This little device is AMAZING! Both the Tapo app and the Tapo C236 3K Camera far exceeded my expectations. Excellent visibility (panoramic, tilt, ai zoom, night vision, color). Motion detection and notification is superb. The app is easy to download and install and provides a host of functions, many I didn’t even know I needed or wanted. Excellent connectivity! Can be mounted or set in an office on a shelf. It can record images/video locally on third-party media, or you can subscribe to their cloud based storage (Not required for use). Can issue a piercing audio alarm, if desired. As far as value for money is concerned, I’m amazed at the quality and features of this little security camera that come at a fraction of the cost of some of the more recognizable brands in this field. The app even allows you to control the camera’s operation remotely and supports several cameras simultaneously, so you can build a complete security setup without the need for wiring. So far it’s great, no issues, imagine is clear day & night. The patrol setting is awesome, it smoothly follows the movement & isn’t blurry at all. I haven’t used the voice yet but just setting it up it sounded clearer speaking than some of their inside cameras. I’m not sure how far away from the WiFi it can be as I have mine set up right outside my window, but the connection is great outside. The app is very easy to use/navigate. It works great during the day and night. The app is easy to setup and very intuitive. It’s also one of the least expensive cameras on the market but the quality is very good for the price point. Night vision can be in two different modes. Infrared in B/W or the built-in spotlight for color recording. PROS: This has all the detection features you need. You can watch the live feed without timeouts while on your local connection. you can access your live feed and recordings while away from home without any stupid subscription fees. The live feed while on your local connection streams through your WIFI instead of going to the cloud and back like some cameras do, so the picture quality stays consistent and the delay is less that 1 second making for easier more accurate pan and tilt operation. The sound quality of the speaker is good and the microphone picks up audio very clearly. Setting it up was a breeze and mounting was simple. The app has every feature I could think of and works very well. CONS: There is no dedicated app for PC or Mac and it must be controlled via the IOS or Android app, workarounds are available and simple. The local connection live feed can be viewed through VLC media player with a few easy steps but pan and tilt controls are not available in VLC. For pan and tilt controls and a live feed you can set it up with OBS and 1 plugin for OBS called OBSptz to control the pan and tilt and view the feed. The power cord is only 6 feet. Great camera, nice image quality, the sensor is not big enough to provide amazing views at night, but at daylight they do look amazing. Fully waterproof. No instruction on how to clean the water drops, I am afraid of scratching the lens so, it will stay dirty. Person detection at night, in my setup, doesn’t work. Only detects movement. And movement (pan and tilt) works amazingly it’s very fast and it allows to save certain positions, which saves a lot of time. Tracking in my case doesn’t work, it is too close to the movements so it looses them and, in this case, looses the activity and gets stuck at that position, which made me disable it. ... show more
