Should I Buy It?

Given the overall positive feedback, the OVERTURE PLA Filament comes highly recommended for individuals involved in 3D printing, both beginners and experienced makers. While there are minor concerns about the filament tangling and the type of spool, its precision, compatibility, reliability, and eco-friendliness more than make up for these issues. Its affordability alone makes it a smart investment.

  • Excellent High-Speed PLA – Smooth Printing and Great Quality Excellent High-Speed PLA – Smooth Printing and Great Quality
Color: Fresh Red Size: 1KG
I have been very impressed with this OVERTURE High Speed PLA filament. The filament arrived neatly wound with no tangles, making it easy to load and print. I used it on my high-speed 3D printer, and it performed exceptionally well with smooth extrusion and consistent results. The print quality is excellent, with clean layers, strong adhesion, and minimal stringing. I especially appreciate how reliable it has been for printing functional items and detailed designs. The spool quality and packaging were also great. Overall, this is a high-quality PLA filament that delivers excellent performance and value. I would definitely purchase it again and recommend it to anyone looking for dependable filament for high-speed printing. ... show more

  • This worked well, printed some solid prints
Color: Silk Gold Size: 1KG
This worked great, I generally hop between Overture, Creality, and Egeloo. I did find this a bit more brittle if you are printing delicate things (like mini figurines), so removing supports was more difficult. But it had a pretty good color, and shine to it. Definitely not the level of "gold" like fake pirate treasure coins you might by. It would be hard to describe so I'll just not try to do that. Printed great, no issues with feeding or clogs. Stuck the plate without issues as well. It's not high speed, which I'm more spoiled with though. So 70m/s vs 200-600m/s is a big difference. But generally it seemed to be able to handle faster speeds up to maybe 200 but depends on your printer. ... show more

  • Solid performer Solid performer
Color: Rocket Pop Size: 1KG
Overture filament is a solid go to in my 3D printing needs, its consistent pretty durable and they offer a bunch of color options. I have used almost every brand out there and they all tangle at times and Overture performs just a bit better than most. I use it, its consistent and is priced right.

  • Finally Producing Some Useable Prints — But Looking for a Solution Finally Producing Some Useable Prints — But Looking for a Solution
Color: Silk Gold Size: 1KG
I must give this company 5 stars for their high level of support which goes beyond what other filament suppliers might do when there are problems. In fact It may be that my own printer (Ender 3 Pro) is what’s responsible for the issues which kept me initially from being able to get any successful prints out of this purchase. I contacted the company and was offered a replacement roll as well as graciously sending me the recommended slicer settings. Iris has been patient and helpful. Thus far I’ve been able to successfully print some small pieces from the replacement roll using a seemingly endless number of variations of slicer settings. It is possible that the original roll may have been from a bad batch or maybe something changed on my printer which just happened to coincide with the purchase and use of this filament or maybe the Gold Silk just happens to be much trickier to work with than other materials. It is significant that when printing the same parts with the same printer, all other PLA and SILK filaments including one other Overture filament, always print perfectly for me without any clogging of the hot end. But as soon as I switch to the Overture Silk Gold, it is difficult to get a decent print. It’s perhaps a significant fact that printing with the replacement roll did somewhat decrease the frequency of clogging. Also changing the various parameters in Cura and running seemingly endless test prints on each change over the last few weeks has resulted in being able to successfully printed some objects. Take what you can from this incomplete write-up, because I am still unable to determine whether this material just doesn’t tolerate retraction or if indeed there is a problem with my printer. I don’t know. I will continue to try some other use cases with the replacement roll and (who knows?) future experience might reveal what is truly happening. All I can say for now is If you do buy this product, experienced it clogging your hot end as I have, and found a work around, I’d be very interested in knowing what the solution turned out to be. …will update this if the Gold Silk printing issue is solved 🥴. Here is a quick update to the above write-up, many months later…. I have found a compromise in printing with this filament. Cura settings: temp <195, max speed= 12mm/sec., flow 97%, cool =100%, retract < 0.8mm (I realize this is painfully slow and stringing is a mess. But with some clean-up afterward it is probably worth the effort.). Here is my taco holder design printed with this filament. ... show more

  • Great Quality Great Quality
Color: Black*10 Size: 10KG
I have a few different brands of PLA that I regularly use for 3d printing. Overture has become one of those brands recently. I like that the quality comes out great and the pricing for bundles fits my price range. The only thing I find annoying sometimes is that the cardboard gets caught on the edge of my ams. But I go with the cardboard for the lower cost. So it's more of a choice on my part. I'd rather get cardboard and have an easier time recycling then figuring out what to do with plastic spools. These are some of the prints I've made (minus charmander which was sunlu). ... show more

  • Silk PLA filament - Really hard to successfully print.
Color: Silk Gold Size: 1KG
The amount of problems that this silk pla from overture has given me is ridiculous. I have tried all possible combinations of temperature, bed temp, speed and all I could think of to have successful prints.... they all end up in one of two: 1- Clogging: oh my GOD, this thing clogs. I am at the point where I am afraid it could ruin my 3d printer. 2- Not sticking to bed: only PLA where I had to try using glue stick to the bed and done everything, and still have models not sticking to the bed, and same models print fine with other filaments. To top all this, it is more expensive than other filaments. EDIT: After more and more research and trying settings, I found that the minimum settings where I can print something was the high end of what is stated on the box: nozzle at 220, bed at 60. I also manually set nozzle temp at 220 for a few minutes, 2 or 3, to allow for residue filaments to completely melt before I print. Only filament with this weird procedure is this one, but at least now I am printing with decent quality. I am upping one star since it is an ok experience. Only thing I like is the color, is beautiful, other than that, I don't think I will try this same one. I will try another filament from overture, because of the general reviews being very good. ... show more
