  • Good morning my new friend. Smoother than Al Green.
Color: Black Size: 1 qt
In one sentence: excellent cold brewer that can make mortal coffee into a breakfast Demi-god. Ok, so hyperbole aside - this brewer is excellent. Very easy to use. Well constructed and delivers on the advertised promise of good coffee. I recently used this to brew some coffee using box box store economy coffee [think folgers or m-well house]. The results? More than passable and quite good. I wanted to deal this brewer a bad hand to see what it could do and I stand impressed. It transformed coffee that we loathe to brew hot into a smooth and mainly flavorful affair. I'll be using better coffee in the future - but am convinced that this brewer will continue to deliver. Product-wise, this is a very well thought out device. The sealing top is a great touch. The quality plastic (no bpa) is a minor demotion - but since this is being used in a cold application, I am less concerned with any kind of potential leeching. The size is another high point. It sitting in the fridge door is a smart choice and much appreciated. The capacity is enoug for my use. It produces four concentrated servings that suit my family's size well (2 coffee drinkers). The value here is superb. Cold brew is available in the grocery store at about $5 a bottle, so this stands to save on the cost of coffee and to produce less waste. Very pleased with this product. Looking forward to many smooth cups in the future. One tip: The coffee measurement is 14-16 tablespoons. If you aren't big on counting all the way to 14 or so, it looks like the coffee when measured and in the filter essentially lines up with the top of the filter where the mesh ends on the inside. So not all the way up - but right above the internal line of the filter. Hope that helps. ... show more

  • Great for tea too!
Color: Black Size: 2 qt
So I love tea, but I hate being warm. I've had a bunch of loose leaf tea just sitting in my cupboard throughout Summer because I didn't want to drink something warm when it was already too hot in our house. From the first time I used this it immediately became a "why didn't I buy this sooner?" kind of thing. Now I always have tea either steeping or ready to drink. I've used it with both green and black teas, which have both been fantastic. Going to try a herbal chai tea next. The tea tastes perfect, exactly as it does with a perfectly steeped hot tea, but with cold brewing it somehow doesn't get bitter when you leave the tea in too long, it stays perfect, so it's even easier than brewing hot. And I get four large cups out of this, instead of 2 with my kettle. Went with Takeya specifically because I use one of their metal insulated water bottles daily, and love it. Same quality here. I kinda wish it was glass instead of plastic, but at least if I drop this it isn't going to shatter on my feet. Drawbacks? If I'm being hyper-nitpicky, the way that the filter threads into the lid is kinda tricky. I usually have to try two or three times to get the threads lined up right. Can't recommend this enough. One of the best purchases I've made on Amazon in a long time. ... show more

  • Can't go wrong with this
Color: Black Size: 2 qt
I've had and used several times a week for 4.5 years. This is just an outstanding little set up. Easy to use and easy to clean (as long as you don't let the coffee grinds dry in the filter). Really durable, great buy that makes excellent could brew.

  • Easy to brew and makes excellent coffee
Color: Black Size: 2 qt
My first attempt at making cold brew low acid coffee in the hope that it could help with a long term acid reflux problem. Pleasantly surprised at how easy this coffee maker is to use and clean. I used Bizzy brand dark roast coarse ground coffee and it tastes great and is plenty strong for my tastes. (I prefer a strong dark roast). I’d give it five stars if the beaker was glass instead of plastic. ... show more

  • Reviewed.com loves it. Sediment? Not really a problem
Color: Black Size: 1 qt
I'm updating this review. I've watched a couple vids on this thing, and everyone seems to be doing this the hard way. The basket it tall and skinny. You have to hold it and spoon the coffee in. Ho hum, what a bother. Wait a minute! No you don't! This is much easier: Before you fill the brewer with water, just plop the basket into it, which holds it for you. Then you can simply pour the coffee into the basket directly from the bag it comes in, one handed, while you smoke a $25 cigar with the other hand! There. That was a lot easier, wasn't it? Then, remove the basket, screw the lid on, fill the container with water, and you're golden. It's watertight, so shake it a few times. They recommend 24-36 hours. There's a couple ways to speed that up. Heat a quart of water in the microwave, but not quite to boiling, and use that water. The plastic is rated for it. Then let it sit out overnight. Cold brew can easily exist at these temps for 12 hours or more. Warmer temps = quicker cold brew. Reviewed.com thinks this is the best cold brew pitcher out there. I agree. It is a marvel of engineering. Everything about it is just perfect. Whenever you pick it up, fill it, clean it, or use it, it's fun, because it feels solid and elegant, and well-thought-out. And the price is right. The only thing that could make it better is a water-line mark for filling (added my own). And, it's cute! Do you have to remove the basket after 24-36 hours? No. I leave it in until the cold brew is gone. No problem. Day 4 will be a tiny bit stronger than day 1. Is sediment really an issue? Let's put that one to bed, right now. In a word, no. It's really not. Sediment has a couple of minor problems. But the biggest problem it has is that it might be visually unappealing. The other issue is has is it can impart a gritty feel to the palate. Other than that, it really has no other issues at all. But there are simple ways around this, much simpler than refiltering. What is sediment? Is sediment a bad word? Again, no. Sediment is coffee. It has the exact chemical structure as the molecules suspended between water molecules in the rest of the coffee. So it is not something to be abhorred because it might be ruining your coffee. It actually is coffee, so that would be impossible. And you can ignore it. Sediment is clumps of those same coffee molecules too large to be suspended along with the other molecules, so it sinks to the bottom of the brewer, or to the bottom of the cup. Just pour from the brewer, and the sediment (99% of it) stays behind. If any gets in your cup, it sinks to the bottom. About the worst that could happen is that there could be a slight gritty texture to the very last drops in your cup. Your very last half-sip as you drain the cup. That’s it. If you don’t like that, just don’t do that. Stop when all that is left is the tiny bit of sediment (and the cup will clean easier, too). But it doesn’t taste bad. It tastes like coffee. It is coffee. It is honestly not a problem. And if you are put off by the visual of sediment, you can ignore that, too. It sinks, so it’s out of sight. This brewer does create sediment. Is it a problem? No. And if you want even less sediment, just use a coarse ground, and let the brewer sit another day longer. Grinding the coffee yourself in a hand grinder (actually kind of fun!) will give the least sediment, if done properly. The secret to long life is flexibility. Cold-brew is a sea change, it’s different than what we were used to for generations. But it’s better in many ways. It’s a welcome change. It’s a new paradigm, and is the new normal. If you can get over the fact that coffee you have been used to does not have sediment, and that cold-brew might have a small amount (which is not problematic and is both easily ignored and avoided) then you’re golden. I've used this brewer for 4 years. It's still going strong, and never disappoints. ... show more
