James accidentally dropped a spring on the floor and watched as it began to “walk.” Two years later, he introduced his walking spring toy in Gimbels Department Store, and the Slinky immediately sold out. Since its debut, over 300 million Slinkys have been sold worldwide. In 2000, this classic toy was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame. My kids love it! The slinky's size was slightly smaller than what I expected, but it fits my 7 & 10 year olds' hands perfectly. They've had loads of fun. So far, my kids have dropped it a few times down the stairs & it was pretty durable. lol Just wish it came in more colors than silver, but I don't mind too much. Following someone's suggestion, I bought these to put on a shepherd hook to keep the squirrels away. Well I had it slide down from the hook (connected 2 with zip ties), and here came a squirrel - no effect. BUT, when I slid the entirety back together and put it in one mass at the hook going up (again zip tied in place), there have not been any squirrels try it since! I don't know what they think it is, but they moved on to somewhere else, so GREAT for this!! ... show more

Slinky has gone downhill. Maybe it’s just me, but I loved playing with a slinky. They were perfectly symmetric and smooth, fun to watch the hypnotizing coils and letting them walk down the stairs, the slight metallic whooshing sound. The original fidget toy. Every slinky in this pack was not smooth. The metal coils are uneven, some sticking out more to the right and some to the left where they should be all lined up. I used to be able to gently untangle slinkies and keep playing with them. These bend with the slightest attempt at untangling. I would have given 5 stars because it’s a classic but settled on 3 stars because the quality is crap. ... show more
