I've tried multiple cat grass growing options on Amazon and elsewhere. To my surprise, this one was hands down the best. It didn't encourage fruit flies like the hydroponic options (which were an insect nightmare and the cat didn't like the grass from it), had enough weight to hold it down as the cat enjoyed the grass, and seeds in it sprouted and thrived even better than the pot with a drainage hole (which this one doesn't have). So, this one is a winner. Just buy yourself some potting soil and quality seeds for when you want to start a new batch and you're golden. Highly recommended. ... show more

My cats and I love this! It's quick and easy to set up, and we have some nice grass for munching within a few days. I have two that we alternate growing new batches of grass in, so there's always a little on hand for snacking with two cats. The cups are sturdy and we have not had any tip over or spill. I usually keep one close to some plants that I don't want chewed on, and the grass works great to keep them away from those other plants. I noticed when I would walk my cat outside she always ate a ton of grass. So I decided to try this. Every morning she heads straight for this cute little cup of grass before she even eats her food. I think it helps with her digestion and compliments her raw diet. Also she has stopped trying to eat my indoor plants, which is a big plus. Cute container. I originally bought this hoping it might distract one of my cats from eating my houseplants. I was surprised that not only he, but my other (long-haired) cat LOVED this. The long haired one ate most of the first batch of grass in one sitting. I was worried he might throw up, but he didn't. I then read that the grass mixture was designed not to induce vomiting, and may even be good for hairballs. The cats liked it so much that I bought a second mug and several refills, so that I can grow the grass for them every few days. It's fun for them, a good source of natural vitamins, and may even be helping the long-haired one with hairballs. The mugs are also super cute. I find the seeds very easy to grow - I just plant them per the instructions, and do not bother to use the plastic covering. Even without it, the shoots still appear in about 2 days. I have not had any problems with mold, as some other reviewers have described - but I also am careful not to overwater. Besides the initial watering when planting the seeds, I water the grass maybe once or twice more tops, and only with a couple tablespoons of water, as the mugs do not have drainage holes. The hardest part for me is finding some place to hide the mug while the grass is still growing, so that the cats will leave it alone until it reaches 4-5 inches.
