This chipper eats wood! Very capable 7hp motor starts on the 1st pull. While very portable, it's a workhorse. It takes about 20 min to assemble, very well packaged with excellent instructions plus a spark plug tool. Recently my motor had an issue but Fabian from GreatCircle came through and got me taken care of, so their warranty service is first rate. Keep the blades sharp, fuel stabilizer in the gas tank, air filter clean, oil full & changed, spark plug clean and gapped, watch exit chute as you chip (if it's plugged - stop and clear immediately) and you'll be chipping like a pro for years to come. Was really happy to experience these safety features: ** if running and it's tilted, motor will auto-shut off ** if there's no oil in it, motor will auto-shut off Highly recommended for keeping brush managed. *** 21 Jun 2023 update *** I've now had this chipper/shredder for a couple of years and thought this update might be helpful for those considering it or already own one. First, if you're planning on buying on or already have one, maintaining it is essential. It doesn't take much but here's the basics: * Check the oil every time before use - change the oil at least once a year, weather it's run a little or not * Always use fuel stabilizer in the gas tank since it may sit for a while before next use * After prolonged use, sharpen the blades and clean all the crap out * Keep the air filter clean * After chipping sappy trees (Lelandy or similar), may need to take apart and scrape or ouse Goof-off to remove all the residue that builds up inside the drum and chute, otherwise exit chute will get plugged and possible damage flywheel when chipped material does not exit chute. * Read the manual and follow their instructions I'm always impressed that this machine typically starts on the very 1st pull, even after sitting in the garage for 8-9 months. Then it eats through 2-3" rusty fig branches like it's nothing. This is only because the blades are kept sharp, the machine clean, oil & gas fresh. Take care of it and you'll be happy to see yours take care of you. **EZ steps to change or sharpen blades (update): 1) remove small metal face plate - 4ea 10mm nuts 2) remove narrow side plate under shredder chute - 6ea 13mm bolts/nuts (1 bolt is longer than the others) 3) use 3/16 allen head bolt from front where face plate was removed and 13mm wrench from rear to remove 6ea bolts holding blades in place. Keep flat washer, lock washer and nut from getting lost as they will be needed to reinstall in same order. 4) After removing all blade bolts, either put new blades on or sharpen old blades 5) Reinstall blades and both plates in reverse order of the above. *** *** The #1 thing that affect this Chipper Shredder's performance is sharp blades, so it's a good idea to keep a spare set on hand or have a way to sharpen the ones you have before starting a big job. If you have to push the wood into the chipper, then the blades are dull and things go downhill from there. The #2 thing that affects performance is maintenance - make sure you keep good gas (& fuel stabilizer) for fast & easy starting, keep air filter clean (check after each use) and every 6 months check all hardware to make sure it's still tight. All that vibration will cause it to loosen up over time - and don't forget the flywheel bolt. You have to open unit up but I found mine spinning loose after 20 hours of use so applied some lactate and torqued it down. ***** who should NOT buy this Chipper **** If you don't already have various socket sets and know how to use them, this chipper is probably not for you as it requires routine maintenance. If it's not maintained (oil is not changed, blades are not sharpened or replaced, fuel is not stabilized, all bolts/nuts aren't retightened) then it's going to have issues like some have posted with "catastrophic failure" or "doesn't start" or "doesn't cut wood". If you have these tools and use them, this thing works like a champ.

Does what is advertised to do (with one small issue)!

We live in a heavily wooded area and therefore, a lot of trees and limbs end up I our backyard. For years I would burn any shrubs and leaves we accumulated. I decided to try this product instead. The chipper was easy to put together. It took me about 30 minutes. The machine started nicely and was working perfectly. Then the blades began to dull. This happened after about five hours of usage. I was able to take the machine apart and remove the blades. They were in terrible shape. They are not durable at all! So, I ordered two sets of new blades from Amazon. I was able to easily replace the blades and the machine is working better than it did before. I hope these blades last longer. I am by no means a mechanic. However, the way the chipper is put together it makes it easy to take apart if you need to replace parts. My only complaint is the original blades are not durable. Other than that I am quite happy with this product!

