This is my initial review after purchasing the projector a few days ago. My first impression was excellent. The projector looks compact, premium, and well-designed. The picture quality is very good, but what impressed me the most was the audio quality. The built-in speakers provide an experience comparable to a dedicated 5.1 home theater system. The autofocus works quickly and accurately, making setup effortless. The included carrying case is a nice addition and helps keep the projector protected during storage and travel. It's very easy to use, and overall, I believe it offers great value for the money.

This is by far the best budget projector available on the market today. I bought it to use in the backyard for sporting events but it has now become my favorite new go to for videos and movies. I found it to be super user friendly and the Google system works flawlessly. The picture quality is amazing and rivals a regular TV under the right lighting conditions. Its very portable and comes in a really useful carrying case. I have no complaints on this TCL projector so far. It was a steal for just under 300 bucks and is worth every penny. Highly recommend this if your looking to up your entertainment set up. Everyone who has seen it is impressed and wants to know more about it. I have been watching the World Cup on it and its amazing. It is truly a plug and play system. The sound from unit is great and there isnt really any need for a external speaker. I recently paired my Hi res soundcore X600 with it and it is quite an experience. Great product. 5 🌟

I absolutely love this projector. The picture qualities is great all the automatic corrections work amazing it is super easy to use and the brightness is insane. Built-in sound system also sounds outstanding. I would definitely recommend for the price.

TCL produced a powerhouse of a projector in this A1s model. I have bought many ultra-short-throw, short-throw and long-throw premium and budget projectors in recent years from the likes of Valerion, Hisense, JMGO, XGIMI, Viewsonic, Aurzen, Magcubic and Wanbo. This is the best budget model I've seen. The A1s projects an image that is bright and colorful, especially for an LCD projector, often featuring drab displays, and focus is sharp throughout. Usually, with budget models, focus and brightness are very weak on the edges, making use of these kinds of projectors for gaming a challenge. Inclusion of the Google TV operating system means you'll have access to just about all streaming apps, including Netflix. Projectors costing $3,000 just two to three years ago often ran only Android TV, with Netflix out of the equation. I really want to give this projector five stars, but TCL made two mistakes with this model. First, the HDMI port is 1.4 and not 2.1, meaning you can't get 4K 60 HZ. You get only 30 HZ. This is especially an issue with gaming. Incredibly, TCL's C1 model, the cheapest in its lineup, has a 2.1 HDMI port. Why did TCL use an inferior HDMI input for a higher-end projector whereas its most-budget-friendly model got a superior HDMI input? Additionally, the C1 model comes with a gimbal, making it easy to point the projector at a ceiling. This A1s model doesn't feature this game-changing feature. You can still project onto a ceiling, but you'll need to use either a vented desktop laptop stand or desktop projector gimbal, likely with a 5- or 10-pound plate weight. So much trouble while hoping your cat doesn't bump into it and sending it tumbling to the floor. Had TCL included a 2.1 HDMI port and gimbal, this A1s projector would easily get five stars. If these issues don't affect your decision making, get ready to enjoy a spectacular image and top-notch sound at a superb price. I paid just $289 during a Christmas sale. Outstanding value! Bring on the 4K, short-throw and ultra-short-throw projector lineup, TCL!

Not happy with the brightness and color reproduction. I tested a 300 lumens projector before getting this one, and it’s pretty much the same brightness. Nowhere near the double the brightness the advertised 600 lumens suggest. Also, it has a weird color cast. Things are yellowish. I tried changing color settings but cannot get rid of the yellow cast.

excellent projector -- took advantage of a good price before the holidays. like any projector it works best in darker rooms. That being said, the lumens it produces is perfect for a white wall. the quality is kind of shocking to be honest. I use it to show multiple games during big sports weekends. Its color quality is pretty amazing for a budget projector. Keep in mind, projectors can go for 1000s of dollars, given its price point, i recommend. Having google tv built in is key also, also wireless connectivity, and access to all the normal streaming apps. Streamed with no issues. The case is very cool, the handle, only negative, is it's not a battery powered projector, but at the power it outputs that is relatively expected. Sound quality is pretty amazing as well --

I bought two TCL projectors: this A1S model AND the C1 model. I chose the A1S for its advertised increased brightness level ("600 lumens") for use in our family room, and the lower-priced C1 ("230 lumens") for my bedroom. It turns out that I can't tell the difference in the real world brightness of the two models, and in fact the C1 model has an improved version of its operating system with more sound options (such as equalization) missing on the A1S, plus the C1 has a more useful built-in stand that allows me to project on the ceiling for watching movies (or starscapes) in bed. I now regret spending the extra money on the A1S. I should have bought two of the C1 model. Otherwise, the build quality is excellent, and the software is adequate (it's hard to find some of the settings options buried in the settings menu. It would be great if I could choose which settings to move to the top level so I don't have to fish for them. I'll leave a footnote about brightness... Neither the A1S or C1 are bright enough to watch with the overhead room lights turned on. Both require a darkened room, with no more than a small desk lamp turned on.

The projector is great. The picture is nice and it automatically adjust and focus. The reason I’m giving one star is because the customer service sucks and you cannot get a replacement cord. The cord broke and I tried 4 or 5 different replacement cords because of course there isn’t a replacement cord form the company. I did reach out to the company directly to get a cord. They asked me to send them pictures and they would get back to me. It’s been 4 months and no word. I have a useless projector sitting in my closet.
