  • Lot of power for the money.
These cheap wavemakers are actually pretty good and long lasting. For the money, you get a lot of water movement and power from them, Id say they are best suited for freshwater or saltwater fish only tanks as they are not adjustable and only have one speed. This one moves a ton of water in my 125 gallon freshwater tank! ... show more

  • A+ for volume, D for noise
Getting a real value on your investment in regards to moving water. This thing (1300 gph version) created a perfect current in my 150g tank. It's helped tremendously to keep debris/sediment from settling in the substrate, allowing much more to be picked up by my filter intake. Installation was a breeze, though the instructions could certainly be a bit confusing to the lay user. Make sure you know if you're getting a magnetic-install or a suction-install variety. Instructions are shown as if all are magnetic versions. No issues with the piece slipping/falling since install. Very easy to move/redirect the device. While this is a great value for the price, there are some hidden costs. This thing is very loud compared to its peers. I have a loud, old air pump for my tank aeration, and this thing's noise drowns it out. Much louder than expected, but I've got a huge tank and it's more of an annoyance than anything else. Someone with less room and a smaller tank, or super-finicky species might want to avoid it. Caution: - Do not recommend for tanks <100g. This thing is almost too much for my 150g. - Ensure any live plants are well secured prior to turning this thing on. It will move more water than you think. I aimed mine at the back glass on an angle to diffuse some of the power, as it was nearly pulling some of my tall grasses from the substrate with direct current. - I installed in an existing tank with an established community. Most all of my fish were beyond adolescence, so I wasn't overly concerned with introducing stress from this. Some definitely short-term stress with the younger/smaller fish, but they quickly adapted/adjusted and all seem to be thriving with the more naturally-realistic water conditions. The additional water stimulation even seemed to help one of my 2-yo dojo loaches who had been partially paralyzed for six months+. He's seemed huge improvements in swimming and appears to have completely regained use of his entire body after being relegated to flopping around on the bottom for half a year. - Don't use this if you have a smaller tank or finicky fish. I'm not kidding when I tell you this thing can add rushing-river type currents in a small tank. Perfect value buy for those with large tanks and a tolerance for some noise. ... show more

  • Extremely reliable
It's rare I write reviews, but I was just thinking about this today and feel like this little pump deserves it. I cheaped out at first when I was getting into the reef keeping hobby and instead of buying the big name brand stuff like Maxspect and the AI Nero pumps I figured I'd start with something basic. I bought this pump. It's been a year and a half and it has been running the ENTIRE time, it's gone through being caked in algae, vermetid snails, like everything a reef tank can go through has grown ontop of this and it hasn't missed a single beat and has no stray voltage to boot. I see posts on my local reef group with people finding stray voltage on their more expensive pump. Nonstop running and performing for a year and a half for $14? This thing is GREAT. If you need a placeholder until you can afford something more premium with other features, or you don't want to make a super large investment in your first reef tank/whatever before you know you're going to be into it, this is absolutely perfect and one of the best uses of $14 I've ever made. ... show more

  • Ummm....yeah....
I don’t know much about these contraption’s as I’m not technically a ‘fish aquarium connoisseur’. So when it said up to a certain gallon—I said: “go for it Marie...make your little ‘kid fishys’ happy. I have a 20 gallon tank. Lemme just warn you—Don’t. Just DON’T...do it. I had to giggle at first because it literally ‘blew’ my poor baby’s to tha’ side of tha’ tank! I’m thinkin’ boy are they getting a great aerobic workout. But then I got scared. They could not move! Wayyyyy to strong and my poor ‘Ghost Shrimp’....well—may they rest in “Ghost Shrimp Heaven’. Only 1 left and when I last checked...it was still holding on to what it thinks—is a tree. Also, box instructions says there is supposed to be a magnet to attach to the outside to hold tha pump???? Ugh....who writes these dang instructions and...WITH misspelled words???? There was no magnet you...you ole’ “power wave pump people from China you”!!!! And that dang suction was ‘suck’ at first, as it kept falling down but I gave it some ‘Dewayne Johnson’ pressure and that worked but then—I almost couldn’t get tha’ dang thang to loosen off tha’ glass to remove it and pack it up. My fish screamin’, while I’m lookin’ at them in a panic, all tha’ while tryin’ to pull tha’ thang out while—WHILE mind you— not crackin’ tha’ glass. This thang bout as confusing as a man. Sheesh. It’s extremely quiet but seeing I removed it after about 8 minutes...I can’t vouch for that being maintained. Back in tha’ box and sendin’ it back. Works a little TOO well—for a 20 gal. Look like a dang monsoon in there. My live plants all uprooted. Took a few hours but my babies finally forgave me cause they...was...P’od at me. I think. I told em’— “momma, was just tryin’ ta’ help”. But they wasn’t tryin’ to hear none of that. So if yo’ tank bigger... ughhhh....yeah. ... show more

  • Suction cup….NO!!!!!!
The wave make is a tough work horse, does what you wanted or expected to do, but after two months in the tank the bracket that suctions on the tank broke(cheap plastic)no way to repair. Replacement part almost as much as a new unit. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT

  • Water waves is fine. Suction power is 2 out of 10.
The media could not be loaded. The waves is fine. Fan working nice. Little bit shaking and suction power is super bad. Highly recommended manufacturer fix your suction cup.
