  • Sturdy, well designed, and smooth
Style: Smart
I LOVE my Sunny bike! I generally speaking despise exercise bikes since many of them are poorly designed, squeak, wobble, or otherwise feel a bit on the rickety side. Not this bike. Solid as can be. Quiet and smooth. It was extremely easy to assemble - though beware that it is heavy - and is extremely fun to ride. Well, as fun as anything you use to exercise can be, anyway. A few people told me to go for the more expensive brands, but I chose wisely. This is a really nice machine for the price and I suspect it will last longer than my inclination to exercise on it, though I have happily used it most every day for three months now. I'm not a super motivated biker, but I have stepped up the resistance on the bike and it is smooth and really makes you work. The seat was pretty comfortable as stationary bike seats go, but I did replace it with one a bit wider since I'm a good sized person. I remain impressed with the bike and will say that you can't really go wrong with this Sunny. ... show more

2/9/24 Updated comments: So, I've been riding this bike for about an hour and a half everyday for over a week, I added a couple more pics in support of my comments. -first the water bottle holder is in a much better position, on the right front flywheel spoke. My old bike had the holder in the middle on the diagonal frame by the magnetic resistance adjuster, and this is gross but my sweat always dripped all over it.... Its may be a minor thing, but this no longer happens with my water bottle on the side holder and I don't have to hang the bottle off the handle bars where I was always hitting it with my hands as I changed position -I really like the handle bar layout on this bike. I taped on some old winter socks to rest my elbows on and my forearms easily fit the open space between between the surrounding bars (not possible with my old bike.) -I plan on attaching some exercise bands to the handle bars which are nicely designed to support this idea and will allow me to get some arm workouts in while I am riding. All in all I am still VERY happy with the bike. Let me start by saying my handle of "lifetimeworkoutguy" is no exaggeration. I am a 63 year old male who has exercised 5 to 6 times a week since my teenage years..and NO that is NOT an exaggeration and I spent the last ten years of my career working as a part time trainer. Now for my review: Back when the pandemic hit and all the gyms closed, I broke down and bought my first home exercise bike. I bought a lower end spin bike with a standard 40 lb flywheel, in the $300 to $400 range. I didn't much care to buy a better spin bike, as I figured I would be heading back to the gyms when the pandemic abated, and that is pretty much what happened. Story over right? Well not quite, as fate would have it, I developed prostate cancer like many men my age and so it was off for treatment and NO riding for 6 to 12 months. I tried to ride my spin bike soon after the treatments ended, but, it was a no go for reasons you can guess. Anyway, last August I finally got back into regular rides on my OLD low cost spin bike when the crank bearings blew out, being a handy guy, I bought new ones, replaced the old ones and started riding again, then I noticed the rear pully (belt driven) was plastic and it had cracked, probably from the bad bearings, I couldn't find a new one, the manufacturer would never reply to my pleas for help, so I got out the JB Weld and glued it up as best I could and continued riding. A couple of months after that I noticed it felt like the front bearings on the flywheel were wearing out but before I had the chance to replace those, the frame cracked by the crank...... I have gotten to enjoy working out in my man cave, so I researched bikes again and decided to upgrade and buy this bike. First impressions: 1.) Much sturdier than the old bike. 2.) Heavier 3.) Smoother right out of the box 4.) Better magnetic control 5.) 4-way movement on handle bars (old bike only had up and down, not forward and back, I could never get the spacing right on the old bike, this is a definite improvement for my knees...) There is no display or anything, no heart monitor, calorie or distance tracking, but I don't care as I use my smart watch for health monitoring and the timer on my iphone to track my time. I can't comment on how long this bike will last, other than to say I rode my LOW COST old bike for 1-2 hours per day and I calculated I had a total of about 1200 hours on it before the frame cracked. The bearings went sooner and the plastic pulley too. This bike feels like it will last MUCH longer, but that is just a feeling based on almost 50 years of experience. If you are looking for a good ride, good magnetic resistance control, good adjustability to fit different body sizes and a smooth ride that doesn't have all the electronic bells and whistles, I highly recommend this bike. Granted it is heavy, but I am hoping that means DURABILITY and Sunny is a well known name in the exercise industry, so if there is a problem, parts and service should not be an issue. I give this bike 5 stars on being a quality, pre electronic gadget, basic spin bike that should give you years of trouble free rides. These days, I have come to appreciate being able to ride at home in my man cave, I never thought I would say those words, since I was a real "hit the gym" kinda guy for what seems all my life. I will come back periodically and update my review as my "rides" and "hours" on this bike add up. Hopefully this bike will be able to handle my daily use for more than the 1200 hours I got out of the cheaper bike i ended up having to retire to the trash heap. Good luck and keep working out.. ... show more

  • Very happy with this bike!
Style: Original
I bought this bike in April 2020 at the start of the lockdown and have used it 3-4 times a week ever since. It's been really great and is one of the best pandemic purchases I made. I followed advice from another user on here and paired it up with the Peloton app, clip in (Shimano) pedals, my existing MyZone heart rate monitor and a Wahoo cadence sensor and I have found this combination works very well as an effective setup for cycling workouts. I also bought a Sunny mat to put under it and protect our floor. Being able to clip in helps a lot with the overall workout and the cadence sensor adds a lot to the experience with the app as well. I don't get the output measure that I could if using an actual Peloton bike (or other stationary bikes) but I personally care less about that than about my own personal exertion level, which I can easily measure with the heart rate monitor. As background, I was a regular gym spinner before the pandemic and I was looking for a way to make sure I could continue with that when not able to go to the gym. I didn't want to go all out and buy a real Peloton bike alongside keeping my gym membership (which I do also still have). I thought it might only be for a short time but......well.....we all know what happened there. Reasons I chose this bike: price point, heavy enough flywheel to give a smooth ride, magnetic resistance, holder for my phone/tablet (for the Peloton app) Assembly: easy, with 2 people it was straightforward, it is heavy though so be warned about that if you need to move it around the house, we carried it in pieces to our chosen location before assembling it Use: it works very well, I have found it is a smooth ride and it's quiet, it has stood up to quite heavy use by both me and my husband and seems to be coping just fine; the seat does work loose sometimes (and then will tip back/forward) and the position of the seat adjuster lever was a bit awkward (vis a vis leg) but we worked around it; the resistance doesn't have any kind of measure scale on it so I have to rely on feel (and my heart rate) to be able to tell whether I am working harder or less hard than before, and I wish there was a way to have a more objective measure of that, the flywheel is also quite heavy so I sometimes find rapid cadence changes a challenge, but they are easier if I dial back the resistance :) Overall: I am VERY happy with this bike, and I am also very appreciative of the previous reviewer who highlighted the Wahoo cadence sensor and getting replacement pedals to then use it with the Peloton app because this combination has been really great for me and at considerably lower cost than a full Peloton setup. Using airpods with my phone makes for a pretty good and immersive Peloton experience. It's been a really major part of my overall pandemic fitness routine and has helped to get me through this very challenging year. ... show more
