The timer is sturdy and works as directed. Although buyers may want to know that you have to turn the knob completely counter clockwise and then back to the desired time in order for it to work. I bought this timer hoping my 4 year old grand daughter could use it to learn numbers while learning to "wait" by setting the timer herself. I can hear the bell over the TV in the living room, and it's not overly loud when I'm in the kitchen standing next to it. It should be easy to keep clean. I should get a second one for a backup. This timer is far better than the junk coming out of local stores, they last a few weeks. This one is obviously better quality. Every bit as good as kitchen timers used to be. Works as expected. I have had many timers and this one works better than any other. Only issue is the ring isn't very loud. I only use it when I need to be upstairs or other rooms and I need to be sure I hear the timer go off, so easy to carry with me.

Buy this timer, the best. After purchasing 2 different timers by 2 different companies from Amazon that had a low bell ringer, I was so disappointed. Finally I decided to spend a few more $$ and get the look a like of my 20 yr old timer that broke. Taylor Precision Timer has exactly what it says it has. ''A loud timer bell you can hear 2 rooms away through a close door, and I am 80 yrs old." Either my hearing in intact or this is a great timer. This timer you must Turn timer knob pass 50 mins. then back to amount of time. Maybe the other 2 timers I bought might have worked loud rings if I turned it pass the 50 mins.. but I was not aware of it, as my ''old 20 yr timer only had to pass the 15 mins mark then back."
