  • Cheap, does the job, good for a laptop; doesn't sit flat, ports are a bit shallow
Style: 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub
Lightweight, compact, and functional--those are three good words to describe this USB hub. The cable stores behind it, nicely and neatly, great for tossing in a backpack or briefcase. I like the flat ribbon-style cable; sometimes I think it could be a bit longer, but that's only because I need to use this on the side of my laptop where the main heatsink is and I don't like things like flash drives getting blasted by the hot air. There really isn't much for me to complain about, in terms of function. The ports on this hub are a bit shallow for my taste; not all of the USB connector fits in the socket. It works fine; it just looks weird. The hub also is designed to angle the ports up a bit when it's resting on a table, but plugging in anything bigger than a flash drive (like a cable of any sort) drags down the front and makes the back hover in space. It flattens the ribbon cable, though, instead of the slight twist it gets when nothing is connected to the hub, so really it's more of a design oddity than anything else. This hub's only limitation seems to be power, as expected from an unpowered USB hub. It did not work at all with an external 2.5" hard drive enclosure I used for my laptop's old disk drive, because the enclosure requires two full-powered ports to function. Keep in mind that everything connected through a USB hub (or daisy-chained setup) must draw a combined total of 500mA or less for all devices to work for sure. I have not had any trouble with data corruption or anything like that, so the hub's electronics appear sound. In case others have something similar happen to them: The first time I tried to use this hub, I plugged it in, plugged in my USB mouse, connected my USB HDD, and then Windows said the HDD was unformatted. I spent the rest of the afternoon playing tricks with USB drivers, Device Manager, and power to the laptop's mainboard to get USB working again; Windows kept saying that a USB device connected to the computer had malfunctioned and was unrecognized, connecting and disconnecting endlessly, and none of the four ports did anything more than supply power to whatever I plugged in. Shutting down the laptop, unplugging it, and removing the battery for a minute or so appeared to restore USB functionality again. Since, this hub has functioned flawlessly (within its limitations). ... show more

  • Came Used
Style: 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub
I am pretty sure the hub that I received is used. The gloss finish isn't as shiny as it supposed to be and it has scrape marking at its top and bottom. Using this hub to connect 2 UBS 3.0 and 1 USB 2.0 external HDD. The extra USB connects to another 4-port USB 2.0 hub. Even thought the external HDD are self-powered, the hub still needs the optional adaptor powering it. I am not sure at which scenario the hub does not need the optional adaptor. I may test it out and update this review once I found the scenario. I was able to run Time Machine backup on one external HDD while performing 35GB file copying from my MBP to the another external HDD without slowness. It was charing my phone at the same time. The hub is being hidden at the back of my LCD to hide the clutter. I was hoping some company would design a hub with all connection facing one side to enable better cable management. Currently the power and input UBS is aiming inward; there isn't much concern for the USB cable as it will head to the front to my MBP, but the power cable needs to make a 180 degree bend backward to where my power strip is. The hub is smaller then I thought; it is smaller then an iPhone 4. It is light too... Too light to prevent itself from being pulled down by the weight of USB cables connected to it. I would recommend the use of blue tack to hold it down. If you aren't too concern of the item being used, this is a great USB 3.0 hub. ... show more

  • Great product
Style: 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub
First, let me state that I have a powered USB Hub which I use primarily. I use this non-powered hub when I'm on-the-go. This hun gives you a four for one USB slots. The built quality is pretty decent. The adapter cable is about 3 1/2 inches (guesstimating). The spacing of the slots is tricky... In the sense that if your using USB cables to connect devices such as printers, interfaces, etc your going to be fine connecting four devices. For some USB drives, you may not be able to fit four USB drives because of the width of each drive (sizes of thumb drives differs from manufacturer). I use this for music production, to connect midi devices and I haven't had latency issues. Recording midi you're going to quantize anyway therefore it shouldn't matter. If you're recording audio through USB then the issue is you shouldn't be doing that if you're recording professionally but that's another discussion. Transfer speeds, for my purposes I really don't care for the numbers, it works fine for me I hope this helps. ... show more

  • Great USB hub, never had an issue, very convenient
Style: 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub
My wife and I both work from home and have offices set up with both normal sitting desks and also with walking treadmill desks, and we move between them (her more so than me, I have to admit). This means we move our laptops with us, which can be a chore. Fortunately, we got setup with monitors/keyboards/mice at both desks, and the use of these small USB hubs provided a critical ingredient in being able to do a hassle-free move by simply unplugging the power, video, and this USB hub at one desk and then re-plugging them back in at the other desk. We both have various USB phone chargers, keyboards, wireless mouse adapters, video-conference cameras, etc, that are connected via USB, and this thing makes it a snap to have to only unplug and replug one connection. We've never had any technical issues with devices plugged into this hub, either. Bottom line is this was a cheap investment that provides great convenience, highly recommended. ... show more

  • Works great
Style: 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub
I just don't understand why Computer makers only put on USB port on computers now a days.... almost anything music related can be attached to the computer by USB.. and other things like flashlights can be charged thru the USB port.. I have 3 USB items plugged in all the time.......I appreciate that I don't have to worry about switching out items anymore because I only have one USB port on the computer. ... show more
