Quiet register booster fan with app control

This register booster fan works great and is impressively quiet. It fits perfectly in my 6" x 10" vent and noticeably improves airflow for both heating and cooling. The thermostat really helps balance the temperature in the room. The WiFi app control is easy to set up and use, allowing me to monitor and adjust settings from my phone. I like being able to switch between manual and automatic modes depending on my needs. The automatic mode takes a little time to figure out and doesn’t always work exactly how I want, but it’s still a useful feature. The fan runs smoothly without distracting noise, even at higher speeds. Overall, this is a well-designed and effective AC vent booster. It looks clean in white, blends in well with the vent, and delivers excellent performance. Highly recommended for rooms with weak airflow!

Actually works well!

I've got an old 2 story house and the second floor does not heat and cool as consistently as the first floor. And of course all the bedrooms are on the second floor. I put this in my bedroom and it is noticably cooler than the rest of the rooms now! I don't use the heat/cool settings, I just set the fan to level 8 continuously. It's not silent but on 8 (out of 10) it's not obnoxiously loud. The cord is ugly but tbh I'm not sure how that could be avoided, so I'm not counting off my rating for it. It would be nice if you could choose to have the cord on the left or right, but oh well. Super easy to install and program.

Works as described. Nice quiet fan
Works great. Helps cool my bedroom that seems to always be hot. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I was hoping there was a way to schedule day and night settings. So it would run on cold during the day the switch to night on a scheduled time. If it can do that I’m not sure how to do it.

It took a bit of research but this Smart Register Booster was exactly what I needed. TLDR; I was able to sync this product with my Nest Thermostat to turn on/off with the HVAC with some Home Assistant magic. My initial problem: My daughters room is on the 2nd floor on the southwest corner of the house. We have no tree's to shade the area so her room COOKS in the summertime. I've read that register booster fans can help pull hot/cold air to the further rooms away from the HVAC. In further reading, I've also found that these booster fans can also cause damage to your HVAC system if running while the HVAC is turned off. The Smart Cocoon does work right out the bat, but does not offer varying sizes and is pretty pricey. The AC Infinity has been able to work, but connects via bluetooth (I need WiFi for my case use). Out of the box: This was not a simple plug in an go option. You connect the register through the SmartLife app and has plenty of features through the app. It requires a bit of trial and error to get your temperature ratios correct so that you aren't running the fan all the time. It is not at all available through the Google Home app, so I would need to go through the SmartLife app in order to do anything with the booster. Why I'm Here: At the end of the day I was able to come up with a reliable solution. I ended up adding the register to my Home Assistant environment with the Xtend Tuya integration. I'm really only able to turn on/off the booster fan at the moment, but it also gives me a sensor view for the current temp from the register. It would be nice to be able to adjust the fan speed between daytime and night, but maybe that will become available down the road. With everything in place, I'm now keeping temps in my daughters room within at least 1degree from the thermostat in the living room. I'll be purchasing 2 more of these for the other 2 rooms I have on the 2nd floor. I'm sure that my HVAC is running longer than normal with these active, but it definitely beats having my living room at 68 when my 2nd floor only gets down to 79. ~*3-MONTH UPDATE*~ I am still absolutely pleased with this product. I tweaked my automation as it was a bit too efficient an caused excess humidity to get trapped in my condensers. This caused some extra drainage which led to a clog in the drain pipe. That has since been rectified and my automation now only runs the fans when it detects people are in their rooms with some MM Wave sensors and during bedtime hours. My HVAC does run longer, but only by 5-10 extra minutes. I ended up buying a 3rd for the final bedroom.

