Very impressed so far. Set up was a breeze--just took my laptop into the room and used it to sign into my Roku account then activated the TV. Despite what I read, the audio is very good for built-in speakers and would easily suffice if you didn't want a soundbar/external audio source. Works seamlessly with a Bluray player. Amazon Prime plays flawlessly. The picture is excellent. Almost wish I'd bought the next size up, but I'm going to have to get used to this 55" before doing that. And the price can't be beat--I paid $249.99 but I see it's gone up slightly. I'd put this up against any $1,000 TV out there. EDIT: If you're planning on using bluetooth, forget it. Even though the "Compare With Similar Items" shows the TV has bluetooth, it does not. ... show more

The TV is beautiful, no soap opera effect, awesome 4k with deep blacks and colors that balance beautifully, and you get a $50 free Roku service without having wires and an accessory box, all for $240! This may well be the best purchase of 2024! It has all the ports you need, easy and intuitive to set up, easily connected to WiFi, and took about 10 min in total to get it arranged and ready for all my logins! Roku even prompts a few simple questions to pre-configure what apps you’ll want. Oh, and the speakers are great and also very well balanced between all the different audio elements with crisp spoken work and clear total sound, don’t even need a sound bar like most flatscreen TVs. 7-8 years ago I purchased a 65" flatscreen t.v. built by a major brand. This model began a "slow death" over the last year. I wanted to purchase a 55" inch model because of where I usually watch television and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I researched for quite a while and finally decided on this new Roku model. I have been using/watching for over a month now so I can't comment on longterm durability yet but regarding other features of the t.v., I am quite satisfied. It was very easy to set up both the t.v. itself and the picture. It didn't take very long to get the "picture" I was satisfied with. The picture is so much better than my older t.v. which did cost about 2X what this one did. The sound is actually good for the price regardless of what others have said. I listen to a number of classical music videos on You Tube and have been quite satisfied so far--which means that I will probably not purchase a sound bar for the t.v. Is it perfect, no but seems to be a great value for now. Will I ever go to a better t.v.--perhaps in the future but for now I am quite satisfied with this Roku version. ... show more

I’m using this Roku 55-inch mostly as a monitor for my MacBook, and it’s been awesome. I wanted a TV that could double as a monitor, and this totally fits the bill. It’s obviously great for watching TV and streaming movies, but hooked up to my MacBook it really shines. Text is clear, black levels are solid, and the refresh rate is smooth enough for gaming. Setup was stupid easy—out of the box, on Wi-Fi in seconds, and connected to my MacBook without a hitch. My kids already know the Roku interface, so it just works for them too. Honestly, I don’t know why anyone would spend crazy money on a tiny high-refresh monitor when you can get this much screen, at this quality, for this price. If you see one on sale (Prime Day, whatever), grab it. You won’t be disappointed. 10/10, million stars. ... show more

So far this TV has been phenomenal! Setup is super easy, and the picture looks great! So much better than my old 2008 1080p Sony TV, obviously. My one complaint would be the speakers. They aren’t great. Not terrible, but not great. But then again, it’s a $300 4K TV. Still an incredible value even if the speakers aren’t top notch. Will probably get a sound bar for it at some point, but it’s perfectly fine for now! Brightness is great, picture is great, the backlight isn’t too noticeable, and the colors look very nice. For a $300 4K TV… what more can you ask for? Also the roku software is perfect, as usual. Love Roku. ... show more

    • Sound is great! Read before buying a soundbar

To access the sound and picture options, you need to be watching something from an app. Out of the box, sound is terrible. Was about to buy a soundbar. Then I got a little pop up tooltip reminder to hit the * button during playback to access the sound and picture options (that arent on the roku systems menu for some reason) and cranked the bass up and the treble down and now it sounds perfect. Probably my only gripe about it the TCL/Roku interface, which is simple and perfect, even easier to use than an apple product imho. I’ve always hated conventional 80’s style consumer electronics with tooo maaany buttons and options, will always buy a roku tv over a conventional for that reason. Really is convenient to hit * during playback to make tweaks, just should also put it in the main system settings window with a little message telling about the * shortcut during playback. ... show more

The TV is great! We previously had a Roku stick on the old TV so this is a great upgrade. Picture quality is beautiful! Sound is fine for the usual streaming channels. We have a surround sound system for movies and music. The setup for the TV connection, channels, etc was seamless. But the physical setup was a challenge. They want you to lay the TV screen down on a flat surface but neglect to tell you the bottom needs to hang over the table to attach the legs. Also the screws provided are too thin compared to the hole size. Took quite a bit of time to attach the legs. After that it was smooth sailing! ... show more

TheTV is made very well, quality picture, great soind. But there are some issues with it. On commercials they beat you over the head with Roku advertising, showing the same commercials over, and over, and over again. To the point where you have to change the channel or mute the TV or walk away for a few minutes till they're back to programing again. If we had known this I would not have bought this TV we now wish we hadn't. The volume and mute button are in a bad spot, but when I pick up the remote I end up pressing one of the side buttons inadvertently, because that's where my hands grab it.