Works Great For Keeping The Mess Down

I purchased my SuperHandy in March of 2020. I've been using it ever since. I've using it to shred my trimmings and yard waste to mulch. I've even shred ornamental grass trimming and mix it with my compost. In fact, I mix just about everything into my compost pile that I do not use for mulch. This is a great little shredder for branches 1" or less. It says it will do thicker, but it boggles down on branches over 1". I keep it to 1" or less, which is perfect for my needs. The only downside is the blades will dull, chip and become useless in a short time when shredding branches 1" or larger. I found it's better to slow it down to chipper mode for larger branches. I've tried to sharpen my blades, but that doesn't work the same as new. All in all, it's really easy to start. Even after 6 years and sitting in the cold all winter, it started up on old gas on the second pull. It is by far the best yard machine in my collection when it comes to ease of use.

Update 6/28/21 THIS COMPANY SELLS CHEAP PRODUCTS AND IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED. THEY WANT YOU TO FIX A UNIT THAT HAS NEVER WORKED RIGHT OR TO SPEND $150.00 TO SEND IT BACK. TECH SUPPORT is an oxymoron for this company. They wanted to send me new blades to fix the chipping issue, and totally ignored the motor not running. Now they want a video of the chipper not running so they can send other parts out so I can try to fix it myself. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE UNLESS YOU LIKE TO HAVE DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS THAT ARE TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIX OR RETURN. UPDATE 6/23/21 After pulling the unit out of the garden shed and oil/gas topped up the unit decided not to throw the chips out of the main body. I had to take it apart and dig out the compacted chips. It looks like a couple of twigs didn't get chipped and it clogged the chute. STAY AWAY FROM THIS AS FAR AS YOU CAN. IT IS SUBOPTIMAL WHEN IT WORKS AND IT WORKS LESS THAN YOU WILL WANT IT TO. The chipper arrived yesterday and I set it up this morning. Several of the bolts were a pain to get tightened as there is virtually no space between them and the patr that they are holding on. Socket set is not workable on several bolts, and the clearance does not allow more than a 1/4 turn with a crescent wrench. No dipstick on the oil cap as indicated in the instructions, so you have to guess at 1 quart. Placement of the oil filler is very poorly thought out as the unit needs to be tipped on its side to get to it. Make sure you add oil before the gasoline! And the filter/full indicator in the mouth of the gas tank prevents putting a nozzle into the tank. It comes out easily enough, but the idea that the gas can cannot go into the tank is pretty stupid. It started up fine and then did nothing with the leaves I put in. They compacted but did not shred. Figured out that the description is wrong, as nothing in the manual indicates that this shreds leaves. THIS IS NOT A SHREDDER. Small sticks are fine, but the first time I tried to put a 1.5" branch into it, the motor died with a horrible sound. I restarted and tried holding it back a bit so that the blades could do their work slowly, but that had the same result. The 3" figure quoted in the description is just as much a lie as the shredder description. THIS WILL NOT CHIP BRANCHES MORE THAN ABOUT 1" IN DIAMETER WITHOUT KILLING THE ENGINE. On the plus side, it is cheap enough that I don't have to feel like I got taken too badly. I could have paid 4 times as much for a really good chipper/shredder that would last for years, but I am not sure how much it will get used after the initial clean up work. This will do the trick for now, and when it breaks down I will buy a REAL chipper/shredded from any company except this one.

Items in box disheveled but Chipper works great so far

Update Jan 2026 - Well this little chipper is still going strong- the reason I am adding to this is— On the positive- Had it well over a year now - Been using it for almost 3 days straight the last few days - not to mention I beat it death this summer- filled over 6 wheel barrels full of chips. All branches under 1 “ - I save anything over that for fire wood - so that’s why it’s a good fit for me. And as far as wood chippers go it was a good price- The downside However in hindsight I wish I had gotten a bigger one - Also if the wood is green it has a tendency to clog the chute - but if you let the branches dry up a bit it’s works better. ———————- I do not write reviews unless something is great or bad - Well this is both - Only used it once but it was easy to set up and works as listede - however I have mostly small branches - anything 2” or up gets cut up for fire wood we have a small wood burning stove. The bad was the items in the box were all all thrown around- but nothing damaged or scratched? It was either handled poorly at some point - or partially unpacked and thrown back in ??? I gave it a 5 cause this little chipper is good for me.