I really really wanted to like this vent fan. I got the 4x10 white booster fan. It's sleek, stylish, easy to use, and the app is great. It's metal so my magnetic angle worked on it. Here's my only issues: First, there's a 4-5" cord from the vent to an end, that end is where you plug in the cord that goes to the wall. That junction is where the silver thermometer is... just hangin out. I have a floor register that isn't near an outlet. So, I can maybe deal with or hide the cord somehow, but the thermometer just didn't look right sitting on the floor like that. Secondly, fan speeds 1-10 (10 is pretty loud for a little fan, fyi) you can only adjust on Fan Mode where it just runs constantly like a fan. For Heat and Cool Mode, the fan speed is automatic by formula. What I mean is, the fan speed increases by intervals by the amount of room temp degrees above or below what you set the fan at. Which is disappointingly low, starts at like 4 then goes up 1 speed per 2 degrees or something weird like that. The app lets me increase the fan speed while on Cool mode but was back down to speed 4 in about 30 sec which was unfortunate. However, the ONLY reason I returned it is that I don't believe it actually helped airflow. I used this for several days during a heat wave and it didn't help at all. I tested the air flow from several distances throughout the day with some other testing and my opinion was that the air temp difference was marginal at best. Therefore, I couldn't justify the $50-$60 for a device that didn't actually do much plus that unsightly cord/thermometer along the floor.

Doesn't help much, extremely limited settings

This is the second booster fan (the other is a different brand) to try to address the temperature in the room farthest from my HVAC, ie: lowest airflow in the house and temps can vary up to 5 degrees from the rest of the house. Neither seems to do much for some reason, I can certainly hear the fan and feel air being pushed out but temps never seem to fall more than a degree even running 24/7 on the highest speed. (which is LOUD, by the way) I picked this one up exclusively for the app control. That works fine, I didn't get asked for crazy permissions other than, as I recall, "scan for nearby devices" and obviously my WIFI info. Big limitation with the app, however, is the timer/schedule feature. It is a simple "on/off" toggle - can't set the speed. So, for example at 7am I can't say "change fan speed from 5 to 10" or at 7pm say "change fan speed from 10 to 5". Two other big problems with the vent logic/operation: 1) The manual says "The fan will automatically turn on or off based on the operating status of your HVAC system. When the HVAC system starts, the fan will turn on; when the HVAC system stops, the fan will automatically turn off." Doesn't happen... it runs 24/7. 2) The automatic fan speed adjustment is extremely limited and really kind of useless the way they have it set up. It only raises (or lowers) the fan speed one level per 2 degree differential to where you have it set. So, you set it at 72 degrees it will run at fan speed 4. (you can't change the "at temp" fan speed default of 4 by the way) The room would have to get to 84 degrees before the fan speed will have ramped up to 10! Similarly, the room temperature would have to 66 degrees before it would lower to fan speed 1. Zero way to tell it to ramp up/down faster (ie: one speed level per single degree difference) or to go straight from 4 to 10 if it is hotter than desired, or turn off altogether if it falls below the desired temp, etc; The other brand I have (no app control, just a silly fan up/down remote) at least simulates a thermostat and will turn on/off based on duct temp relative to desired temp. IE: set temp at 72 : if duct temp falls below that it will turn on (meaning the AC has come on) and when the duct temp is back to 72 (or above) the fan will turn off as the AC clearly has as well. That one has zero "auto fan speed" adjustments however, it just runs (when it runs) at whatever speed you last had it set at. That one was no more effective at lowering room temps either tho, so: Long story short, none of these type "booster fans" seem to do much of anything (for me at least) and none have very thorough/adjustable logic. For the prices of these things - nah, I'll just suffer out my 5 degree temp diff, lol.

Probably pays itself off in the first year
We have a west facing patio added to the house in the 80s. Single paned windows all the way around and no insulation underneath. Super hot in the summer and freezing in the winter. It has one floor register. We have to use a 5,000btu window ac in the summer and a forced air space heater and a radiator heater in the winter. For summer at least, we now don’t have to use the window ac (yet) and temps are in the 80s and 90s right now. Even when the central air cycles down, this booster keeps chugging along pulling the air that is resting in the duct work which stays a little cold in between AC cycles. Just those two little fans blasting and boosting are enough to keep the window ac off for now. I was hoping but maybe not expecting it to work this well but it absolutely does. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats that love lounging in the patio so it’s critical we don’t let it get too hot. Being able to see the temperature of the vent and control the fans in the app from anywhere is great peace of mind. I wonder how well it will boost heat in the winter. I have a feeling we will keep the radiator heater on nearby honestly.

Summertime game changer

What a game changer! Our bedroom was always so hot in the summer, since our HVAC is in our basement, two floors below us. With this, it pulls the AC cooled air to our bedroom. I measured a six degree temperature difference, but in the summer that’s huge. Very happy.
