This was one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. I have 2 Great Dane mixed puppies that are about 4 months old and trying to keep them isolated in one room or out of the cat room where the litter box is located has been challenging. This item has been perfect for our needs. Was easy to install and use. Could not be happier. No longer have to block doors with heavy random objects. I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of installation and use of this product. It works well and is easy to get in and out of the closet for litter box changes. It keeps the dogs out but allows the cat free movement. The metal is flexible yet durable. I would buy this again.

The media could not be loaded. I've included several pictures and a video to hopefully help anyone like me, who got this hoping it would work but not having a 100% clear understanding of *how* it works. We installed this instead of the doorplate, but it's also possible to install it higher. The maximum opening can be customized easily by loosening the screws on the bend that "catches" the door and making it wider. The latch is all metal, but is flexible enough to easily release the door to fully open or push it to the side to fully close the door. While there are some minor downsides (having to push the latch out of the way to open or fully close the door, and having the latch just stick out if the door is fully closed), they pale in comparison to how well it works. Our family has 4 animals; two cats, one of whom is 13 years and arthiritic, and two dogs. Our second dog is a 20lb leggy mutt rescued from the streets of Mexico who is the unfortunate (for us) combination of extremely agile, extremely clever, and extremely food motivated for his own dubious definitions of 'food', which include the contents of the litter box. Essentially, anywhere the cats can go, this dog can jump to or squeeze through. (I will spare you the related saga of trying to figure out how to feed the cats without feeding him, which ended with us shelling out almost $1K for ridiculously fancy smart feeders). This latch keeps the door ajar so the cats always have access to the litter box, but the door can still be fully opened and fully closed so we still have easy access to the bathroom. I do think he could probably squeeze through if he really really wanted to, but the clatter of the door against the latch is enough of an incentive for him not to, and we could also fine tune the exact width of the opening if needed. Since we installed this, we have gone from sifting an average of maybe 1 or 2 cat poops per day to at least 3-4. Before this dog and buying this product, I never anticipated I would exclaim with genuine joy and excitment, "There's so much cat poop in the litter box!", but there are lots of things we can't predict in life. Anyway, the latch works great and I would highly recommend.

This device is amazing! Works perfectly. Easy to install and very user friendly. I have tried other similar types of products that weren’t up to the challenge. I have a 20 pound Maine coon cat and a rescued semi-feral cat that is only 9 pounds. My Maine coon is a gobbler and my rescue is a grazer so I needed something to be able to keep the little one’s food available but secured, and it has done the job! My big one has not been able to get inside the spare room to steal the dry food whatsoever! Finally something strong enough to work.

I got this because of the solid metal construction. I previously had a plastic one that we accidentally broke. The quality of this one is much nicer - however, I’m not sure how I’m supposed to open the door it is attached to without bending it every time. I have to open the door to clean the litter box, etc and I feel that over time it will bend and break. Maybe I’m just not understanding how to use the item? But, there were no real instructions with it, and this seems to be a design flaw.
