I wanted to replace my current rear-view mirror clamp phone holder with this cool magnetic one, but I ran into a problem. My android is NOT magnetic. Well, not a problem really, because the kit comes with TWO metal rings that can be adhered to the back of any phone so the strong magnet can grab hold of it. Here's where I had a problem, and it may be relevant to others. I recently purchased a custom-printed phone case, so I had zero intention of covering the printing with the metal ring. I tested the metal ring inside the case, but the case simply defeated much of the magnet's capacity to hold the phone safely. I donated this to a friend who doesn't use a phone case, so he can use it for his out-of-state trips. The instructions say to let the holder sit for 5 hours to let the adhesive on the base of it form a strong enough seal with the dashboard, and that (after using the alcohol wipe to clean the area) made a big difference. I have a new iPhone 15 and I bought this for my car for the long work commute I have. This product is awful. It wouldn’t stick to the dash no matter that I did, and I made sure to use the alcohol pad prior to placement, and I waited like it recommended (48 hours) before using it al all, and it still doesn’t stick.
