Alright, folks, gather ‘round and let me tell you about my latest adventure in home improvement: the Sunjoy Cedar Pergola. Spoiler alert: I didn’t end up on a home renovation disaster show, and my wife is still speaking to me. Win-win! So, I was a bit nervous about dropping this much cash on something that wasn’t a vacation or a shiny gadget. This pergola is the largest and most expensive item I’ve ever ordered on Amazon. Let’s just say my credit card was sweating more than I was. Surprisingly, setting this up was easier than convincing my dog that the vacuum cleaner isn’t a demon. Just make sure you have a buddy for the final assembly – this beast isn’t a solo project unless you’re secretly a superhero. (If you are, please tell me your workout routine.) Pro tip: If you’re installing this beauty on grass like we did, do yourself a favor and slap some concrete blocks under those four beams. Otherwise, you might find your pergola doing a slow sink over time, which, trust me, is not the kind of slow dance you want in your backyard. Now, take a moment to channel your inner astronomer and think about the sun’s path before you decide where to place this pergola. It’s like sunbathing roulette – position it right, and you’ll be in shaded bliss. Get it wrong, and you’ll be playing musical chairs with the sun all day. The seller’s communication was top-notch. I knew exactly when this giant wooden puzzle would arrive, which meant I had just enough time to prepare my wife for the impending garden transformation. Quality-wise, this pergola is solid. The media could not be loaded. It was easier to build than anticipated based on the other reviews. I was able to assemble it alone with no help in about 5 hours. it looks really good and fits perfectly. The dimensions are very accurate. I am happy with the product and highly recommended it.

I really wanted to give this Pergola 5 stars, it looks great and it's decently sturdy but mine was missing hardware. Installation was easy for 2 or 3 people. Doing it solo will be very difficult. Use the cardboard box it came with to use as a base for your building. The paint can scratch off if you build it a rocky surface. Unfortunately my pergola was missing the housing that the screw goes into for the center support rail on one side (shown in picture). I didn't realize this till it was too late in the build. So beware, you may have all the screws (the vendor supplies extra) but the holes might be missing hardware that it actually screws into. 😞 Disappointing....unsure what to do next, but report back with vendor response. ... show more
