My starter died as i was putting my snowblower away for the season. The replacement that just failed had been used for 10 years and was the same as this one so bought another one . Installed easily and started the blower fine. I can only hope it will last as long but time will tell. Live in southern New England so dosen't get that much use. As someone else noted, the extension cord supplied does not fit into the receptical of the starter. The cord end is too large. I can use the existing cord I had but if you need to use the cord that comes with it you will have to modify it or buy another cord. ... show more

Worked great on an older Airens that had a 12v starter that we never used because the battery was always dead when we wanted to use it…. Easy replacement and started a large Briggs motor right up.

The starter arrived one day earlier that promised. GREAT. The starter gear looks die cast NOT steel cut as the original. I spun the starter to be sure it worked before I installed it. The clips slid onto the studs and the bolt holes aligned correctly. The two screws that holds the starter switch aligned correctly also. I did start the snow blower with this new starter to make sure it performed as stated. Again GREAT. I hope to get another 10 years from the blower. I hope the warrantee is supported and that the extended is will be worth it. ... show more

The unit worked perfectly. The old starter had broken teeth and was not starting my snowblower. Bought this right before our first real snow storm of the year and it fires right up now. I had to take off the gas tank to get to the starter location on my snowblower, but everything was in an accessible location for quick installation. I believe it took less than 30 minutes total.     • Faulty starter for snowblower
I ordered this Tecumseh starter on December 13. I did not receive it until 21 December. I put the starter on the snowblower and tried it that day I just started it, but I did not use it. We didn’t have any snow. I used it on December 31 to clear the snow. Then we had snow again on February 7. And after shutting off and restarting the second time the starter failed. I did not realize the return date had passed. Basically I only used it once seems to be the starter was faulty. When I tried to start at the second time, the starter made a noise, but it would not engage. What can I do about this problem with the product? Please contact me and let me know as soon as possible so that I can look other places for one that might work. ... show more

    • Perfect replacement for snowblower
This starter is the exact part replacement match for a craftsman snowblower that requires this motor (I don't have the exact model number handy). After destroying the original starter, I needed a replacement to start a cold engine in the winter, as using the ripcord really sucks. So we got this and it works as advertised! Just a word of advice; if your engine doesn't start, don't hold the starter button down for more than 5-8 seconds. Use it intermittently and let it cool down and you won't destroy it.
