Picked up this thermal camera to help fix insulation issues before the winter really gets here, and this is perfect for the job. Right out of the box it can pick up and display temp readings on several objects in the same screen. The different visual modes are great and you can use the thermal imaging mode and laser to hone in on standout objects and to help figure out differences in items or areas. The displays are simple to understand, and the colors help a lot to narrow your focus. The other thing it does really well is just to take pictures for review. Pull the trigger and it fires off, and you can download everything direct to your computer by plugging the camera into it. A really nice tool for helping keep the bills down this winter.

This thermal camera has been great for my thermal imaging tasks. Its dual light fusion feature which combines thermal and visible light provides clear and detailed images making it easier to identify temperature variations. The LCD screen is bright and easy to read displaying heat signatures with good clarity. The straightforward controls for adjusting settings on the fly has worked great.

Prior to ordering this thermal imaging camera I had relied on a point by point temperature measuring device, e.g. point at a single source and read the value. This device quite literally offers an image on the environment with several options for visualizing the thermal profile. Switching between visualizations can be done through the menu or you can use the navigation buttons to fast switch both color schemes and other visual features such as PiP and outline. I particularly like that you can overlay and outline of the visual image along with the temperature image for better reference. That you can snap images and record video is incredibly useful for later analysis. USB for both charging and transferring the data is very convenient. This is the the higher resolution version currently offered and although this was okay for close-up HVAC purposes, it gives little detail from a distance. I initially used without topping up the battery and it seemed to run down quickly from almost full to almost empty. However, after charging overnight, the battery seemed to hold up much better. The unit itself feels solid and decently constructed. The storage case is a nice touch with fully molded interior holding the unit in place.

I thought this could be a useful item for various projects, but I've had problems with it which may just be my unit. I CANNOT get this item to turn off after use. I have to physically hold the off button for at least three minutes to get it to shut down, which is an encumbrance. It lacks an option for external memory, so you have to install another app to access images from the device, which is also a dicey proposition these days. While it DOES work, for me, these two problems just make it more trouble than it is worth.
