I was totally shocked at how well this heated & the level of control it had. Good weight that keeps it from moving around. Love the handles to move it around & it stored easily since it's not huge. I make my own candles for personal use & have had a few spill near misses on my new stove so I decided it was time to get one of these standalone burners. And it worked perfectly for melting/heating the candle wax, no problems with not getting hot enough or getting overly hot. This is a great little set-up for my cabin. I use it mostly for heating up water for doing dishes and some cooking. The bigger burner is a work horse - boils a gallon of water pretty fast for a little unit. I don't use the smaller burner much. I bought a couple large silicone heat absorber pads to put under the unit, but they've never really gotten hot. Still not a bad idea to do this just as a precaution. I do want to comment on the continuing heat after turning the unit off. Per the product description: "It takes about 20 minutes for the burner to cool completely, which helps keep the food warm for a long time." My experience: once water got to near boiling state, I would turn off the burner, but the water continued to boil - there's no immediate slowdown like a regular stove burner. I've now made it a habit to unplug the unit to get the heat source to stop sooner than later. Other than the continuing heat after shut-off, (which some people might be okay with...) it does a good job. ... show more

Very light weight, works well. One small plate and one large plate. Compared to other hotplates I have used and owned, this one is the best. It takes a moment to warm up compared to one or two I have owned but it gets very hot and remains hot a long while after turning it off so you're still able to cook on residual heat for some time. The handles remain cool and the wire is pretty long compared to other models. We'll see how long it lasts. I am mean and brutal to my hotplates. ... show more

The only disappointing thing is that the instructions does not explain anything about actual pan temp. This is not a typical "hotplate". The actual place you put your pan is upon a cast iron plate that is mounted atop a heating element below. The temp knob has "MIN", "MAX" and a few dots between them. MAX will ignite the air around it and MIN won't cook eggs... It's taking me some time to find the right setting so that I don't scorch the pan or the food in it. Once the top plate gets hot, it stays HOT for a LONG time. Do not leave it plugged in unattended. I'm slowly acclimating to it and don't regret getting it. And it is pretty nice for cooking just if you are in a colder environment it will take a little long but I'm happy with it if you are looking for less than 30 seconds heat up time this doesn't do that I chose it due to the fact it doesn't burn up anyone's electricity bill when I use it (im constantly traveling) ... show more

I recently purchased the Techwood 1800W Portable Electric Stove with high hopes for a convenient and efficient cooking solution, but unfortunately, my experience has been less than satisfactory. One of the major drawbacks is the inconsistent heating performance. Despite the 1800W power rating, the burners seem to struggle to reach and maintain the desired temperature. Cooking times are prolonged, and achieving even heat distribution across cookware has proven to be a challenge. This inconsistency has significantly impacted the quality of my cooking, leading to frustration and disappointment. The build quality of the electric stove also leaves much to be desired. The materials used feel flimsy, and the overall construction lacks durability.
