Description

This classic metal spring toy walks downstairs, alone or in pairs, and makes a slink-ity sound. First invented by mechanical engineer Richard James in 1943 during an experiment with tension coils. James accidentally dropped a spring on the floor and watched as it began to “walk.” Two years later, he introduced his walking spring toy in Gimbels Department Store, and the Slinky immediately sold out. Since its debut, over 300 million Slinkys have been sold worldwide. In 2000, this classic toy was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame. Made 75 years ago, Slinky continues to be a favorite toy of children and adults all over the world. Slinky is fun for a girl or a boy ages 5 and up. Everyone loves a Slinky!

My kids love it! The slinky's size was slightly smaller than what I expected, but it fits my 7 & 10 year olds' hands perfectly. They've had loads of fun. So far, my kids have dropped it a few times down the stairs & it was pretty durable. lol Just wish it came in more colors than silver, but I don't mind too much. The Original Slinky is just as fun now as it was when we were kids. My toddler doesn’t understand stairs yet, but he loves the metallic sound and bounce. It’s a nostalgic, screen-free toy that sparks creativity (and giggles). We keep one upstairs and one in the toy bin.

These are not the original that I remember. It would not go down the stairs like my old Al boy could do. Not long enough and a smaller slinky in general.
