Love love love this lens. I bought it to take pictures at my kids events. It is sharp and get me close to the action. Because it is a 2.8 I can get pretty good images wven if the lighting isn't great. I recommend this lens.

  • Nice lens
I’m sure it was a good lens but I decided I didn’t need it. It was a want and not a need.

  • Lens Lives Up to the Hype
As a photographer, acquiring the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens has been a dream come true. This lens has quickly become my go-to for outdoor photography, and here's why: Sharpness: The laser-sharp focus this lens offers is truly remarkable. The clarity and detail in every shot make this lens stand out from the rest. Zoom Range: With a 70-200mm range, the zoom capability is versatile and beautiful. It allows me to capture everything from distant landscapes to intimate portraits with ease. Build Quality: This lens is solidly constructed, giving me the confidence that it will endure the demands of my photography adventures. Image Stabilization: The IS III system in this lens ensures that even at long focal lengths, I can get crisp shots without the need for a tripod. Bokeh: The wide f/2.8 aperture provides a lovely background blur (bokeh), making it ideal for isolating subjects and creating visually stunning images. Performance in Various Conditions: Whether it's bright daylight or low light situations, this lens performs excellently. The focus is quick, accurate, and quiet, making it suitable for various types of photography, including wildlife, sports, and portraiture. Compatibility: As a Canon DSLR user, this lens integrates seamlessly with my camera body, enhancing the overall user experience. Value: Although it's a premium lens, the quality and performance justify the investment. It's a lens that I foresee using for many years to come. Summary: The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens has not disappointed me in any way. Its range, sharpness, build quality, and aesthetics make it a joy to use, and it's no wonder it's always on my camera when I head outside. • Subtly better than my old Mark II
I've had the Mark II for 8 years and admittedly, the improvements here are subtle. I tried a one-to-one comparison in my living room and couldn't swear I'd seen a difference. Used it tonight to shoot a rock band in a local venue--a fairly tough test--and I loved it. The photos came out looking great, sharp and crisp, despite shooting at ISO 3200 to 6400 (on a Canon 5D Mk IV). The autofocus was dead-on. . .EXCEPT when I bumped the Auto-Manual switch and turned it off. Did it a couple of times through the night. Is that a flaw of the lens or just my copy? Never had the problem with the Mk II, though I definitely have with my 24-70 and ended up taping the switch in place. I mention it only so others might watch out for it; for now I'm considering it Operator Error and not blaming the lens. One of the reported improvements over the Mark II was the handling lens flare. Canon was probably thinking of sun glare but for me, it's stage backlighting aimed right into my lens--and it handled it great. I don't think I got a single lens flare the whole night; nothing obtrusive, anyway. What else. . .it feels just like the Mark II. Same weight, balance, controls. Image stabilization is reportedly the same and I didn't notice a difference. You could certainly make the argument that it's not worth the money to upgrade. . . but overall, I'm impressed with the new lens and am glad I replaced my aging and battleworn old one. ... show more

  • WOW! What a great lens.
After shooting with my older EF 70-200mm 1:2.8 L IS USM for years, I started to notice that my images were softer than those taken with my other (newer) Canon lenses. I had it cleaned and recalibrated and while the results were better, I realized that it was probably time to replace it with the most current version. The new Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens is somewhat lighter and MUCH sharper. I just returned from an out of state nature shoot where I used this lens extensively hand holding it mostly at 200mm. All the images are tack sharp with excellent colour and detail. The 70-200 has always been my 'go-to' lens for many situations... I love the flexibility to choose either lovely bokeh backgrounds or excellent depth of field depending on the situation and the results I'm trying to achieve. This is a GREAT lens and although it's a bit pricy, it has already proven to be a professional tool that does exactly what it's supposed to. I'm really loving my new Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens and am glad that I didn't 'cheap out' with a less expensive competitors product. ... show more
