The media could not be loaded. See update below from 7/17/24! Then see update from 7/23/24 And update 7/30/24 sheesh So I can’t really rate this as far as how works just yet. I had to spend three hours today going to different hardware stores and the pool store because the size for the inlet and outlet for water and this heat pump is 1 inch. Allows like 1100 gallons per hour to go through it or so. I wish they said this when I bought it on the specs. Sand filter runs at 2100 gallons per hour and it has one and a half inch attachments. You think no big deal… Just get a reducer to accommodate it and make it the right size, but with water Pressure it can make a huge difference going from 1.5” to 1” So I was concerned that my sand filter may get overloaded with pressure or my heat pump might. They should advertise it differently. They should tell you what size inlet and outlet hoses are needed, which is 1 inch. It simply says it works for up to 5000 gallon pool, But if you are like me and you bought a sand filter That works for a pool that is bigger, then the hose attachments are bigger and that makes a big difference. There were no hoses provided with this heat pump And I am wondering how the hoses for my pool will handle the hot water that comes from this pump. It says it’s ready to be hooked up and no big deal. Did you know that you need to have a level base to attach it to? I didn’t. So now I have to figure out having someone build some kind of area for it to sit on and hope for the best. I’m gonna do a little bit more research to see if I should just return it and get the larger one which cost twice as much Unfortunately, unfortunately, Just call it good and return it because I can’t afford that. If there’s a way to update my comment on this heat pump, I will. Otherwise, I’ll see if I can add another one after I do my research and decide if I’m gonna try and hook it up. I wish it would’ve said the specs on the hose size for intake and output because I would’ve questioned it at that time. UPDATE: 7/17/24: I figured it out and was wrong about my sand filter and pump. Mine is a 1500gph pump and compatible with this heat pump with the exception of the hose size. What I did: ran the 1.5” hose from sand filter then attached an adapter that screws into the hose and attached a screw in pvc adapter to that. Then I glued 1.5” T-fitting to that. The T fitting had one end the reduced it to 1” and I attached that with glue to a 1” pvc coupling that had a threaded end to screw into the inlet. I did not glue the 1” end of the T fitting, that way I can remove the pvc for winter and clean it if needed and it also allows me to tighten the inlet if needed or change the washer on it. I ran the outlet the same way but instead of going to the sand filter, of course, it goes to the 1.5” hose that goes into the pool. Gonna see if I can attach a video and pic. 7/23/24: So I reached out to the company to ask them why when I am changing the setting for the temperature and I do it correctly how it says to do it, Then I get a code that says, “d0” First thing comes to mind is disorder. So I don’t know if it’s working, but my pool was set to 90° and I now have a solar cover on it and for whatever reason it is only 80° in the pool this morning so it’s not freezing cold but it’s definitely not 90° I have it set at. I set it to 100 degrees today and got that code(?). The pump is running, so we’ll see how it is a little later today. I’ll give an update Update 7/30/24: Sheesh. It’s a learning curve lol. “d0” simply meant I was looking at the ambient temp the pump is set at. The companies been really good about emailing me back, but I forgot to get back on here and update. Heat pump is working fine. I did buy some seal Tech insulation that’s 48 inches wide and 100 feet long that I’m gonna wrap around my pool. This will help insulate the sides from losing heat and I think I mentioned it earlier on this. I read that from a lady who did that to her in Oklahoma and it kept it really warm. The Heat pump says it will heat a pool up to 5000 gallons. That’s my pool size. So I think that the heat pump is kind of maxed out and that’s the need for insulation. Still, In the end, it’ll be a lot cheaper than putting out a couple thousand dollars for a bigger one. The only downside to the heat pump purchase is that Asurion is not sticking to the order I placed on the same day for two year protection. I received info on Amazon that the order was delayed. The shipment was delayed and then it sais something about that I could get a return For the Asurion protection cost that I paid. So I did that. Then I re-ordered it after talking to Amazon, who assured me that even though my new order for assuring was past 30 days since the purchase date, That the heat pump would be covered. I reached out to Assurion to ask them about this to make sure I was receiving the correct information. Julia, with Assurion, Emailed me back saying that Amazon is wrong and it will not be covered because the second purchase date was later than 30 days past the purchase of the heat pump. Sheesh. So just make sure if you order Asurion that maybe you do it through a different route because this is wrong. One last thing. In the beginning part when I talked about how I had to figure out the PVC to go from my one and a half inch hoses to 1 inch inlet and out outlet on the heat pump….well well well…. Had I only known On Amazon for like 10 bucks, you can buy two of those reducer couplings that go From one and 1 1/2 to 1 inch. LOL. Like I said, learning curve. Promised I’d keep updating. So here in the pacific nw, its sept 6, 2024 and I have an intex pool above ground, 10x20’x48” so not too deep. About 4800 gallons. On cool days, it was still around 84 in the pool. Too cool for me but it worked. Thank God I insulated it somewhat. We have some hot weather this week and now I’m running the pool heater 12hrs a day, so not as much as I sometimes ran it. It turned on with the sand filter pump. Got in tonight and temp is at 93…oh how nice! Probably have to disconnect some of it soon with fall/winter coming …sucks…but next summer…I’m good to go early on with this and looking forward to swimming a lot more often!

