My starter died as i was putting my snowblower away for the season. The replacement that just failed had been used for 10 years and was the same as this one so bought another one . Installed easily and started the blower fine. I can only hope it will last as long but time will tell. Live in southern New England so dosen't get that much use. As someone else noted, the extension cord supplied does not fit into the receptical of the starter. The cord end is too large. I can use the existing cord I had but if you need to use the cord that comes with it you will have to modify it or buy another cord. ... show more

So far (used 3 times) it's working well on an older Yard Machine Gold 26-inch snowthrower with a Techumseh 8.5 HP Snow King engine. Engages nicely and starts on the 1st try (I keep the snowthrower warm in a cellar which helps). Installed without too much trouble (comes with bolts). Bolt 'pins' lined up with bolt holes on engine block. Push starter button's 2 bolts also lined up and were the right length. Saves my back and having to fix the pull-start rope (yet again). ... show more

I liked that the starter came with all of the mounting hardware. Only down side was that the end on the extension cord supplied does not fit into the plug on the new starter. The plug end is too large.

Do I replace my snowblower or the starter. Well with the turn of a few screws and a few bolts my old snowblower was as good as new. Yes, who doesn’t want a new machine, but if you’re a working person this is an easier and much cheaper option. It’s really not difficult to replace. If you can open and close a jar then you can easily do this ... show more

    • Wired shorted inside switch housing
Update: after testing further I found that the hot wire that goes to the switch was pinched and pierced by the screw that attaches it to the snow blower cover. I was able to repair and it is working fine now. Spent several hours testing and repairing to get this working properly. The positive and negative is backwards on this unit. Tried and tripped breaker as soon as I plugged it in. Plugged into a known outlet that has worked for years on all kinds of equipment. Tried to communicate directly could not find a way through Amazons system. ... show more
