I have a 65" LG OLED tv that I thought was the king of picture clarity. It cost over three times the price of this set. Well guess what, this set may even beat it; it sure seems that way. I have the two TV's I am comparing in separate rooms so I cannot really get too specific on any minute points. Just to bring the message home though compare this same TCL 55 Inch to the same model in the 65" and it comes in at a price point that is the same as my LG OLED. So, we are dealing with a truly high-end performer. I have several people in my house using the TV so I was immediately drawn to the feature of having individual profiles that you can password protect for each individual up to six different people. Of course, Amazon Prime Videos are password protected anyhow so that is not a concern, but just the same I do not want someone messing with my preferences and settings. So, everyone sets up a separate profile and enjoys the same benefits. Set the picture to Vivid and get ready to get your socks blown off. Watching a basketball game, or baseball, or anything that is superbly lit is a total show off result, incredible enough for others to make a comment about it: it is that amazing. It is difficult to capture the incredible quality of this set with a 1080P camera and taking a picture of a picture, but believe me, you will be amazed. Amazon has some recommended wall mounts that are compatible with this set; just ask Rufus on this page. I bought one of the recommended ones and it works perfectly. I love that it is adjustable in about every conceivable way such as aiming it left to right, extending it away from the wall, as well as tilting it down to get the ideal viewing angle. You do not even need a digital source to bring out mind-blowing results on this set. A simple rabbit ear antenna is all that is needed. May I suggest the Amazon Basics Full Motion Articulating TV Wall Mount, with Swivel and Tilt, for 26" to 55" TVs and Flat Panels up to 80 Lbs, VESA Compatible, Single Stud, Black. The price point is amazing. I am using it now and it does a superb job. The other wonderful thing is that this TV has Amazon Alexa built right in, so no need to buy an extra dongle. The whole TV runs through Alexa and there is a microphone button right on the remote. This is a wonderful opportunity to get a set that performs well beyond its price point. It is not just me. Everyone has different wants, needs, and budgets. Audio and video gear is a hobby for me and I try to get the best gear that I can spring for. The last two televisions I have purchased were 4k OLED Sony units and I love them. The only reason I would be willing get a "cheap" TV if it was given to me. Well, that happened and I scored this set to review. Admittedly, I don't find anything overly special about this set. However, I also don't find anything that is off-putting either. At the current price of $449.99, it's only a fraction the cost of premium model. I think that speaks volumes about the value of this set. Initial setup was relatively easy. The feet do not sit perpendicular to the screen, and it took me a moment to wrap my brain around this while I was installing them. The process of setting up Wi-Fi and getting apps running was a little long-winded, but uneventful. The automatic OTA channel programming was quick. I wish I could find a menu option that would show signal strength. It would be beneficial to anyone who needs to aim an antenna. The input/output section is along the right edge of the set. There are four HDMI ports (one eARC), two USB ports (one is 3.0), one ethernet port, one Toslink port, and one antenna input. As a physical package, I don't really have anything to complain about. It's light enough that I can handle it by myself. The screen border area is trim, so the set size isn't unnecessarily large. I see there are ports on the back on the set for speakers. I'm guessing this was done to help enhance low-end sound quality. It sounds just fine to my ears. It won't beat a dedicated sound system, but you shouldn't hate integrated sound if that's all you have. Picture quality is also a no-complaint area for me. I thought it looked dandy even before I took the protective wrap off the screen. I feel a little blessed to have gotten this set to review. I wasn't expecting much and wound getting a very useable mid-tier quality set. I'll admit you probably won't have bragging rights if you bought one, but you also don't much to be disappointed with if you get it. I'll be curious to see how this set holds up over the long term. I am so happy with this 55” TCL smart 4K Fire TV! Amazon, thank you! The delivery was flawless, Amazon team unpacked it and set it up on its stand and made sure it was working properly and cleaned up all the packing materials and they were so nice. I’d never heard of this brand of tv but took a chance on ordering it and I’m so glad I did. The picture quality is absolutely superb! Sharp details, high def contrast. And the speaker! Oh my gosh, the speaker quality is exemplary, better than any other tv I’ve had in this room so I won’t need a sound bar with this tv like I do with the other tv’s in our home. The description “mini led” caught me off guard and I thought it must be a mini (tiny) tv, lol. Not so.! It’s a true 55” Fire TV. Mini led QLED actually means that there are MORE, thousands!, of much smaller (mini) LED lights behind the screen, unlike the older led screens that have a fraction of the the number, and much larger, led lights. I’m going to go tech there to explain the significance of these lights. Mini LED TVs use thousands of tiny backlight LEDs to provide superior brightness, deep contrast, and less "blooming" (light haloing) than traditional LED TVs and often with quantum dot technology (Neo QLED) for vibrant colors, and generally have a longer lifespan without burn-in risks. And I have to say that this tv provides brilliantly vivid colors, exceptional brightness and much clearer black screen contrast than our brand new 75” Toshiba fire tv does. It’s also reported to be a much better tv for gaming experience. This tv, with its state of the art tech is a must have for all you gamers, movie lovers and streaming fans.
