The switch to turn them from constant to blinking is on the plug part. I didn’t receive a remote.. I didn’t even realize I was supposed to have one until this review prompt asked me about it. I've had 4 strings up for 2-1/2 years, exposed in the Chicago weather year round. So far, so good! Work as expected, and last better than the old incandescent bulbs. A warmer, yellower light than some most LEDs have. I never use all the flashy disco settings and just leave them on steady, and for 4 hours a night, 365, and they're still going strong. Pro tip: never string lights in a spot that squirrels use as their highway- if it goes across the top of a fence where they cruise along, they will stop and chew through the wires. These lights are very bright and pretty, but, you can't connect multiple strings of lights. I used them to light up a haunted forest trail. I had 4 other 20 foot connectable strings of led lights, so I plugged in these and connected this 264 foot one last. They all worked great, even through a couple rainy days. ... show more
