I bought the speaker to listen to podcasts and music in my room and it does the job tremendously well. The styling looks good with my decor and the speaker pairs quickly and easily with my phone and laptop. The volume can be controlled through the broadcasting device or with the volume wheel on the speaker itself. The package included a nice braided 3.5 mm aux cable to plug in devices that don't have bluetooth as well which is a nice touch. The audio is nice and loud and has a noticeably richer sound than from my phone or laptop speakers. Overall very satisfied with my purchase. One note: About 11 months after I purchased the speaker the AC adapter had some kind of issue and stopped working, the device would not power on. I contacted the company thinking to just buy a replacement adapter and they ended up shipping me an entirely new speaker within days, no questions asked and no charge. Wonderful customer service! I don't think this will be an issue for most but it's always nice to know that the company stands behind their products. ... show more

I bought it because a review of Echo Dot mentioned this one. My wife & I love this speaker, not only works with my Echo Dot, but also my computer, iPhone. Pros: 1. Loudness: It's loud enough to drown out every one in a decent sized room, I could still hear the music 10 meters away with 70% volume on speaker, 100% on my iPhone. 2. Mid & Highs: It has clear and crisp mid & high range, even at the 100% volume. But the highs would be a little muddy while playing some specific songs, which is nothing for most users. 3. Bass: Honestly, it's the most powerful and deepest bass that I've ever listened from a speaker under $100. 4. Outlook: It looks really nice with wood structure and leather wrap, retro look matches almost all decor. 5. Bluetooth & Aux input: Pair with my Echo Dot and iphone quickly and stably, it also comes with a nice braided aux cord which can be used with devices without bluetooth. Cons： 1. Plugged in：It has no battery, and need plugged in while using, I think it's designed for keeping in home and going with Echo & Echo Dot which is also need plugged in. 2. No microphone: Unlike some other bluetooth speakers, TEWELL Retrorock has no built-in microphone, so I cannot use it as speakerphone, but it's ok for me. I recommend to the guys who need a stationary speaker for Echo, cellphone, computer and so on, it's great as a gift. ... show more

It's "good", but not "great". I'm giving this speaker 4 stars, because while it IS very nice and appears to be of good quality, it's NOT $100.00 worth of great. The value for money just isn't there for me. The sound quality is "good", not what I'd call "high fidelity" though. It sounds comparable to my Altec Lansing portable Bluetooth speaker that I use at the office. The design and controls on top of the speaker are really nice though, there's an actual volume adjust knob and a dedicated on/off toggle switch. Very nice features and nice touches that earn high marks with me. What REALLY sold me on this speaker was that it's for home use and can be plugged into a wall outlet. I wanted something that would be nice to flip on in the evenings, put on some music, or listen to a podcast while in the recliner. This is perfect for that. Again, the cost is a little steep for what it is and what it does, I'd feel more comfortable in the $50-$60 price range - but I'm still keeping it because I like it. ... show more

This thing is just perfect for what I want. I had a few requirements: 1) MUST have a physical knob for volume control. 2) MUST have physical buttons for play/pause, next, and prev. 3) Must look sweet. :) 4) Sound good. I didn't HAVE to have Bluetooth, but it's nice not having the extra cord, and it enables the control buttons, so yay. Kind of amazing to me how few items fit these simple criteria, especially the first two. Seems like designers are forgetting that there is more to life than touch/tap. I've had this for a couple weeks now, and I use it during the day while coding. Sound is more than adequate. It looks great. It pairs easily with my PC, and it controls Spotify on my desktop through Windows 10. So I'm all set! Looks great, feels great. And all for a super reasonable price. There are some really nice but pricey and over-featured options available. I really don't need a color screen, much less a touch screen. I don't need multi-room, etc. Just a great desktop Bluetooth speaker with physical controls. ... show more
