This lamp is a great decorative piece. It holds itself up just fine and does not tip over as it is heavy. The raven is made really well. The on and off switch being on the cord makes it convenient as well. I think it is a little too bright, but it is to be expected since it does not have a lamp shade like a typical lamp. This makes a nice decoration for Halloween. The raven is a sturdy resin and looks good with or without the light. The light is easily held in the beak and provides a very unique decorative light source. The light is not super bright, but not dull either. It provides a comfortable amount of light but isn't going to light up the entire room, but that isn't the purpose. You can always change out the bulb if you like. A creative product. ... show more

It’s definitely a conversation starter. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. It is a decent size and sturdy enough, I’m just not sure it’s worth the price. It does not have a lot of detail and is made from some form of plastic, but I guess it’s depends on what you like and your disposal income.

I wish I would have had my camera ready when Maggie the cat first saw this lamp. She became very attentive and proceeded to stalk the bird. Quite a disappointment when she found it was fake. As for myself, I find it whimsical and very lifelike every time I look at it. The bird is extremely detailed and well-crafted. It's a resin casting with very few imperfections. The detail is accurately shown in the seller's illustrations. By my scale the bird weighs slightly over 3/4 pound and it stands sturdily on it's feet, braced by the tail. People having a bit more talent than me might add a bit of paint to make the bird even more realistic. There are a few caveats: Despite the seller's suggestions, this is most definitely NOT a reading nor a study light. As a bare-bulb lamp, it requires a low-lumen bulb. The included bulb appears to meet this requirement, although there is no indication as to its rating. This is a lamp that would work nicely on a shelf or maybe on a hallway table as a nightlight. To use it as a nightlight in a child's room, the existing bulb is far too bright. However, you can find dimmable candelabra (E12) base bulbs on Amazon as well as plug-in LED dimmers. ... show more

Pros: stands up on its own without easily tipping over. Came with a lightbulb. Cord fits snug in the mouth so you can decide how long you want it without it sliding out.
