  • Great large capacity nonstick pan
Size: 12-Inch
I’m normally hesitant to get light colored cookware because I’m nervous about them becoming discolored over time. But I was in the market for a larger sized pan to replace my old nonstick that had gotten scratched up, and I liked that this one was ceramic (so no questionable Teflon coating), fully oven safe, and had the interesting feature of the red thermo spot to let you know when the pan has finished heating up. I’m often terrible when it comes to giving my pans enough time to fully preheat before adding food, so this feature helps me visually gauge when the pan is ready to go rather than just going off of my (frequently unreliable) sense of time. The first use admittedly had me a bit confused because the T in the thermo spot didn’t actually fully disappear, which is what I was expecting from the wording of the instructions. It does visibly fade when the pan is hot, but don’t wait around for it to become completely solid red while preheating because it never will. Or maybe my pan just didn’t get searing hot enough for that to happen, who knows. But I still find the thermo spot to be a useful feature when used in combination with some basic common sense and cooking knowledge. The pan itself feels well made without being excessively heavy, which is honestly a feat for such a large pan. I noticed that the handle appears to be hollow which may help to reduce weight — at first this worried me slightly, but I’ve had no issues with the build quality so far after a couple months of regular use. I’ve also seen no noticeable discoloration of the white coating as I feared, even when cooking with highly staining foods like kimchi (if you know you know). Granted I probably wouldn’t tempt fate by letting the pan sit out for a while before washing, but so far I’ve been quite impressed by the durability and have actually come around to the fun coloring of the pan. The nonstick coating has also worked perfectly, even when cooking eggs. Overall I am really happy with this pan — my only wish is that it came with a lid, since I didn’t already have any large enough to fit it. ... show more

  • Great!
Size: 12-Inch
I'd give this 7 stars if I could - I really like this pan. It's probably my new favorite pan. It looks really nice, but more importantly, cooks really well. Thought I'd put the nonstick to the test, and so I fried an egg in it without any fat. Warmed up the pan a bit, then cracked the egg onto the middle of the dry pan. I thought that I hadn't preheated the pan nearly enough and so expected it to stick horribly. There was no obvious or immediate cooking at first. After a bit, the egg warmed up and started cooking. After a bit longer I went ahead and added a tiny pat of butter, just for the flavor really; thinking that the egg was likely solidly adhered to the pan. It was just enough to create a tiny ring of melted butter around most of the egg, but clearly didn't go underneath it. I then went to flip it, expecting it to really be stuck. Nope. The egg just slid to the other side of the pan when I touched it. Flipped it and honestly couldn't get it to stick at all. It just slid around the pan. Removed it and other than a tiny bit of browned butter there was nothing on the pan surface. I then made some carrots, sautéing them in some butter and olive oil. Once I had them as soft as I wanted I added some honey and maple syrup, which I reduced to a thick glaze on the carrots. Despite browning a couple of the carrots, nothing stuck to the pan with this either. Heat distribution is also great. I'm using it on a gas stove, but thought that the heat was distributed very evenly across the pan. I've got the 12", which is a nice size. The sides are about 2 inches tall, which I think is just about perfect, since you can add a pile of food or fry something and then add sauces etc. Honestly have no negatives at all, and thought that the nonstick worked better than any other pan I've ever used (I do cook quite a bit). Oh, and the sticker about the color indicator Peeled right off with no residue at all. ... show more

  • T- Fal Frypan You Will Be Happy You Own
Size: 10-Inch with lid
This is NOT the T- Fal of years gone by. This frypan is light years ahead of the older ones in looks, safety and function. My frypan came in a pretty sage green with a cream colored interior. The color, alone, makes me want to cook in it. It has a stainless steel handle that is about 7 inches long. That is a little shorter than I prefer, but it does make storage easier. The frypan measures about 10.5 inches. The base material is aluminum but the ceramic coating shelters your food from it. The bottom has graduated sized metal rings to distribute heat evenly. The pan is oven safe to 500 degrees but I can't imagine using this pan at that high a temperature. It also comes with a glass lid that has a stainless steel rim and handle. It fits snuggly. I love it when frypans come with their own lids. This frypan has a feature I have never seen before. It is a circular sensor in the center of the pan. When preheating your pan for optimum use, the T in the center of the pan will disappear when the temperature for cooking has been reached. I think that makes this pan more useful for new cooks. As I have been cooking for many decades, I found this red circle in the center disrupted the aesthetics of the pan and unnecessary. I stress, however, that this is my preference, but someone else will find it handy. After washing and drying the pan, (always wash all pans before using the first time) I tried the non stick surface out. I made first a fried egg. It cooked well and did slide out easily. So far, so good. Then I cooked scrambled eggs and they slipped out too without residue left in the pan. I was satisfied. This frypan is a little lighter than I usually would choose, but it has several great features. I am glad I have it and will use it often. ... show more
