  • Workhouse Gaming TV
Size: 55-Inch
The Google TV delivers a solid overall experience once you get past its slow initial responsiveness. Navigating the menus or launching apps like Netflix can feel laggy at first, but once the app is loaded, playback is smooth and stable. The TCL AIPQ Pro Processor does an excellent job optimizing color and contrast for a rich 4K HDR picture. The 4K UltraHD resolution makes every scene look crisp and lifelike, especially when streaming high-bitrate content. QLED Quantum Dot Technology truly shines here, producing vibrant hues and deep saturation that cover nearly the entire DCI-P3 color space. HDR PRO+ with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG ensures impressive contrast and fine-tuned detail across various streaming formats. The 120Hz panel refresh rate makes fast-moving scenes feel fluid, whether you’re watching an action movie or gaming. Combined with Motion Rate 480 and MEMC frame insertion, motion blur is practically nonexistent. When paired with an Xbox, Switch 2, or PS5, the framerate performance is consistently smooth. Input lag feels minimal, and the TV’s Game Mode helps maintain responsive controls. Even during graphically demanding sequences, there’s little to no noticeable stutter. It’s not quite OLED-tier in response, but it’s impressive for a QLED panel. The colors stay punchy, and HDR gaming feels immersive thanks to the wide color gamut. Dolby Atmos audio also elevates the experience with spacious, directional sound. I have the TV mounted on a mobile stand with a 2.1 soundbar connected through the eARC HDMI port. The eARC functionality works flawlessly, passing through high-quality audio without sync issues. Whether it’s a Dolby Atmos movie or a standard stereo source, the TV handles transitions automatically. One caveat: the soundbar setup partially interferes with some HDMI-CEC on/off commands. Occasionally, the TV won’t power down in sync with the soundbar through the remote. However, that’s easily fixed by using voice control through Siri or Google Assistant. With a quick voice command, I can turn the TV on or off and even switch inputs hands-free. HomeKit and Google Home integration are surprisingly seamless. Saying “Hey Siri, turn off the TV” or “Hey Google, switch to HDMI 2” works instantly. This effectively bridges the CEC gap caused by the eARC chain. It’s also convenient for family members who prefer voice control over remotes. The built-in Chromecast and Apple AirPlay 2 support make sharing content from phones effortless. Photos, YouTube videos, and music all cast smoothly with minimal delay. While the Google TV interface itself could use more speed and polish, its features are extensive once loaded. Having all favorite streaming apps, live channels, and personalized recommendations in one dashboard is convenient. The voice remote is responsive, but hands-free voice control feels more natural in daily use. The Wi-Fi 5 connection provides stable streaming even on 4K HDR content. The panel’s brightness levels are strong enough for daytime viewing without noticeable glare. Blacks aren’t as inky as OLED, but local dimming helps preserve depth in darker scenes. Overall, once you adjust to the slightly sluggish menu navigation, the viewing and audio performance shine. The combination of QLED color, HDR formats, and 120Hz smoothness makes it versatile for both movies and gaming. The build quality feels sturdy, and the screen looks great mounted on a rolling stand setup. The eARC connection keeps the audio chain clean and reliable. Having both Google and Apple ecosystems working together on one screen is a big plus. In short, the Google TV is slow to start but excellent once it gets going—smart, vivid, and surprisingly flexible for the price. ... show more

  • Preliminary Review
Size: 65-Inch
Works well, right out of the box. You may find color saturation and contrast need minor adjustment. The specs make this seem like a gaming tv, but only if you play solo. There is no split screen for 2 or 4 players head-to-head. 😢 Big upgrade from my 9 yr old Vizio 40". The Vizio soundbar works with the optical audio output from the TCL. One man setup possible, even for this 74 yr old man.😅 That's all for now. ... show more

  • Great image quality, smart features are snappy and quick
Size: 55-Inch
It was time to upgrade my old 42" 720p set in the bedroom. I had been looking at TV's for a while, and this is the perfect size for the space. I recently purchased a TCL QM6K, so I have some very recent experience with a TCL Google TV powered 2025 model. The first thing that I noticed is that the Google smart TV functions are snappier and quicker on the T7 model, compared to the more budget friendly QM6K model. Navigating through icons and even searching is just faster. The 2nd thing I noticed is the covering on the screen is glossier on the T7 model. This is not an issue for the location in the bedroom, but would be an issue for where my QM6K model is. The back of the TV is curved, and the VESA mounts are not as straightforward as I would have hoped. The bottom mounts are recessed slightly, so I needed to use an offset for these, and ensure my screw didn't bottom out, but the tops are even worse as they are lower in height and on a curve. The 55 inch model does come with spacers for these top holes, but nothing for the bottom holes. Having mounted more than enough TV's in my time, I had the spare parts lying around to fix it. Overall, it's a great TV, great picture, snappy response on the smart TV features. If you want a step up on picture quality from an entry level model, this is a good choice, just beware of mounting it properly if you decide to go that route. ... show more
