Description

The Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor Bundle is a perfect complement for the editor on the go. It interfaces with macOS or Windows editing systems running DaVinci Resolve, providing you with keyboard shortcuts and controls that speed up your editing, compared to using a mouse to navigate your edit system. The Speed Editor is small enough to take with you on location, and its built-in battery allows you to use it via Bluetooth for a wire-free connection. The Speed Editor can also connect to your computer via an included USB Type-C cable in case if you want to work hardwired, and the USB Type-C cable also charges the keyboard. The Speed Editor features dedicated push buttons that control the edit modes, timeline navigation, and effects of DaVinci Resolve. Additionally, these push buttons provide shortcuts to useful features available only on the Speed Editor. The built-in Search Dial is similar to the jog wheel often found on professional edit decks, but in conjunction with the push-button keys and DaVinci Resolve software, the search dial is much more powerful. Paired with the Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 17 Studio is a major release with over 100 new features and 200+ improvements. The Color page features new HDR grading tools, AI-based magic mask for targeted grading, and a color warper. Fairlight provides a faster workflow with updated mouse and keyboard edit selection tools. Fairlight also has a next-generation audio engine and busing architecture with support for editing 2000 tracks in real time. Box Contains Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor, USB Type-C Cable (4.9'), Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Studio Activation Code.

  • I wish I had switched earlier
Davinci and this edit deck were a major upgrade to my content. Free updates keep my in the latest version. It has a few ways to edit so you can pick what's easy for you to start and later develop your skills. on day one the access to drop downs and edit pages will make your editing much easier. Using the smart cache and playback resolutions can help run this program on a slower computer. The edit deck is such a time saver. I only know how to use half of the deck at this point but shave hours of going back and forth between the keyboard and the mouse right click. probably my favorite thing about the deck is the jog wheel control. Not only for precise placement of edit points, but it also acts as a level scroll for other deck editing functions like sound and color. All of this and I haven't even mentioned professional quality masking and graphics. Great for beginner to basic editors but with big time features to challenge and satisfy elite editors. ... show more

  • Feels like a million bucks to use.
I absolutely love this thing. It took a bit of time to learn to use it well but it's invaluable. Mine came with my copy of Davinci Studio and i could not be happier with it.

  • Turns your keyboard/mouse workstation into a real video editing workstation
Oh man.. what a blessing this Speed Editor is!!! Retired Senior S/W engineer with 35 yrs of dev experience.. lots of computers, keyboards and mice.. all works fine for Windows based software with Borland and Microsoft compilers and IDEs, etc. Never really an issue with keyboard and mouse access to apps etc.. all normal BUT.. trying to use a sophisticated Video Editor tool (like DaVinci Resolve Studio) means your mouse clicks BETTER BE PRECISE!! And if your mouse pad has a few bumps and your hand is not as precise as it was 20 yrs ago.. then this is a serious productivity problem... 10X increase in frustration and time. Now, with the Speed Editor, plugged into a powerful enough GPU based workstation, the video jog wheel is a JOY!!!! Being a newbie to DaVinci Resolve Studio has limitations but having the Speed Editor and learning how to use it is by far a great choice to pick up tricks and productivity enhancements. One thing right out of the box is the Speed Editor's jog wheel's choice for advancing video back and forth. This makes it SUPER EASY to find video content -15X anybody :-) - and .25 and .5 speeds too? I got my undergrad degree in Radio TV 40 yrs ago and worked Sony broadcast video cassette machines with their jog wheels and now having this Speed Editor at my fingertips, brings those early college days back :-) If you're a pro editor, then this is a no brainer. If you're a newbie and can afford it (and get the Studio license included) go for it! It should make your video content creating better! ... show more

  • Speed Editor is a Great Deal with Da Vinci Resolve Studio
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the unit and more than thrilled with its functionality and ease of use with Da Vinci Resolve. Black Magic Design provides a great offer to include Da Vince Resolve Studio free (normally $295) when you order the speed editor. Worth taking the risk for only $105 more. For me, it turned out to be a great deal! ... show more

  • Great Value
Best Value for money of any video editing software. Getting the Speed Editor is just a bonus.

  • Very powerful video editing software...
This Pro version vs. the Free version has many functions that are not included in the Free version. The function that most attracted me was the "People Finder". It works well but not great. It will find people in the video that you can "name" however it seems that it doesn't find all of the instances of that person in all of the chosen videos. Perhaps my understanding of the "DaVinci Resolve Studio" is limited and I'm not implementing it correctly or hopefully Black Magic Design will improve this feature. BTW, "Studio" is the pro version. ... show more

  • I bought for the software
First of all I do not use the hardware. I use a 3 button mouse which is essential if you don't use the hardware. I am new to Davinci Resolve but not to video editing having used Adobe Premiere, After Effects and PowerDirector, Vegas, and others (when Adobe went to subscription model), and various audio editing software. Here is my quick review for the Davinci Resolve Studio software: PROs: -Fantastic Value considering you get such a complete set of video and audio editing and video compositing, and color grading tools. -Fusion flowchart model is so powerful and visually intuitive -Very efficient when using Apple M1 processor or Nvidia RTX GPUs. -Lifetime of software updates (at least I hope so). -Extremely flexible. Sooo many options. -Lots of 3rd party software support (some free or near free such as Reactor tools). -Great informational support communities on various platforms such as Yahoo, FB, Reddit, Black Magic Forum, etc. -Includes tools not found in the competitors software such as deflicker, denoiser, object removal, object tracking, 3D, Particle, and Optical Flow. -Can be used as a photo editor. It has many of the capabilities of Lightroom and Photoshop built-in supporting both video and photo editing. CONs: -Requires a creator or gaming desktop or laptop. I use a i7 11th gen, Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU, 32 GB memory Window 10 64 bit laptop and the performance is adequate most of the time. My laptop has touchscreen which I don't use as much anymore because I need a three button mouse. I now wish I skipped the touchscreen option, and gotten an Nvidia RTX 3090 GPU. -It's a bit buggy. Definitely turn on Live Saves and Auto backups. I don't think, however that is any buggier than it's competition. I understand, it's complicated software with many layers of software and hardware from many different organizations. -the user interfaces font is too small for a 16" 2k laptop screen. However now I have gotten use to using screen magnifier apps on Windows 10. It really helps. I use Glassbrick, free from Microsoft store. -Menu organization is confusing. Sometimes you know what you want is up there but you have to search several menus to find it. -Some user interface components are not consistent between the submodules. For example, use of the mouse wheel on the video display windows. On some it scrolls the window up and down, and on others it zooms in and out. -While there is already tons of documentation, it is still missing a ton. While common nodes (also called tools) in fusion are documented, it doesn't seem to be a large percentage. Thank God for the support communities. ... show more
