🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviewed electric bike garners mixed reactions, primarily positive, with riders appreciating its speed, portability, and quirky features. Though designed for commuting with ease of folding and a robust build, some users highlight limitations such as the small wheel size affecting its functionality without power, and occasional mechanical issues. However, updates and long-term use reveal a substantial improvement, with solutions for initial drawbacks such as squeaky brakes and battery problems, enhancing its appeal.

Pros

  • 🚴‍♂️ Fast speed with 18 miles per hour capability
  • 🔧 Solid, easily foldable design aimed at commuting convenience
  • 💡 Built-in headlight and battery for security
  • 🚵‍♂️ Effective on steep hills, supported by peddling
  • 🔄 Positive long-term updates, including no-flat foam for tires and resolved brake issues

Cons

  • 🔧 Initial mechanical challenges (e.g., squeaky brakes, battery issues)
  • ⏲ Short-lived battery life mentioned in a singular review
  • 🚲 Small wheels limit joy and speed when riding without power

Should I Buy It?

If you value a portable, uniquely designed electric bike for short commutes or leisure, and are willing to potentially navigate initial mechanical adjustments, this bike could be a great addition. Its pros outweigh its cons, especially with the manufacturer's support addressing early concerns. Ideal for those looking for a fun, functional ride with some DIY maintenance potential.

  • Great Bike But Had To Return
Reading the 1 star reviews I don't agree with any of them. The battery lasts fairly long and can last longer if you don't always have it on full blast! The bike has fast pick up and it goes around 18 miles an hour, not 11. The folding is very easy and I guess it's heavy but it's also a solid bike with a frame that's literally a handle so I felt moving it around and folding it was very easy. Meaning, this bike was designed with commuting in mind and is very effective. I had a folding bike before and this one is easier. I love the headlight and it's a comfortable ride. The bike is useable without power BUT the small wheels limit the amount of joy in riding it without power. The gears help a little but small wheels are small wheels. No matter how many gears you stick on it, you'll only go so far per rotation so it only goes so fast. I felt the ride on full throttle was comparable to an e-scooter. Oh and it will get you up a very steep hill. You can also use the peddling to compensate if the hill is super steep. I rode it up the side of a mountain road. WHY did I return it and only give it four stars? Brakes squeak like crazy. Support told me ways to adjust but I don't want a new bike that I had to fix. If the next one squeaks I like the bike enough that I'll keep it and work through the squeak but that was a real bummer. Other than that I really like it. Another bonus is that the battery and light are built into the frame so nobody can really steal anything off you. Again, they thought of a lot to make this a great commuter bike. Update--got a new bike and the brakes do not squeak! So I was sent a bad bike. Update 2--two years later. Added a bike rack for a saddle bag and also a post for a trailer/and a bike trailer. Both of them work well with the bike. The bike was getting flats more than normal so my bike guy put in that no flat foam (green) and I haven't had flat in over a year of daily use. Brakes will go every five months. This might have to do with the fact that I am always driving this on high speed and the brakes have to slow it down. Other than that I still think it's a great bike. I would like maybe a bike with bigger wheels but then it defeats the purpose of the small size. On that note I did buy a bag to put the bike in when it's folded, which is great for ubers and buses if anyone gives you any crap just say it's an English horn. And finally, I did have a battery issue which was making the bike jolt. Customer service walked me through what might be wrong. I bought a replacement battery and the problem went away. Customer service isn't bad. They guy on the phone just doesn't come off as chatty but he knows what you're talking about and will help you out. If you do need to send it back they will pay for delivery shipping after they fix it (post warranty) but not to send it to them. It's actually cheaper to ship to them then take it to a local place because many places don't have the parts for this bike. That being said, Swagtron does have parts issue if you have an older version of the bike. They released different types of these bikes but they look the same and are called the same model. ... show more

  • Fun and sturdy!
Beautiful well made bike. The color is amazing, it's even better in person. The bike is firm, comes mostly assembled. I had to put some air in the tires and make a small adjustment in the gear derailer due to a small clank noise when at the lowest gear. It's smooth as butter now. The headlight is very bright and great for night riding. The speed is great, I got close to 20mph with pedal assist and almost 19mph on throttle only. I'm 200lb! The bike is light and easy to carry and the folding mechanism is easy and intuitive. Great and fun bike! ... show more

  • Fraudulent Company & Bizzare Customer Service
First off, the bike is actually really cool. It’s small, fast, and easy to take into locations to prevent theft. However, the bike will break down within a year, and the customer service is extremely poor. My first bike broke down within a year, so I exchanged it for a new one. Unfortunately, the replacement also broke down. I can’t buy a replacement battery, and the brakes don’t work. It’s completely unreasonable for an $800 bike to fail so quickly, especially without any after-sales support. When I contacted their customer service about exchanging the bike through Amazon, in line with the warranty, they accused me of fraud. Uh, okay… hahaha. ... show more

  • Great intro to e bikes
This bike is awesome...a good introduction to e bikes. It is compact and powerful. If you get a flat and can't fix it you can call a share ride or friend and throw it in the trunk. Hills are a breeze at about 12-13 mph...Sometimes I use the bus and my eb-7 It usually is not in the way folded..some drivers give me a hard time when trying to take it on the bus so I have a strap and strap it down because the bus bike racks are for larger bikes and I would hate for it to fall off and get run over by the bus. The top speed for me is 19.5 on a fresh battery. Learning to conserve the battery is useful...switchig from 1 2 and 3 depending on the terrain and distance these are small batteries. Also having a backup battery is necessary. On the highest setting you will only get about 7-8 miles.a few minor issues would be the flimsy key to lock and unlock the battery..you can easily break the key if you are not paying attention and the lock sticks sometimes and I have to wiggle and move the lock before it will work. The inner tubes seem cheap..upgrading the inner tubes, tires and brakes pads and adding tire liners fenders and turn signals would be wise. If you are in poorly maintained streets, the small wheels will make for a rough ride..if you have smooth bike paths and streets, your commute will be fine.. my city has very rough streets and bike paths so it is a bumpy ride for sure, but the bike is holding up. After a month I notice that if I have half a battery on my main battery and turn it off...when I get back on and turn the bike on..it indicates a full charge...this seems odd but minor...after almost 400 miles I think the brakes are a bit soft and I have adjusted as much as I can the next pads will be upgraded. I've ridden in the rain through puddles..no issues...I suggest a bead of silicone around the seam of the controller and clear contact paper over the face of the controller. Also I try to protect to protect the throttle in rain. You will notice a few seams where the metal meets....I suggest using clear monster tape to aid in water resistance... actually clear tape on most of the bike will aid in stopping minor and moderate scratches. For my first e bike i am pleased and will upgrade to a larger bike due to the area.....get it make some modifications and enjoy it. ... show more
