Sunlu has always been great quality. I've not had any stringing or clogging using this filament. The final product is matte black and works well for 3D printed film cameras, no additional painting required.

Decent, clean printing PLA. Very consistent and a nice finish. No clogs, no jams, no breaks. The overall surface finish is a pleasing matte black effect without sacrificing detail. These do come on the nicest reels I have seen in several years. Refillable. Very straight and smooth.

I’ve run through at least 100 rolls of this Matte Black filament without a hitch last year. This year starting production back up and loaded four machines with this new four pack of Matte Black filament. Every printer has had multiple nozzle clogs in the middle of prints, wasting the filament and parts. Three nozzles clogged so bad I couldn’t clear the blockage and had to be replaced. I love the look of the Matte Black filament on my parts. But this batch is costing me money in lost time clearing nozzle clogs, failed parts, and wasted filament.

I've never had any issue with Sunlu filament and generally have always had a good experience printing with them. Print wise- nothing has change. Ease of use, however is a different story. The new blue spools look very nice and appear of better quality- thicker plastic and more enclosed to help with clean windings. The issue is they appear to be shorter width and diameter by a small margin- but its enough that it now causes issues with the AMS system for the BambuLab P1S, X1C model printers. The smaller spools are now not as large and do not sit as nice a gap on the AMS rollers; this results in rubbing against the bottom of each filament slot in the AMS unit. Which leads to the AMS overworking the motors as there's more friction and drag on the system. This caused issues multiple times while feeding and unloading. I ended up respooling to an empty BBL spool - no issues after. It also happened again with some Sunlu Glow in the Dark PLA on again- new spool - same issue. Respooled on a printed empty spool. No issues after. A benefit of Sunlu filament over say Esun or similar other vendors was that stock PLA profiles worked very well and Spools were AMS friendly out of box. Others had cardboard spools or spool sizes that caused issues. The price was also nice. But if you print alot or have a print farm- respooling can start to add up lots of time. I'd be ok paying more for an AMS ready spool. Again- the filament prints fine, but the product ease of use overall is less user friendly now.

Breaking down the price, these came out to $10 per roll, which is a great deal considering individual rolls usually cost around $20. There are still colors we haven’t even used yet and in hindsight I might have chosen a bulk black and white instead because we used so much of that. As for print quality, we’re very impressed—everything printed smoothly, and the matte finish, in my opinion, made the prints look more high-end. This was my first filament, so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I’m honestly hesitant to try another brand because the print quality was so good. That said, some credit probably goes to the 3D printer itself—the Flashforge ADX5.

I've purchased this filament 4 times now because I love the color. The issue I have had is that the spools are inconsistently wound; sometimes, they are very tight and perfect, and sometimes, it's clear it was nearly quitting time on Friday and they didn't care. The last two times I have purchased this, the spool was so poorly wound that it gets caught in a tangle, which means a layer or two doesn't print, it finally breaks free, and then the rest of the print can't bond and turns into a massive pile of spaghetti. I have had to re-spool 2 different spools at this point so that they wouldn't jam up. If you get one that doesn't look perfectly wound, either re-spool it or be prepared to have multiple failed prints. Once I finish up this project, I will likely move on to a different filament.