The replacement blades did not fit

I've gotten about 12 heavy duty uses out of this machine and it's done pretty well helping clear some substantial limbs and branches. But, the original blades Amazon recommended for replacement clearly are not right (two bolts vs. the actual three on the original blades). I just noticed that Amazon now offers different replacement blades (three bolts) so I guess I'll need to order those, but I got hosed on the original replacement blades. We've got about 20 dead trees on our property that we are clearing so this machine has been very helpful in addition to two chainsaws, but I'm thinking blade replacement is going to be a bear. For now, I'm just sharpening the original blades with a file each time I use. Some thoughts after purchase: During assembly I was missing one of the hexagon flange lock nuts that was required. Needed 4, there were only three floating around inside the box. So I found a replacement from my tool box and moved on. Lo and behold after starting the machine for the first time what comes flying out of the chute? The missing lock nut. Maybe these should be put in a bag? If you are missing any nuts, check carefully inside the machine, they may have worked themselves in. So, after having had a lock nut work its way through the blades, I'm noticing after about 7 hours of hard work the blades are not cutting well. It won't cut branches bigger than 1" and what is being cut looks like straw. Clearly, the blades need sharpening or replacement. Luckily, I ordered an extra set, so I am planning on replacement. But... the manual has zero information on how to replace the blades, and Youtube came up blank. Actually, the manual advises replacing the blades on a regular basis, but there is zero information on how to do this. Fortunately, some competing manufacturers have posted information on blade replacement, so I'm going to try next weekend. In addition, the manual is weak. Definitely need to hire an out-of-work English major to provide some editing services. We've managed to knock out some mid-sized projects so far, but now that the blades need replacing it's working very hard on branches in the 1" range. We've got a big piece of land that needs lots of tending, so we're hoping our investment pays off in the long-run, but for now we've got dull blades and no guidance on how to replace. Update: Discovered a neighbor with a set of hydraulic tools, so he helped me change out the blades. 2 years in and the metal on the chute is starting to shear at the seams. Duct taped the thing together. If I can get 6 more uses out of it I’ll be lucky, but it’s done good work on about 20 projects and helped clean up a couple of thousand downed branches. Not sure what I’ll get as a replacement.

Very simple machine, quick to put together and compact to save room in the shed. It has limits but use with common sense works great! Built with sturdy materials for sure. Definitely worth the money!

Solid Chipper, but do not expect it to be perfect

I put this together as soon as it arrived. Quickly ran out to take on the pile of sticks I had developed. My visions of shredding it all in an afternoon were quickly thwarted. My first chips did not fair as well as I hoped. I jammed it on about the third stick. I had to completely tear it apart and put it back together. I lost a bolt. I got it back together and tried again. I had more difficulties. I slept on it. I realized that I could work through it. I paid attention. I still have to clear things out from time to time, but mostly I just get everything shredded without stopping. Here are some things that helped me. 1. PAY ATTENTION to the output chute. If it is not throwing chips, stop and find out why. Clearing the output is the easiest one to fix. You only have to release 2 bolts and shake out the chute and you are back in the game. 2. LISTEN To the Engine: If it bogs, back off. 3. Stick to 1 stick at a time. 4. I dropped a couple of 30ft branches. They started at 3". I was able run the entire branch through the chipper without stopping. I had to walk it through though. A little bit at a time. If you just let it go, the motor will stop. Take a little bite and back off. Take another little bite and back off. It took a couple of minutes to shred the whole branch, but longer piece are much better than shorter pieces. 5. There should be extra nuts available here... I found extra nuts and bolts here on amazon... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BP72W79Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 and bolts https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SSRSKJS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 the 25mm work for the bottom, but you sort of want smaller other places.. I lost a few nuts and bolts taking it apart in the field. After about 50 hours of run time, I have managed to break the Cutting Head. Waiting to hear back if I can buy a new one. the Chute also wore out. I was cheating and keeping it on with only 1 bolt because I had lots others... Seeing if I can get a replacement on that one. After getting used to the foibles of this machine, I am very happy with it. I have lots of chips now. The motor starts on the first or second pull. Some branches are harder than others... Make sure to listen to the branch and the machine. Sometimes I have to rotate the branch around to get it past the start of the branch... It will take 3" but the first foot or so of that tends to be hard...
