Let me start off by saying that I'm highly critical of the toaster industry. If we ask ourselves what the primary function a toaster is supposed to have: evenly toast the outside of the bread. Most toasters completely fail at that. This toaster meets that requirement about 90%. Toasters with low power cook the inside of the bread. Toasters with too high power leave the inside of the bread raw. This toaster does a very good job. Depending on where the bread is, sometimes the cook is slightly uneven. On the toaster I received, the lowest setting does nothing. I like the setting at 4 out of 6 so the toast is just over medium. It gives a nice firm surface for cold butter and makes the inside warm. Why would the manufacturer put the cord attached near the front. The cord is short already. For those with deep counters my fins it annoying not to be able to pull the toaster out far enough and see the controls. For normal size bread, this is a two slice toaster. Ok by me. Obviously when the toaster is warm you may have to dial back the setting, but that's why I buy analog instead of digital toasters.

This is a neat retro 1950s style toaster that is double capacity. It does 4 slices of bread at once. It is two long sides and not four individual slots. It has simple controls and all the basic functions you would find on most toasters. We didn't see both sides lighting up at first but then it did overcook the bread so we know it heats up well, just need to turn the minutes down from our prior toaster. Pop tarts do tend to slide down a little and hit the sides when they pop up, melting/burning some frosting but it is so hot when first finished, it's hard to pull them out to prevent this. So I would say if you use it for thinner things a lot, this might not work well for you. It is a little pricey for a toaster so you are paying for the retro design and large capacity. It's pretty long so you should make sure you have the space for it. The cord is also a little shorter than most toasters.

This is a bit of an odd toaster. It has a retro look with a dial and a large knob. It also has only two large slots that can fit two pieces of toast each. There is only one control so you cannot turn on only one side. This toaster is either all on or all off. It has easy to use buttons. The “CANCEL” button stops the toasting and ejects whatever is inside. The “DEFROST” is supposed to be used if you put frozen toast (or whatever) into the toaster. And the “BAGEL” button is for toasting bagels, and instructions say to put the bagel in facing a certain way. I understand the CANCEL button, but honestly, I could not tell what the other two button actually did. When I pressed them, I did not notice any change in how the toaster was working. When I tested this toaster empty, I became very concerned. Only the two outside filaments would light up. I thought I had a broken unit as the inside filaments stayed dark. Then I put one piece of bread into the toaster to test it. Well, it worked perfectly. In fact, the side of the bread facing the inside of the toaster actually came out a little darker than the side facing the glowing outside filaments. So, even though the inner filaments don’t glow, they are working. Overall, this toaster works well. I have not tested it on anything but one piece of bread, but it did a good job with that. It is a simple-looking, odd-shaped toaster with retro controls, but I kind-of like that look. In other words, this toaster is cool.
