way to using it and understanding it. Thankfully the app seems very intuitive and being able so see heat is hugely helpful for Every Homeowner. It's pocket size but I feel like I'm more worried about scratching the lens, battery life seems okay and I'm shocked that you can select objects and the lens will tell you what temperature it is. Seems functional and accurate and adjusting zoom etc. is super easy. ... show more

  • Can not fix the upper temperature range.
Model: Android
It does work and I think it works well, but I am annoyed that I can't set a fixed temperature range and expect this to be consistent. There is a setting that allows you to enter a fixed range, and it seems to work for the lower bound. It also works as an upper bound *if* you're looking at something that is at least that hot. When you're not, though, the thing will treat the hottest thing you're looking at as that upper bound. I want consistent colors for temperatures so I can tell how hot something is by that color. I like being able to auto-range too if I want to ask questions like 'what is hottest' or 'what is coldest', but it's annoying to answer questions like 'Is anything over x degrees' at a glance. ... show more

  • Awesome
Model: Android
I have a several year old FLIR camera and got this recently. This thing performs about as well and the app is quite easy to use. The fact that it's tiny is both great and terrible - easy to carry around but super easy to drop and lose.

  • Beware of security issues
Model: Android
Firstly, the QR code in the booklet takes you to their site to download their app. And it requests for your permission to gain access to your Google Drive. Why? Secondly, if you are smart enough to not grant this permission and go to the Google Playstore instead to download the app, that app requires your permission to grant access to location, storage, and camera. Okay, granting camera access is understandable. But why location and storage? This feature of location and storage may or may not be useful for some, so there should at least be an option to opt out, but no. You either comply or you cannot use the device. Some have granted permission then turned off the location and storage permission, but turning off storage permission affects the operation of the thermalcamera. This appears to be a data collection device which attempts to gain access to your phone to gather personal data not only through the device itself, but also somehow gain access to your internal phone storage information. The capabilities and price point are intentionally made attractive to the unbeknownst buyer for potential nefarious purposes by the Chinese government. I highly do not recommend the use of this questionable thermal camera. You are warned. ... show more

  • Incredibly sensitive thermal camera with outstanding resolution
Model: Android
Thermal cameras have come a very long way in a short span of time. Usually they are low resolution with a wide temperature range and a bit bulky. This is an incredible piece of tiny technology has both a wide temperature range but the video resolution is at least twice as good as the last camera I used (See pictures). It's also very sensitive, in the review images you can see my thermal footprints. It's unbelievable how long they remain after you've walked past. Add to that an easy to use interface, a magnetically held on MACRO lens, and this is a home run. This comes boxed up very well. If you are into unboxing - you'll be happy with the packaging this came in. Save it to store your camera in. This is being used with a new mid range Android tablet. It comes with a USB-C extension cable to allow you to hold the camera separately, which I didn't find very useful. Some additional notes/tips from my experience with the camera. Make sure your tablet or phone is FULLY charged!! This camera uses battery life more quickly than I anticpated. Since I bought a tablet specifically for this camera, no big deal, but on phones with battery constraints, this will suck your battery life down quickly. Take your time to get your image setup & orientated correctly before surveying. Easy enough to do but it can initially be confusing. This app has a lot of features and I'm still learning all it can do. The macro lens works great looking at skin and coins, I'll know more later when my new Raspberry PI arrives and I can look at the board under operation. When not in use - keep the macro lens with lens cover on the camera to help protect the camera and lenses. Great camera that works very, very, very well. I recommend this. ... show more

  • Good hardware, fair software
Model: Android
I'm trying this out after using a similar unit from former "competitor" (wink wink) InfiRay. As expected, the hardware form factor is identical, and the image performance seems comparable. The macro lens is great for troubleshooting electronics, and also makes a very convenient protective cover when the unit isn't in use. The software is a little bit annoying. It seems to take more clicks than the older software to do anything - you need an extra click or two to start seeing an image from the camera, you need at least two clicks to take a photo, and so on. It occasionally freezes, but I can usually recover by backing out to the start screen, without having to unplug the camera. The "X3 resolution enhancement" feature is a bit of a mixed bag. It sharpens edges, but seems to smooth out detail in areas of more gradual change. I've included a couple of test photos with and without enhancement turned on. This is a good and useful product. I hope they'll continue to improve the software, but it's already usable in its current state. Recommended. ... show more
