I have been using my French press to make cold brew but decided to go with a dedicated cold brew method and container. I decided on this product because I have been a big fan of Takeya tumblers for several years. The name has been synonymous with quality and durability. I typically only use glass but the glass version is much more than I wanted to spend but this Tritan plastic version is very affordable and works the same. The recipe and instructions are included and it's extremely simple and was to use. The fine mesh filter is great because I prefer a less coarse grind and this does not allow for the fine grains to pass through, resulting in a very clean pitcher of cold brew. I love the aesthetics and design but it's very tall, making it hard to fit in my refrigerator configuration. I had to adjust the shelf to accommodate the height but other than that, I'm very happy with this product. ... show more

So I love tea, but I hate being warm. I've had a bunch of loose leaf tea just sitting in my cupboard throughout Summer because I didn't want to drink something warm when it was already too hot in our house. From the first time I used this it immediately became a "why didn't I buy this sooner?" kind of thing. Now I always have tea either steeping or ready to drink. I've used it with both green and black teas, which have both been fantastic. Going to try a herbal chai tea next. The tea tastes perfect, exactly as it does with a perfectly steeped hot tea, but with cold brewing it somehow doesn't get bitter when you leave the tea in too long, it stays perfect, so it's even easier than brewing hot. And I get four large cups out of this, instead of 2 with my kettle. Went with Takeya specifically because I use one of their metal insulated water bottles daily, and love it. Same quality here. I kinda wish it was glass instead of plastic, but at least if I drop this it isn't going to shatter on my feet. Drawbacks? If I'm being hyper-nitpicky, the way that the filter threads into the lid is kinda tricky. I usually have to try two or three times to get the threads lined up right. Can't recommend this enough. This is an excellent cold brew coffee maker! I have been very pleased with my purchase. Plus, it has saved me a ton of money from buying coffee from Starbucks (almost every day!) It is easy to use and if I get the grounds in by the early afternoon, my coffee will be ready to drink by 8 am. My first attempt at making cold brew low acid coffee in the hope that it could help with a long term acid reflux problem. Pleasantly surprised at how easy this coffee maker is to use and clean. I used Bizzy brand dark roast coarse ground coffee and it tastes great and is plenty strong for my tastes. (I prefer a strong dark roast).     • Easy and Cheap Way To Make Cold-Brew Coffee

I've always preferred cold drinks to hot ones so imagine my joy when companies started selling pre-made cold-brew coffee in the grocery store. At about $7 per bottle though, it was costing me more to buy it that way rather than brewing my own hot coffee and adding ice. It wasn't until I was perusing YouTube and saw one of my favorite YT'ers pouring her own cold-brew out of a refrigerated container. I immediately toggled to Amazon in a search for one similar and I found this product. After comparing prices and reviews, I decided to give this one a try. 3 weeks and several brews later here are my takeaways: Pros: Easy to clean and use, coffee tastes great, not going back to buying pre-made! Cons: Durability seems fragile as the soft foamy plastic on the handle is coming up already, it will leak if you don't screw the lid on tight so beware, since it has to brew laying down it takes up more space in my small fridge than I'd like Overall though, it's a much cheaper alternative to pre made cold brews and you can control the strength and taste of your coffee by selecting the brand/grounds/roast you want and by adding more or less ground to the filter. Special Note: I read through a lot of reviews and it seems the main issue most people had was the coffee grounds seeping into the liquid. It appears from reading the replies from the manufacturer and by my own experience with this, that they have created a smaller mesh filter and have stopped shipping the product with the old style. The new style is so good that I'm using fine ground coffee and have had NO grounds in my end product. So please disregard older comments about this issue if you're ordering this for the first time. Another main issue is about the leaking but if you screw the top on securely and shake any excess out into a sink before placing it back into the fridge that will prevent leakage. For just in case, it's good to have a paper towel under your brewer when placed on its side. ... show more
