  • Great, well-built inversion table - but the lumbar bridge should've been included
I'm 56 and am physically active. Surfing, running, weights, heavy bag are my weekly physical routines. I also have a bad L4 that has given me occasional problems with my right leg/knee (sciatica) since I was in my mid 30s. I bought the Teeter for an aching throbbing dull pain in my right buttock that developed from our weekly 8 mile hill run. About 3 weeks into this butt pain, I deciding to try inversion therapy since my running partner has an older Teeter. I've had my Teeter for 2.5 weeks now and I use it for at least 10-12 minutes a day. It has helped my mid-back and neck the most, especially the tightness that occurs between my shoulder blades and base of the neck. The butt pain has not gone away, but the pain has diminished where I am able to sit with less discomfort. To be honest, it may be that after 5 weeks the injury may be healing on its own, but I think inversion therapy could be a factor in speeding up the healing process. I've also googled this symptom for this pain and it could be muscle-related (piriformis syndrome). Pros: I rated it 5 stars because they were able to provide free shipping to Hawaii on a rather heavy 70lb item. It also folds up nicely where I can store it standing up behind my bedroom door. The parts move smoothly and it was fairly easy to assemble. This is definitely a well-designed quality product at a reasonable price. Cons: I think they should've included the lumbar bridge as part of the unit. I've been using the lumbar bridge for 2 days now, and it definitely provides a better stretch. Also, the printed instruction sheet is very small and hard to read. You can get around this by using the DVD that comes with the Teeter. It gives you step by step assembly instructions that's easy to follow. Overall a great product. Thanks for sharing your invention, Roger Teeter. I hope to be jumping with enthusiasm when I'm over 73. ... show more

  • A well made product that works as advertised
I thought I had already reviewed this product, but apparently not. Here goes: My son has a problem with occasional sciatica in his leg, and after a lot of research, decided to purchase this product to see if it really produced the results claimed in the promotional materials. He bought it from Amazon, and it arrived promptly in a few days. I have reoccurring lower back pain, as well as a stiff neck from arthritis, and was willing to give this device a try also. He has been using the Teeter daily for a week now, and does feel better after each session. He has gained flexibility and feels that he walks more upright, and his sciatica pain has receded. I have tried the device a few times, but not enough to report progress, but I do feel flexible and relaxed after each session. The Hang Ups is not difficult to assemble, but not that easy either. The box has to be unpacked, the parts then spread out over an open space, and the parts then identified from the instruction sheet. The included DVD wouldn't play in our MacBook Pro...it kept ejecting. The assembly instructions are accurate, but do require close attention and some trial and error. It's better to have two people, one for holding the parts and the other for using the tools. You might want to use your own tools, those included are dinky. The wrenches are thin and hard to hold in place, and the screwdriver is too short to get the required torque. You should allow an hour for assembly, even with two people. In terms of using the device, I would highly recommend that you have a family member or friend available while you become familiar using the Hang Ups. First you have to set your balance point. If you have a normal build like my son, the pin will be inserted an inch or so longer than your height. But if you are older, with a more mature, pear shaped build (like me), you will be top heavy, and will have to set the pin many inches greater than your height. If not, you will "Teeter" immediately, and find yourself upside down. You may want to have your spotter help you back to the upright position. Be sure to connect the strap that restrains movement from horizontal...you may wish to start with 30 degrees and then increase. You feel secure using the Teeter Hang Ups.... it's well designed and constructed, and sits solidly on the floor without wobbling. An excellent product, not a piece of junk you are likely to hide away. Update: I've used the device a few times now, and have a comment. If you are not very flexible and can't touch your toes (like me), you may find it difficult to reach down and release the foot clamp. It requires using both hands at the same time...one to pull the pin and the other to open the clamp. Make sure you have a buddy around the first few times to see that you can do the foot release by yourself. ... show more