Unfortunately, my excitement of having heated water for my exercise pool. in the colder months - is not going to be a reality with this product. I purchased in October and due to a tragic death in family- my expert handymen pool person was unable to install just recently. But the hose on bottom was leaking and after many hours of trial and Errror and trying to solve the issue- it was still leaking. I had to have it un installed and now am out the almost 700.00 for this product.

As the product description states, this is not a pool heater. Which has its pros (saves energy!) and cons (takes a few hours to raise water temps). I purchased the up to 2,000 gallon model for a 1,000 gallon pool. And at first I was using the standard filter pump that the pool came with. I quickly realized that I needed a bigger filter pump in order to maximize the water running through the heat pump. Let me tell you it’s been the best investment for this years California summer. Temperatures haven’t been extremely hot so without the heat pump the water temps were around 75 degrees F. During a sunny day it’s fine but at night it can get very uncomfortable. Fortunately, this heat pump works and I’ve managed to get my pool to 92 degrees F in 80-85 degree weather during the day and 70-65 degrees at night. I definitely recommend this heat pump (make sure you purchase the right model for your swimming pool size).

I have a 750 gallon stock tank pool and this thing works good for me. It takes a few hours (it’s summer in alabama) to heat it up to 90 degrees. You can feel the warm water coming out. Does not kick on by itself like others have said from what I can tell. There is a setting for it but mine doesn’t kick on after it reaches temperature. I just turn it on with my sand pump and let them run for a few hours before I swim. This unit would struggle on a pool any bigger. It would have to run nonstop with your pump. Works though for smaller pools and uses very little energy. Also if you have a bigger pump and hoses, the adapters don’t fit. I have an Intex sand filter with 1.5 inch hoses and I had to go to home Depot and use pvc adapters to reduce the size down to 1 inch. The female holes on the warmer were 1inch and the adapters are meant for the small and cheap cartridge pumps with flimsy little hoses.

So the heater worked some what.. we have an above ground pool, solar cover ect. Pool would never get above 70 then after about 4 weeks of using it, it started throwing flow codes... buyer beware.. garbage heaters

Overall I was impressed with the price to performance on this unit but unfortunately there was a pretty bad internal leak and needs to be returned. Another issue was the barbed hose connectors. These kind of connectors are good for soft hoses but almost all above ground pools use hard plastic hoses. I had a little drip leak from the connectors at first, until I took them off and added a ton of Teflon tape around the barbs to help with sealing. I would recommend adding Teflon tape to the barbs from the start. I'm going to order the next model up as a replacement as this unit was just on the edge for my temperature zone.

I bought this heat pump for our small pool (827gal) and it works great. Keeps the pool at 90deg all day. The only gripe I have is I wish after sensing the pump was off (low flow) that once the pump turned on the heat pump would restart. It does not, you have to cycle power. To get around this there is a setting that once the power is cycled it will auto start. As long as the pump and heater are on the same timer you will have no issue but seems a simple software change could fix this and simplify the install. Overall it's money well spent after wasting money on a solar heater... I paired this with a Birtechway 13" 2853 GPH pump and used filter balls instead of sand. Love it!
