I want to start by saying that this is the first time that a genetics company has made me consider getting tested. My daughter and I were diagnosed with Chronic conditions before we started puberty. While our ancestry is important, reducing the need to try medications is of greater importance. This test is easy to take and ship. If you read the instructions and infographics, you will be fine. Currently, the turnaround time is extended due to the number of samples received. I have contacted them several times, and I have received timely responses. With our illnesses, our doctors were ecstatic when I told them we would take this test. This has helped them with referrals and the medications we are prescribed. I would and have recommended this to our family and friends. When looking at the cost, consider the cost savings in co-payments for Dr. Appts and medications that don't work. This is an investment in our lives, and I don't regret it.

I purchased this kit from their website, and then life got really crazy and we didn’t get the samples done before the shipping label expired. Customer service was really helpful and set up a new label for us for free. Our samples arrived at the same time but ended up in different batches, so we got results for one test a week before the other one. Customer service was fast to reply and explain the situation when we feared the second sample had been lost. This kit includes a couple of tests that one of my specialists had already run, and the results matched, which boosted my confidence that these results are real and not a scam. There weren’t many surprises, but I already had a strong understanding of family medical history and extensive medical testing for myself. What was surprising was the ancestry part, because there are a lot of gaps of lost history in my mother’s lineage. For women, you need to understand that most of these kits can only tell you about the ancestry of your maternal line because women lack a Y/chromosome. You also need to know that the haplogroup letters given to our ancestry test (called mtDNA, aka mitochondrial DNA) have different meanings than the letters used to describe male (Y-DNA) haplogroups. So if you’re trying to research these results be sure the sources you’re reading are describing mtDNA haplogroups. The best way to get ancestry results is to get a male sibling or your father to also take a test so you can see both lineages. The website is easy to use. I do wish the PDF reports you can print were better (like listing actual percentages and not just high, low, or medium propensities/risks. I also wish the “medium” level answers were more specific on the list view instead of only when looking at that specific results page/interpretation page. For example, my risk of a disease is listed as “medium” on the list view but when I click to load more information about that result I am taken to another page that defines my risk as “medium with a tendency towards high risk, and then a percentage of my risk which is at the highest level possible for the very wide band labeled medium. Since so many of my results well in “medium” with a strong tendency to either low or high extremes, I’d have to take a screenshot of almost every individual explanation page and I’d end up with a document well over 50 pages longer than the list view PDF it offers me to print. Your experience may be easier if you’re lucky to have good family medical history/good genes… I don’t. It’s still a good service, and when I bought the kits the price for the amount of data was far superior to the competition. So I’m very pleased overall.

This is the 4th try on getting my order right. After trying since February 11th, received only one test kit again today which was once again late. Will not reorder. How hard can this possibly be?

The product registration is less than intuitive and took some time to figure out. The results were delivered on a timely basis. The ancestry formation is very basic and l would not recommend this product for that. It would be nice if the vendor would state up front it is going to cost an extra $100 after you get your initial results to get an individualized nutrition evaluation.

I had to put in contact with the company, and they told me they cannot process my sample because the product was bought here with an unauthorized seller, Tellmegen already initiated legal actions against this seller. I feel cheated and although Amazon refunded my money, I am very dissatisfied with the product.
