Description

The Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2 Lens for Sony E is fast handling and packs expressive power that is the signature of fixed focal lenses. It is the ideal first ultra wide-angle lens for any photographer. It is designed exclusively for Sony mirrorless cameras. Light weight and compact, the Model F050 is extremely portable, ideal for situations where you need to travel light. The Model F050 is a creative tool that dynamically captures scenery by maximizing the perspective unique to ultra wide-angle lenses. The incredibly short 0.11m (4.3 in) MOD (Minimum Object Distance) makes it possible to get closer to your subjects than you would ever imagined. In addition to the F/2.8 aperture, the Model F050 is constructed using special glass materials including LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements effectively arranged to quash aberrations. The Model F050 provides outstanding optical performance across the entire frame, and delivers a sharp image, right down to the texture of the subject. With Moisture-Resistant Construction and dirt-resistant Fluorine Coating, photographers can shoot confidently outdoors. If you can own only one ultra wide-angle, the Model F050 should be your first choice.

  • Best affordable wide angle!
Size: Lens Only Style: Sony E Mount
I bought this lens as a budget astrophotography and landscape lens for my Sony A7iii. Firstly, I had read a few reviews on various sites that the threading would give me trouble attaching it to the Sony A7iii specifically, but I had zero issues with that at all. Secondly, the lens does come with both a rear and front lens cap as well as a lens hood, however the lens hood is fairly cheap. Despite this, the lens hood still helps with reducing flaring and glare in images. There are so many pros to this lens that will outweigh the cons, especially for the cost. Pros - Small/compact, sharp at f/2.8, very affordable, decent build quality, distortion is very mild, close focus distance. Cons - Autofocus is a tad slow and fairly noisy, build quality is decent but at the end of the day it's still plastic, some vignetting at f/2.8. For me, I do primarily photography on it, so autofocus noise is fairly unimportant as I'm not doing film work. A lot of my photos are also on tripods and manually focused anyways, so autofocus speed is less important to me as well. I'd say the image quality I've gotten from this lens is easily comparable with lenses that are twice the cost or more! If you're on a tight budget but still want a full frame lens, go for it! Given the price, this is easily 5 stars! ... show more

  • Very impressed with this ultra wide lens, especially for $249! Light, Sharp & Macro-Like
Size: Lens Only Style: Sony E Mount
This lens is great especially for the $249 that I paid. What I love most is the sharpness, the lightness of the weight and the close focus ability. I knew about the downsides having watched and read numerous reviews: slow focus, loud AF and distortion. The distortion is auto corrected in my Sony A7iii and also correctable in editing software so it isn't an issue. The AF is the price you pay and is not a deal breaker for me. The focal length of 20mm is plenty wide enough for someone like me that doesn't shoot a lot of super wide shots. The bokeh is pretty good and the f/2.8 is just good enough for some low light situations esp. with an A73 or better. I think this lens is great for someone who wants a decent ultra wide for under $300 and maybe doesn't use wide angles too much and doesn't want to spend money on the Tamron 17-28 or Sony 20mm 1.8 or maybe someone who wants a super light ultra wide with good quality. This Tamron 20mm f/2.8 is smaller, lighter, cheaper and has a much closer focus distance than both of those popular lenses. The macro like capabilities allow for some unique shots not possible with other lenses. You can completely blur out the backgrounds even with an ultra wide focal length! If you're going to be doing a lot more VIDEO than maybe one of the other two lenses are better for you. For occasional video this Tammy is fine. ... show more

  • Great little lens
Size: Lens Only Style: Sony E Mount
Love this lens for the price. Great for landscapes. Pretty sharp for such a cheap lens. Focus works well (not hard for such a wide angle). Little to no distortion, easy to fix in Lightroom. Won’t be as great as the g master stuff but it does the job!

  • Tamron delivers with this 20mm
Size: Lens Only Style: Sony E Mount
If you want to buy a lens, find a more in-depth review on youtube or a blog dedicated to review of lens. The following are my personal experiences. The only edited photo is the starburst (cropped and color adjusted). The rest are as-is on a Sony A7Rii I find this lens to be wonderful. Great macro and bokeh (see flower pictures with blurred background). I also really like the starburst, a wonderful 14 point (see sun burst image). This lens is light, inexpensive (under $300), relatively bright (f-stop of 2.8), and comes with weather sealing. For a A7rii user, I like to pick lenses that offer weather sealing to take full advantage of my camera's weather sealing and (honestly) a little more peace of mind when in harsher environments (the beach with sand and humidity and water). Something that I have heard people complain about: This lens does have a decent amount of barrel-distortion. It does but honestly that's what a 20mm wide angle is going to give you (unless you decide to spend $2500, but then you compromise on weight and size). I find the barrel distortion to be forgivable (sometimes I'm looking for that effect in shots), not really a factor (distortion occurs in blurred regions), or easily correctable (use of post processing). I wouldn't buy this as my first lens for a camera (20mm is not good for portraits, or wildlife) but I a good 2nd or third addition. ... show more

  • My Most Used Lens
Size: Lens Only Style: Sony E Mount
The lens has awful barrel distortion although my understanding is this is common for wide angle lenses. It’s easily correctable in images with photo editing software. Otherwise, decent lens. Right focal length at the right price. It’s the lens in my collection that I use the most TBH.
