Superior Pump 91660 Tankless Water Heater Descaler Pump Kit, Deluxe 3.5 Gallon. This descaler Pump Kit is designed to clean and descale most Tankless Water Heaters. Complete kit includes 1/6 hp pump, 3.5 gallon pail with screw top lid, two 6 ft. stainless steel hoses and one 7oz pack of descaler powder. Superior Pump builds pumps that are truly built to last and are 100% factory tested. Superior Pump uses quality components including solid copper motor windings, reinforced thermoplastic and electronically controlled split capacitors. Pump included in kit is a Superior Pump model number 91016 1/6 hp oil free submersible utility pump. 91016 Pump will move water up to 1920 gallons per hour and includes a 3/4 in. garden hose adapter. This 1/6 hp pump is CSA certified and backed by a 1 year.

We decided to do the work ourselves as opposed to pay $600 to have a plumbing company come out and flush it for us. This is a nicely packaged kit. However, you should check the manual for your tankless water heater before buying this product. My Rinnai tankless specifies using a 4 GPM pump when descaling. The pump in this kit has a much higher GPM. Regardless, the bucket with the locking top is really nice. The citric acid+sulfamic acid descaler (Urnex brand) that is included with this kit can also be easily purchased in subsequent years. After learning that you are suppose to descale your tankless water heater annually I ordered this kit and did my rinnai after six years of use without being clean and no issues. I was very surprised how gross what came out if it was! Make sure to clean the cold water inlet screen after flushing!

Worked well. Good instructions and the product seemed well made. I used it the day I received it and was up and running ( descaling my tankless water heater) in less then 1 hour. So simple I would not hire someone to do it for me

The kit includes the bucket, which makes it easy to store everything until you need to descale the tankless heater again. The pump has decent suction power. I did notice it did get warm when it was running the descaler through the heater, but not overly hot. Instead of turning the cold water back on to flush it, I emptied and refilled the bucket with one and a half gallons of cold water. I flushed for 10 minutes, dumped the bucket and did it a second time to ensure the water coming through was clear. We were having significant loss of pressure in our tankless hot water heater. We had a plumber come out and he found that the heater had a significant scale buildup which he felt was the cause. He quoted over $760 to descale the water heater. We used this kit to do the same thing for vastly less money. The hoses attached without issue and did not leak at all. We ran the liquid descaler that came with the kit for 1.5 hours. The water pressure after desalination was easily three times what it was prior. This water heater had gone almost 6 years without descaling. When we built the home, the builder did not tell us that tankless water heaters in hard water areas should be descaled once a year. Now we know, and we have this kit for the future. We STRONGLY recommend this kit to any homeowner with a tankless water heater. ... show more
